I’d rather listen to the stadium pa announcers than him, or suitor. Honestly not many color or pbp guys at tsn for cfl are worth listening to.

100%. the rest of the conversation is filled with guys who had a fraction of his longevity too.

Pretty much. Back in the day, great DTs never got the appreciation they deserved. Doug brown never got a sniff at MODP, little on mop. But is one of the very best players in that generation. He should've been in on it at least 4-5 times. The thing is, QB play is pretty fixed these days. Top tier qbs don't move often, and are found even less frequently up here. The 3rd-4th best QB in the league isn't much better than the 10-12th best guys. Meanwhile, the Lines are much more plentiful for upgrades. And those top linemen have a much bigger impact on winning then optmizing with in the mediocre tier of QBs. Teams and fans value the inside disruptor far more than ever before, but they are still not as high as pass-rushing bookends. A great edge player who has a great game might get pressure on half his snaps. A great DT in a solid game might get pressure on 15% of his snaps, but converts far more of those into more punishment and more sacks, and also could easily disrupt the pocket on 2/3s of his snaps. We saw this with Kola getting roadrunner'd by Ceresna, entire games where Zach had no snaps where he could step up into the pocket. No joke. At DL and QB, we just can't afford injuries this year. Not just Jake, willy or lawson too. Lawson goes down schmek is playing an old jake number of reps. willy goes down mid season and we have a handfull of combined games of experience among all the rest of the ends.

Hes a brilliant pick up for us. Especially next to lawson. We need another guy inside to rotate, but the interior is gonna be beastly. That will for sure make it much easier for the edge guys to excel.

Which glieberman era? lol Yeah, I was excited to see more of him. We certainly need to keep getting after DL to bring in for camp now. We've got 6 end only guys on the roster, 4 of whom are under 250 lbs an by a decent margin under. We also have 1-2 guys are are possible edge/3t tweeners. Dixon is a guy to watch at edge, he played a couple games in the NFL and stuck around the pr down there for 2 years. And we still have jenkins who got into the same game last year and was solid. Other wise, we are not only thin on the edge, we are green. Really don't want to see Ayers as the DE again

the idea would be higher scoring, more dynamic offensive based games at a faster pace. No actual proof, other than how it’s worked for mlb, and that what the league has done over the past two-three decades has only eroded the success and fan base league wide. I’m trying to look at it from a none hard core fan perspective and wondering if the potential is there.

agree 100%. the league needs to be ready to adjust fast out of these changes and pivot. I very much worry that they won’t, but if they do maybe they can make some thing positive out of all this.

I was thinking about how mlb had rocketed up the viewer rankings and dropped their main demographic by about 15 years with the changes in recent years. Do any of the new CFL changes have that kind of chance? I’m not a fan of most of the changes. Couple good ones here and there. I was only in favor of maybe half of the mlb changes but they have worked out better than any one would’ve believed. Maybe if they accomplished the goal and have less fgs more going for it on 3rd down and scoring more tds, it could have the same kind of impact. I really struggle to see most of these changes panning out. But it would be great to be wrong and see the cfl do a fraction of the job mlb has done.

That is correct. But that also means we need to fill the dime db spot without another DI. Woodbey and the griffin dime spot is gonna be tight on the roster. Hooper has a very good to chance to be a Hubert type fit.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
best players are always that way. His coordination, balance, agility, and body control are fantastic for a guy soo big and who has mainly been a blocker. Strong natural hands as well, without bad catching habits. I think Zach is gonna love this kid as a pressure release target. If he drops 10-15 lbs, gets a tad faster, and learns to waggle some, he is going to be a deadly multi-use guy. I can see a whole lot of mike sellers in him.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
That would be great. I'd love to see vaval take a step forward as a db this year and be able to be the bench dime. We need all the help with DI flexibility we can get. Imagine if we used the naturalized american designation on WJ? Start Nuer on paper and wj can balance half the games reps as a canadian. Oh yeah, the D should be exceptional this year. Anticapting no rookies starting or being a primary rotational guy unless they beat guys who've been here. Tons of play makers all over the field, depth, versatility both positionally and ratio wise. JY is gonna have some real tough decisions to make. This is the type of camp cuts that is both haunting and mouth watering for coaches.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Im sure they do. Will we DI a 2nd rb? Only if Vaval is hurt lol. I hold out no hope for a well-used offensive DI until it actually happens. I think we should look to have 4ish for camp. Especially with potentially 4 legs in this camp. Bailey + Nuer is going to be a huge boost to our DL if we rotate modestly well. Definitely thinnest at DT. Lber is crazy deep. I bet OL and Lber are some of the first cuts in full camp. Love the versatility and size options we have in the secondary and line-backing core. Just gotta keep the chaff out of the way of the wheat. I bet they are waiting for the rookie camps. Both ours and the NFL's. I think we will see a pretty good-sized turnover in young guys between rookie camp and the first week and a couple of days of our full camp. Not just the usual wr/dbs either.

So post-draft, our remaining needs break down as follows; Wr. We have 23 dbs and 16 wrs. For sure, need a couple more imp WRs for camp. DE. 18 ol vs 13 DL. Specifically, 2-ish Nts and another pass rusher or two. A backup LS and another KR or two are really needed for camp and insurance for Vaval. If we are going into the TE market, we need to work someone like Schmekel into that backup some, and bring in at least 1 more guy for camp reps. Otherwise, the depth is in a really good spot going into camp.

no but he is kongbo esq in a sense. But where kongbo was a polished balanced/run stop edge, nuer is a polished pass rusher. The TE era for the bombers about to begin. We’ve been using that look for a long time. Gray, Eli, mci, etc. In the past we’ve run the ball down the throat of teams with 6 ol and run some max pro out of 6 ol packs. All of that can be homogenized into 11 form with a real te, who can catch. I wonder how dante feels about cutting weight. If he’s gonna be nfl bound eventually, they won’t want him coming in at 250/260. Interesting global picks. Rotational glue guy dt and a pretty solid punter prospect. In the end we checked all the boxes, though i’m not high on the wr prospect, when you factor in Dante as a te that gets better. It’s not how any one would think to go about it, but it could work out real well. Big gamble of a draft. I wonder how the roster would break down though. 5 starting ol, 1 back up, te, peterson, and mci. That’s a lot of big bodies. Plus Schmekel. Is there room for a te, 2 back up rbs, a dt who blocks well, and a back up ol?

either didn’t value the guys available, which with the rare combination of size and established high level teams play/blocking that was available seems odd, or just valued the guys we have highly. Good for clercius bad for corcoran. Not a big deal really. pretty good draft. filled our biggest need with the best player in the draft at that position, de. Got a top tier ol futures. plus some intriguing fit potential. considering ott took the next big hback available, either they thought he’d be gone, or just wanted to secure the guy. Don’t hate it, this is the draft to do that in. We will know by how heavy he comes into camp. It could go either way really. Maybe when he’s 100% they really like how he runs and thinks he can play a bunch of positions and roles for us. Maybe they want to go te sets instead of having a guy like clercius block half his snaps. But if you’re in it for the blocker, he wouldn’t need to add much weight and canadian tackle prospects are not common. I’m all for the cfl evolving to use 11 formation. If you like this kids hands, and blocking, it’s easy to see the value in him even if he starts out as a package and heavy set guy. I hope to see some 5’10 210 lbs sam trying to block and cover this 6’6 275lbs kid.

This draft really exposed the fact that it shouldn’t be a tv event. It shouldn’t be a couple hours either. Do it with out presentation, in a fast format like they used to, then have a 45 minute post draft prime time tv event on tsn. Then they can cover all the picks, the off season moves team needs etc. Hopefully in the global draft we get another dl and a k/p for camp.

token athletic under sized teams guy lber. Kind of wild to take him over jesulayomi, ulm, and to a lesser extent udoh. missing both waves of wrs is a bit rough but still some guys worth developing at wr

early for a futures pick in cline, but with his lack of speed i don’t think he’s gonna stick as long in the nfl. canadian starting at rt in the ncaa is a big deal. His floor as a guard is very high if he doesn’t end up visible at t. this is no surprise given the mock drafts we saw. cfl draft is impossible to predict, but even at that the mocks have been terrible I like a bunch of these picks teams are getting good useful talent
