  1. Thanks. I remember that I thought some thing actually negative had happened on twitter. Thats nothing to be riled up about imo. It’s hard enough for guys to retire, to say I’m not healthy enough in a gc I don’t expect any player to make that call. That’s the problem with having final say be the players. Coaches trainers and drs need to protect the team in positions like that.
  2. 100%. A lot of industries are male dominated high testosterone etc. manufacturing, especially welding and fabrication. Mining, oil rigs etc. sexual harassment and worse are never a risk associated with work. That’s just an awful and dangerous standard. Yeah, really pathetic and disappointing. If the Argos are smart they’ll give her every dollar she wants and get a none disclosure signed asap. If that doesn’t happen I fully expect things to get worse and punishment to be severe. That step doesn’t just happen in a vacuum either imo. If they jumped to that, I would suspect they have a much deeper issue with more victims.
  3. The person who was fired for refusing the advances of a player. You’re blinded by double blue glasses. Athletes get named because when they don’t, teams get things swept under the rug. Kelly has skated soo many times already on even a trial by media. Kelly has had more second chances than any one in the league. Guys a dumpster fire.
  4. Any synopsis of what he said? glad Sergio is back. Hope they either let him punt or get a really good punter and kick off guy.
  5. No it isn’t. Kelly is a creep with a long history of offense. The system is in place to protect victims, not predatory losers. As it should be.
  6. Tbh, Kelly does not get the benefit of the doubt. Dude has been in soo much trouble soo often and kicked off soo many teams, I presume things are worse than we are hearing. Screw the Argos too.
  7. He did. and that’s why he’s worth bringing in on a min type deal. 3 cfl training camps so far, he needs to come in and probably needs to be an instant roster guy to stick.
  8. Yeah. And if not, no big loss. He’s got upside but he’s played and been to camps up here a few times and not developed.
  9. I’d take him too lol. Like this pick up a lot though. A ton of high level experience with tons of versatility. With the athleticism to play te and the physicality to play guard and start at both for bama no less. Says a lot about him not transferring to start else where and try to get reps for a better nfl look. Not hard to see his fit here. Be fun to see him in camp. Also be interesting to see if he’s a project or more pro ready. Yeah. Soo sad, hope they get every thing they need. He’s got an incredibly bright career still as a coach too. Hope he can recover fully.
  10. Joe Gibbs with a 10k donation, pure class. Iirc he only had mike for a year or two. Heart breaking though and makes me wonder how it isn’t covered. He got deep into his pension with all his nfl games.
  11. If he does come back at that point though he will be a hot commodity that several teams offer big dollars for.
  12. I’ve pondered this a few times, going back and forth and honestly idk what I think would’ve happened in that scenario. But I’m sure glad we didn’t have to find out. High floor low ceiling. Massive achevment bringing the team back to some financial stability and quality on the field. But couldn’t get out of the way for more. Tbh same goes for Ritchie and taman. Though we still should’ve won 01 based on freaking talent alone. That roster was insane. Basically every single asset that impacts the quality of the team on the field was squandered. Free agent pick ups, rookies, trades, picks, neg list, you name it.
  13. You know all those times two bombers go out into random places and sign autographs? Bet you they are getting a cheque. Not that they’d need to get one, but I’m sure we use it as one way to bolster total compensation. Play off money too. I know for a fact that happened a bunch as recently as the early to mid 90s. Few guys with dealership jobs who didn’t sell cars but showed up for company events and public stuff.
  14. My bet is they are all waiting to see if he sits long enough to take some thing with in 10k of min. Rip topic. But atleast thread is back on the rails lol. we need to sign some one before we get into civic planning and walkable cities. I’ll never find my way out of that rabbet hole. with white gone I wonder if baileys market is gonna move up now. Is any one still missing a no2 imp wr?
  15. The simple fact is, while Winnipeg has poverty and crime problems, more than some Canadian cities, it’s nothing compared to major us cities. The gun and cultural violence/aggressiveness is a whole other thing than here. I mean, we aren’t even talking kc as a bad place, and look at what happened during their Super Bowl party. Any one who thinks we got it bad, go to chiraq, or any of those other cities. Forget even just Winnipeg size cities in the dirty south that aren’t capitols. Those places will sober you to reality real fast. Most of those places have areas that are violen dangerous slums by violent dangerous third world country standards. Serious Johannesburg scary bad stuff. Major hell yes to lake time. Especially in the summer but I’ve found it nice even in winter lately. tbh polo is more dangerous than the forks these days. The forks has tons of private security now and regular patrols.
  16. Dunno about the nhl stuff. Though a lot more than the down town plays into a sports reputation like that. Plus they have access to stay in beautiful locations with in Winnipeg. I don’t put any value or weight on that opinion. Most hockey players aren’t staying at the Hilton between games and the tier below hotels are just as good here. The last place in this country I want to be visiting for work is Toronto and nothing else is close. Even dirty old Regina. you are right most every major city’s down town has the hip part too. Like i said gentrification, sprawl and decay are a western thing. I do agree that the ability to differentiate between great hotels and crap ones is a tough skill today. Though chains are what’s reliable. Every down town has a marlbrough hotel type of place or lots of them. And the price isn’t that far off nice places. I think the big factor is with more popular cities people adjust down town to fit good down town when visiting. And that isn’t intuitive here. People do think down town Winnipeg is bad, have never been exposed to the down town of dirty south cities. Even back to the nhl thing, Chicago, Detroit, denver, Washington etc these are places if you make the wrong turn you’ll go through the filming of an wisdom of cops and into a real life episode of CSI. No joke, no hyperbole. No joke, they call it ch-iraq for a reason. Skid row? It’s gone from bad to unbelievable.
  17. Blinks early fumbles were all from trying to do too much down field. He just wouldn’t go down. Fought for yards like his life depended on it. He did learn and get past that quickly though. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust him with the ball in the clutch. not suprised. Walls was under the average weight but sooo strong. I had some first and second hand experience with that. One of those insanely strong p4p guys. Walls career is kind of like jeffcoat as well. Great pass rushers who could’ve had hof careers. Had hof talent. Didn’t have the consistent missed games jj did and was more productive in less seasons.
  18. Tbh we had a lot of that in the taman era. His negotiation tactics and penitent for cheaping out cost us soo much talent. We likely would’ve won a gc after 01 if we didn’t screw around soo much. Bruce, Clark, Armstrong we screwed and low balled soo much under taman. Our fa pick ups virtually all sucked as well. I don’t blame the milt blink and other hold outs. Or guys leaving to other teams for a bit more money.
  19. Idk parts of down town suck for sure. Exchange is great. But tbh a lot of major cities have similar down town problems to what we do. Urban sprawl / decay and gentrification are issues all over the west.
  20. Yeah. If lawler players 18 like he did the first 6 ish back he might put up some crazy numbers and maybe he gets one more good size deal, not 300k but it’s possible he gets a couple years at a schoen Esq money. Next year is lawlers big shot. He got a late start and has all the talent in the world. Year after next any thing could happen. If he comes in pissed and motivated like last year he could push for an 1800 type year. Roster won’t likely be updated for a couple more weeks. Then after that it’ll be more regularly done. yeah he’s said and done some real dumb things in the past. I don’t think he’s cut out to be a panelist on tv. Maybe a segment guy on game days. I wouldn’t take him in any position with the bombers.
  21. I think lawler will come down further after that year unless he has some crazy season, and then dalton will go up on his next deal. Imo 225-250k is going to be the new/old top end for imp wrs.
  22. Gonna have to check that out! tossing the link here to watch later and In case any one else wants to see it
  23. I mean he made atleast one pro bowl as a fb after he left here and between kick cover, blocking, and ability to score he could’ve made several. Best fb I’ve seen in the cfl by a lot.
  24. I’d add blink, he played behind some horrible ols and still put up great numbers. Plus was often our 2nd best wr behind milt. Bolden was insane. And he made it look soo easy.
