wbbfan got a reaction from rebusrankin in Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
nah not even close. last year he caught 32/40, this year he has 30/43. 70% catch rate is still very good, 80% is hard to keep up for any one.
Clercius is still extremely young in his career. Hes 25 in his 2nd year, and barely played wr in college. for highly polished wrs like lawler it takes a year or two to click. clercius still has tons of ceiling and time to fulfill it. and at that, he’s already an excellent guy playing a gritty role.

Did he? I mean he got hurt but he still did the things expected of him in his role....
Plus woli was a legit starter whereas Jake was always a depth guy...

33 for 403 and a td in 10 games. Rebus's verdict is not a crappy year by Woli in 2024.

I can see Woodbey in as the 7th DB role that Griffen and then Allen had.
The offense scares me because the Riders are good versus the run and will likely key on Brady and a potentially gimpy Schoen and Demski likely isn't enough to counter that.

woodbey in at wil is strange. have to think he’s going to be the 2nd safety in place of kelly when we go with that look.
Back up secondary/lber at the expense of DL is soo dumb. even for the mafia.
Have no faith that schoen will be close to what he should be.
Roster is ugly, hard to expect much in regina/LD. but with a below expectations roster, any thing position the field will be a nice surprise.

Hes obviously not too swift
Also blames Walters yet Walters isn't out on the road....HC also tells scouts what he wants in a player and who he likes signed or let go...he fails to realize or accept that...also HC does the cutting...and roster construct...not the G.M
Walters dropped ball on free agent targets but we also don't know if his HC said he didnt want player A...or B...or if guys said no cause they wanted to go to a place with an actual chance to play...as opposed to being back seat of a coach's favorite
He yammered on how BOLO is better than Clercius...and I know with 1000 percent certainty BOLO left here because of non use and final straw was standing on sideline all game in the grey cup while Bailey..Demski and Schoen played crippled...

You really truly believe that Thomas and Lawson are better than Adams or Woods at defensive tackle? Truly believe that?

Makes sense with the Moore and Echols additions.

Thomas had his contract expire, and was brought back late before camp. Lucky also had his contract expire as he ended the year on the PR. Houston left as a free agent, and Castillo did as well.
I will say we've seen him bring back TC camps later in the year, and guys from previous camps, etc. I do not believe mos had any thing against adams or bringing him back. I think Darvin got to a point where he had a bounce back year on a bad team making a big big chunk of money, and the only interest in him was vet min type deals. So he moved on from football. I really liked what darvin brought, and as a person he is a great guy. I think he chose a great time and way to walk away. He played a full 18 game season for the first time in his career, he put up good numbers, walked away healthy, and with 2 rings.
He isn't a guy who gets talked about alot in the 19 run, but boy he was big for us in those play offs.
Right? No one is going to long for the return of Jake. His best football was in 19 and prior. And even in 19, we had stove and nevis as well. He is so far removed from being a guy you'd want it's sad.

Jake was always that high effort rotational depth Canadian that had a use... but now he's treated like he's prime Doug Brown.... which is insane. Even when he was good he was still just depth.

he was huge for the receiver room right until he left, and what he brought (attitide/toughness and leadership)and showing guys how to play was really missed....Guys still here after he left were in constant communication with him...he was a true leader here...and came up big when it mattered too

i mean top tier arm talent, and some really impressive intangibles. he also has played the canadian game and needs to adjust to pro speed not nearly so much to cfl O/D.
one year on a pr in the nfl is ideal for his development imo. after that you gotta really get into action to improve.
The flashes he showed in pre season are really encouraging. lots of guys with arm talent, but for a guy to make the biggest step up in competition and immediately be competitive and comfortable is huge.

wbbfan got a reaction from Piggy 1 in Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news
The UFL has no agreement with the cfl when it comes to honoring contracts or rights last I heard. Is it still going to exist? I'm doubtful. But even if it does fail, another spring league will take its place.
If he sits the whole year down there, though, we lose his rights next year.
I think it's just a case of they recognize how good his talent and how coachable he is, and want to see him up close to make sure they don't miss out on a 1 in a million shot.
Elgersma doesn't help us this year, no matter what. But he might be our only real QB hope for the future currently.
They especially love to kick the tires on Canadians.
I think giving him a really fat signing bonus and the promise of release for NFL signings in the off season is the best bet for us. Other wise I bet he kicks around for another month easy.

Giants bring in anyone and their mom for workouts....some mom's I hear fared well but the politics of the NFL did them in hahaha
Pokey should just suck it up and realize he not got a chance down there...If a guy like Polk came back and isnt concerned with playing the dance....a guy I would take over Wilson any day....Pokey should realize that he has zero shot too and being 2 yrs older than Polk...and not the desired NFL body type isnt doing him any favors

Yeah kind of strange. The giants released Devito who is a fan favourite, and had a good pre season. I don’t see the fit for the giants.
