2024/2025 Blue Bombers Off-Season Thread
wbbfan replied to TBURGESS's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That’s how I see it generally for starters. Though I will say tony jones does look improved this year so far. If he keeps it up he and Jonathon jones will be a battle. I wouldn’t di kyrie. They’ve been playing him at mac in camp this week, I think they might seriously consider that and cut a good young backer sadly. I wouldn’t di a wil/Mac this year. -

Cams been hurt once and is still recovering. You can’t say he can’t stay on the field. -

Yeah, he brings a ton to camp. Ideal 3tech type guy up here, if he can turn into a decent pass rusher from the 3. His weak punch knock will be offset by playing against Canadian guards. Hes also a guy that could likely play 4i in the 30 front. Hes got similar physical size and tool set to Casey Sayles. Isn’t as polished as a pass rusher but much better in run d. -

I love shmekels motor and willingness to contribute. Nice utility too. But man, he doesn’t turn that into any thing in play on dl. I’d convert him to a ol. Hes a last Canadian on the roster guy, and kornelson looks like a tc body to me. -

Bombers sign Kevin pointer out of wake forest. (Vegas rookie camp this year) 6’1 285lbs dt. He’s a fast for his size, very high motor 3 tech who is a tackling machine. Not a nose or a big pass rusher though he projects much better as a pass rusher here than down south. -

100%. Two killers. Elsbury is very similar to Devin adams last year. Insane size and athleticism combo. Raw, but might be worth polishing. A centre with that kind of athleticism would be crazy. Keim and Webb could steal a spot this year. Massive stir up for early camp. I feel like this is a two fold move, 1, Lofton has been banged up and we don’t want a default of Randolph at rt, and 2 the ol as a whole and the fresh imp batch has under performed expectations. From what I’ve seen, the dl has had a big advantage in play so far. Honestly I expected the ol to have the advantage. -

All imports cut and signed. Elsbury, 6’5 305. C/G, was basically the 6th ol, but played a good bit. Exceptional athleticism, 9.84/10 relative athletic score from his pro day. Would’ve been the top interior ol athlete in the nfl combine, exceptional 10 yard time. https://hawkeyesports.com/sports/football/roster/player/tyler-elsbury Keim is 6’9 322 RT, very good athlete, not elite like elsbury but incredible size and length. https://byucougars.com/sports/football/roster/player/brayden-keim phillip Webb 6’5 265. Tremendous athleticism and 2 way edge. Blue chip prospect for sure https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Phillip-Webb-LB-LSU https://www.yardbarker.com/college_football/articles/2025_nfl_draft_profile_phillip_webb_edge_jackson_state/s1_17135_41926912 -

I wanna say 2018 maybe early 2019 was the last time we saw that kind of stuff from mos. He’s gotten real conservative with the gc rings. -

The regular onside punt is interesting. The dribble kick is awful. Imagine if it was the same with a qb pass. -

Only if his feet are on the ground and he is reaching to catch the ball in a prone position. Woli took one of these here that was pretty helacious. In that position, you should be able to continue to close and not need to dive as the defender. Extending grey areas instead of clarifying and intensifying rules. What is late, but not egregiously late? The spirit of these changes is where it needs to be, but it will continue to cause uncertainty for refs. I like the fumble advance change. They should've taken out the stupid pooch kick Montreal play. That crap is bus league by little league standards. -

he will be one candidate. Mitchell also returned for Edmonton, case returned for us last year. Sterns has the tool kit, we probably test him too. Jaylen hill also has some kr history, and Harris has an extensive background returning kicks in college. Time to fire up the airlift plane, should look for RB/krs but honestly I think we need to air lift some WRs but maybe that comes from cuts. -

I hoped this would be the move. 5 + the cis kid is too many arms in camp to have 2 QBs ready for game 1 and 2. Likely means either chase is doing really well, or another qb is inbound and he’s next on the slicer. -

Definitely lost some weight, thought I heard some thing but now I’m not sure. Hopefully he’s just working on losing weight and is healthy. The last of a generation of treasures. We will never see the like of him again sadly. Looks pretty close. At this point we are moving guys around and it’s still very fluid. After ps game 1 I think it’ll be more ironed out. Thanks for making the list to keep track. With numbers would be amazing. -

Not only is the ratio a serious concern, having those 4, plus the two rookie candidates Gauthier and cadwallader. 8 guys dressed for 2 spots, when 1 (the wil) has half their reps filled by a db. That would be an awful roster issue to over come. That would likely mean 9 starting Canadians including no imp guard. Going into camp I figured start 2 di 1 cut 1. With Shay and smith, I think you keep 2 imp, pr one of the other 2. -

Wouldn’t be surprised to see an imp lber cut before game 1 at this rate. Maybe even a wave of cuts before the game. It’s going to take an insane effort for a bunch of guys to make lber. Imp wise you have to beat a couple established vets.Other wise 1 of Novak and weitz have a decent chance of making the pr. And nearly no chance of at the ar, short of a pile of injuries at lber. -

yeah. I bet snoop draws a bunch more than fiddy. Snoop commenting on cfl plays of the week would be huge. And wildly entertaining. I’ve heard he’s actually a really good hs football coach with an impressive understanding of Xs n Os. So 2 games on an actual tsn channel? Will the + games be shown on in stadium cameras with announcer audio again lol tsn never fails to disappoint with cfl coverage. -

One of the best huddles to watch so far, very much recommend it. I particularly love what he talked about in terms of Elgersma going to the NFL camp. Couldn't agree more. The pace of going to camp with the Packers out of the CIS is going to be an immense learning opportunity. This is basically the best-case scenario for him. Hope he makes their PR for a bit. Some great discussion on how he sees the draft picks this year up to rookie camp, too. That's awesome. Man, I cant wait to see how we use these young athletic guys. -

lol true. I think it is a great way to target the wider demographic range. Especially with Snoop. LL, kinda meh, dated. Like Iced T he's probably known more as an actor than rapper at this point. Snoop is a big score, though. Probably a bigger name than we will see at the GC :S
