You have no qb. simple.  Riders have trouble with a passer. They wouldn't go after Harris for fear of Powell, and Powell was hurting us too. Perfect storm.  Nichols scares no one, shut Harris down and wait for the Picks to come.   Riders mistake was not blitzing, we should have went after Harris guns blazing and we didn't

Totally agree that Nichols is the biggest problem. But, we have, and have had, other problems this year, and in past years. O'Shea seems like a good guy that players love. But, I'm just not sure what rationale you can have as a GM to retain a coach for 5 seasons who has a sub 500 record, never won a playoff game, and the team is regressing. We're getting worse overall as a team. How is the coaching staff given a free pass on that? How can you sell that to the fan base? Potential season ticket buyers?

You fire a HC when he loses continually. In this case, no results after 5 seasons. Losing the room has nothing to do with it. Lots of popular coaches have been fired in the past. This is supposed to be a performance based business, after all.

Sports isn't about a good environment or players liking you or about protecting your players. It's about winning games, playoffs and championships.
O'Shea became our HC in 2014. He's below .500 in wins and hasn't even won a playoff game yet.
Rick Campbell and Chris Jones also became HC's in 2014. Both have won Grey Cups. Jones took an equally bad Riders team to the one the O'Shea inherited to the playoffs and won a playoff game in his 2nd year.
Jason Maas and Dave Dickenson became HC's in 2016. Both have winning records and have won playoff games.
Campbell, Jones, Maas and Dickenson's teams are all ahead of us in the standings this year.
Not making the playoffs, or not winning a playoff game should be a firing offence this year.

Philosophically I agree that consistency in an organization is a better way to go. Organizations that constantly change regimes typically flounder. But, I also think you have to earn that right with success. If the San Antonio Spurs have a losing record this year, Pop and Buford have earned some time to fix it because they’ve succeeded big time in the past. A sub 500 record and no playoff wins in 5 seasons (which in CFL years is like 10), earns you nothing. And I think it only buys Walters one more after O’Shea with a new coach

Yes, the qb position is always the most important but you can't overlook the roster decisions and play calling either. They new the o-line was going to be an issue going into this game Neufeld should have had help out there, the entire offensive game plan should have changed to max protection, two back sets, tight ends, full backs, everything to keep the qb clean and give him time. It's not like Sasks offence was a threat to do anything, all the Bombers had to do was grind it out and protect the ball and they could have put a W in the win column.

O’Shea’s 5 year record is 40 - 44. Realistically the Bombers will be lucky to win 3 of the last 6. I don’t think a five year record of 43 - 47 with no playoff wins is good enough to keep your job. Whether players love you or not. The personnel here is flawed but our roster isn’t as bad as our record (exception being 2018 Nichols, who I feel for, but man he is crapping the bed).  He and his staff will be fired. Walters already has a double secret list of coaches he’s considering

I do not think there is any magic fix for this mess, and two weeks off is no cure, either. I suspect that Miller and Walters will be having some heart to heart talks very soon.

Nichols was showing some concerning signs late last year, but his play has deteriorated right into disastrous. The coaches ought to have been giving Streveler more time over the past 5 games or so when it was obvious that Nichols was struggling for reasons that we will probably never know. That is all on the coaches- O'Shea in particular and maybe LaPolice as well. We had concerns about Hall's defence before the season started but right now that is a secondary issue. We are in real trouble here, folks, and it looks like the only two teams we can beat might be the Argos and Als.

who expected Nichols to implode like this?  Five interceptions thrown in a half, two cancelled by penalties. wow.
If Nichols had played as well this season as he did since he took over, this entire situation would be much better.
Don't know what happened to him, but it has to a significant extent ruined this season.
I'm not expecting him to turn it around.
Also, it's on the coach, the head coach,  that they didn't get some time for Streveler as this was unfolding, and did not seem to have plays for his abilities,  when he finally went in.
Maybe somebody can offer a reasonable explanation for that apparent mistake.
This is just from an ordinary fan, maybe there's something I'm missing due to lack of knowledge.

You’re right. And it’s also on the coaching staff to help coach him out of this funk. Nichols has never been BLM or Reilly, but he’s shown he’s be an average CFL starter. Now he’s in Willy-meltdown zone. Feel for him, but it’s pro sports.

True. And I agree Loffler has not been the player we once knew. I love Bighill, but my expectations for him are difference maker, big play maker every single game. He’s that talented. He’s not an A gap filler like Hurl.

No question every pro coach knows way more about football than any of us on this board. For real. But, it’s about comparing our coaches to the other CFL coaches. And right now, they’re being out coached by basically every other coach. I can’t stand Chris Jones, but man, he and his staff have them playing well

I’m torn on Barker. Has had CFL success. But also the guy who traded an all star DB and the first overall pick (yes, I know Faith was a bust, but it’s a high value pick nonetheless), for Drew Willy. I’m in the Walters has done enough to retain his job camp.

If I told you I watched a pro QB and his numbers were he threw for 166 yards, 2 picks and 1 TD, you’d probably guess the team lost. He’s just not getting it done. Those numbers suck. Period. I honestly don’t know who I choose him over right now in terms of CFL starting QB’s.
