    Covid-19

There was something about an app being available shortly that will be able to read the QR codes. My guess would be that the venues will have to be on the honor system to a point, but likely fined very heavily if they are caught allowing exceptions.

    Covid-19

My wife spent time on the booking website refreshing over and over until a cancellation opened up a spot. It takes time, but hearing a few people have done it that way.

    Covid-19

Per the vaccine eligibility website: Information about Second Doses It is recommended that people receive the same mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) for their 1st and 2nd doses where possible. However, these vaccines are considered equivalent, and both are safe and effective. When the same vaccine is not readily available, you can book an appointment for either Pfizer or Moderna as the 2nd dose. Individuals can also choose to book the earliest vaccine available to them for their 2nd dose. You do not have to wait to receive the same brand of vaccine as your 1st dose.

Except for children 12-17, which we kinda knew from what was said yesterday. Tried booking my kids in on the off chance that I could, but the system wouldn't let me.

I got mine 2 days after becoming eligible at Pure Lifestyle clinic: https://www.purewinnipeg.com/covid-19-vaccination-clinic Looks like they are currently waiting on a new shipment of vaccines from the province, but might be a place to watch when the new shipment of Moderna comes in next week.
  6. Because MTS/BellMTS had the naming rights contract for the first 10 years, and they got outbid or didn't bid at all to get the naming rights contract for the next 10 years.

I believe that they have only been expanding the eligibility every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I never quite trust the Monday numbers because testing seems to go down on weekends. The Tuesday numbers are usually more consistent with the rest of the week.
  8. For me, I think I'm ok with either one or both doses. I'm also good with having a mask requirement.

    Covid-19

I got my 2nd shot after 6 weeks... looked up a bunch of studies and it was hard to decypher it all. What I got from it was 8-12 weeks got you a more effective immediate result, but 4 weeks looked like better long term efficacy. I decided to split the difference and got the 2nd dose right away to be more protected ASAP.

Got my 2nd dose vaccine today... now I wait for it to do it's thing... 👍

I could see it being a permanent thing showing your whole vaccination record. This would be usable when you travel to the tropical places and require certain vaccinations to be able to go there.

I think if you have a condition that legitimately doesn't allow you to be vaccinated, then your vaccine passport would reflect that.

Thanks, I actually just booked it. Got in for this Saturday at Pure Lifestyle on Empress. Otherwise I was looking at the beginning of July at RBC and Leila. https://www.purewinnipeg.com/covid-19-vaccination-clinic

I hear you on the parents needing to talk to other people. My wife and I were talking across the street to our neighbor the other day and when we came back in the house we both said something like "wow, that was really nice to talk to people in person"

    Covid-19

My kids have been doing ok with it this year. My boys (both 16) are doing surprisingly fine, but could use more interaction with friends as far as us parents are concerned. My daughter (8) is actually doing really well with it this year because she has 3 video calls a day with her class and then a bunch of homework. Last year she struggled with only 1 call a day and not nearly enough work, she was just bored. Overall, the experience this year has been much better than it was last year for us. I do agree with you though that I wonder how much any of them are actually learning compared to what they are supposed to.

How did you find out that they updated the date? I ask because my first dose was on April 23rd and I want to catch it as soon as they update (hopefully tomorrow). The website is still showing the update from yesterday. Friends of mine have. From what I've heard it sounds like it's setup very much the same as RBC. Bunch of chairs where you sit and the vaccinator is rolling up and down the lines with a rolling chair and people following behind to do the paperwork.

As of Monday, anyone who had AZ for 1st dose qualifies for any of the 3 vaccines for the 2nd dose.

Thinking about this comment some more, does saying that x number of the current active cases were involved with the rallies really violate anyone's confidentiality? You're not identifying who they are or which rally they were at.

I'm really curious about the rally question as well. I wish they would publish that in bold letters to really make the point hit home.

It would give a whole new meaning to pop-up clinics though...

Well if that's the case, my 8 year old will be very excited as well.

    Covid-19

From everything I've seen, the trials have just started and they are hoping to have it approved for children 6 months to 11 years by September in the US (Pfizer and Moderna). I expect that we would follow in that approval shortly after (but maybe at the same time).
  24. I thought the bigger issue wasn't that they wouldn't be community owned, but that Asper was going to basically take over ownership and almost no cost to himself.

    Covid-19

Since they are 12-18, it would only be Pfizer. Heard from another friend who got an appointment about an hour after I did and their kid is going in on the 28th, so those appointments filled up fast. Very encouraging that there's so much uptake.
