If the mix of thumpings and heartbreaking collapses isn't enough to evoke change, I don't know why a singular blow-out loss to the best team in the league would. I think the earliest event that could cause a serious discussion for the upper brass here is if we lose back-to-back in the LDC/BJB, or if attendance really dips in the Toronto home game right after the BJB. That said, I think we only stand an ok chance of winning 1 of the next 5 games. Which would put us at 6-9 with 3 games to go, likely needing to either get a lot of help while winning 2 games or needing to win out to cross over. I don't see Edmonton resting starters in the 2nd-to-last week of the season the way they are fighting Sask. And short of catastrophe, Calgary and bc will be battling for the playoffs in weeks 19 and 21 as well. No free wins the rest of the way. Except maybe edmonton and montreal vs us.

Why do we feel the need to preserve the energy of starters by having soo many dedicated Teams players, and rotate some positions like DL, but refuse to carry a capable back up cover man, or pass catcher.

Shay hasn't gotten a sniff of playing D, and even in pre-season was limited in reps. Hard to say what we have there. Woodbey still isn't back to where he was last year but I hope he gets back to that level and continues growing.

LOL. I think the real reason is that he isn't going to be in the NFL, and he can play here and then, if it doesn't work out, go to the XFL in the spring.

It's awfully funny and a perfect summation of our roster management. That said, I do actually really like the guy. He is that fringy tweener wil/sam size guy who is better than you'd think in the pass game and an absolute dog in the box. He's smart, loves playing, and plays bigger and faster than he is. If he pans out, and he's a high-floor guy imo, he'd be a lot better than Tony Jones. He isn't just an overachieving effort guy either; he was a 4-star player out of hs. He's got Bighill esq size and measurable questions that hurt his chances, but he's bounced around 4 nfl teams for a reason. We don't have room for 2 imp backup LBers, but we are doing it anyway. In a week or two Id swap Hazen for Tezino in a heartbeat. This might also be due to Tony jones getting banged up. After weeks of inactivity, the fact that this is the move we make is just sick though.

Realistically, if we let both go, we would have to either promote from within or find someone willing to work for a low salary and do both jobs. So I don't think both will go any time soon. Walters would be easy enough to replace internally, but we don't really have a viable candidate on the coaching staff. Here are a couple of scenarios that could take place. During season Low-hanging fruit event. Mos fired, Walters takes HC gig, Jauch becomes interim GM, Deslauriers AGM. Even lower-hanging fruit. Mos stays, Walters fired, Same with Jauch/Deslauriers. Hail Mary-level event. Mos fired; maybe Lapo comes in out of the blue, or maybe Hall has half a season as HC in him. After the season. Walters takes HC and GM role, brings in another AGM. Mos takes Hc and GM role, the usual suspects at AGM, league vet like Lapo comes in as assistant above the COs. Mos out, Lapo or Buck come in; front office stays the same. Mos stays with a HC in waiting like Lapo, Walters out for Danny. I don't think any of these are great options, but with the coaching cap and the 3 year deals for mos/walters, I don't think a great option exists or will exist no matter who is available. Here are some of the lower-impact moves I'd like to see transpire. Hall retires, and another senior defensive mind is brought in to refine JY. I still believe JY can be refined into an excellent coach with high potential. This year has been a mess, but if he can learn from it he can still go far. Marty becomes run game CO, and another bright offensive mind is brought in to be passing game co and OC. Someone from outside of the usual lineages who isn't going to run an archaic form of the West Coast offense. Either Mos is fired, or Walters is replaced with someone who will be firm as his boss in the GM spot.
