Take the football? that unpossible
-
Id take the surstroming, durian fruit, casu marzu, kiviak, ballut and other un mentionable gross out foods over the stadium challenges these days. Atleast those have interesting stories often of hard times behind them.
-
I hate that all stadium food now is like how trashy and big can we make it? Let’s take 10 different types of fast food with a quality that would make 711 ashamed, throw it in a huge pile and cover it in fake nacho cheese then sell it for an insane amount of money.

Best bomber news all week. LFG!

This thread is officially derailed by bitching about bitching. Game time can’t come soon enough.

I guess we can’t all be Mr. Perfect… 🤩

On that, in most of the Deep South, their version of rum hut type, the tail-gaters , are the hard core fans. It’s up to us, media consumers curate the experience we want. The biggest complaining I see here is the complaining about complaining. So I deal with it accordingly. Yes. And if they ever failed to suck, they might go full black hole of suckage. Just like the riders.
-
The twisted reality of sports fandom, is that championships and sustained success leads to a heavy drop off in “hard core” fans, and a heavy uptick in “casuals” (casuals tend to spend much more on the teams at that.) I’ve seen it happen with each successful period of time here, in other football hotbeds, basketball, baseball etc. bad teams in good markets have tremendous pools of hard core fans, and amazing in depth stuff during tcs, spring training, drafts, trade dead lines etc. If the leafs finally win the cup, their online groups and forums will collapse over a couple years.

Soo you want to restrict talking about the blue bombers roster on a blue bombers forum in the blue bomber discussion section? You don’t want roster and player discussion in the game day thread? What discussion do you expect to see? Have you checked what threads actually see active posts week to week? You’d kill off more than you’d realize. Im not seeing a bunch of other bomber discussions getting de-railed by roster discussion. Maybe make a thread for what you want and see how it goes.

If what we’ve seen continues, in a month at the latest we should promote Jackson. Don’t need to fire or demote hogan in title, Jackson could become the offensive QC. I’m pulling for hogan, but right now he seems far off being ready for all that OC entails.

Calgary averaged 12.3 yards per completion. We averaged 6. In the cfl you need that atleast around 8-10. Calgary had 4 players with atleast 1 big play. We had 1 big ish play and it was from Brady. Brady was our 3rd leading wr. Schoen and wheatfall combined to go 5/13 for 55 yards. I didn’t see zach missing guys in running open either. Zach needs to be better, the play call needs to be better, and the WRs need to be better. I think it starts and ends with hogan. We didn’t adjust to Calgary taking way the deep shot, or how they blanketed the under stuff. A lot of shallow flood concept and similar. Not much pa, seam busters, timing routes, etc. We need to force some bad decisions from vaj. That isn’t gonna happen if he’s un disrupted, un pressured and facing a predictable game plan. Lawson and adams can create disruption. I’d love to see them on the field with person for some reps. Put em with either end, preferably who ever is more fresh.

Keys to the game, OL play. Vanterpool at LT is going to be a big change. It’s a tall order to keep zach clean with out big stan. But should help the run game. big plays. Calgary killed us quickly and early with big plays, while we checked down and took yards short of the first. We need to flip that around today. Ball security. From bobbling returns to tossing picks we gotta do a better job of protecting the rock. players to watch, person, vanterpool, case, Brady, bridges, vaval, zach, and Demski.

I think we might’ve. Good chance one of the two ends up being in the cam judge tier atleast. Thing is, lbers don’t have the huge uptake time that QBs and some other positions have. Both guys were playing major d1 ball. If they were imps they’d be expected to start as rookies. The seasoning those guys need, comes from playing D too. We aren’t gonna sharpen them up on kick cover teams. But we played them on D very sparingly in pre season. We will let guys like schmekel and kornelson drown on D for extended reps each game, but won’t let guys like Shay and smith atleast play running situations. Ayers is in the same boat. That guy isn’t getting better as a player only covering kicks and eating dirt on short yardage plays. We suffered through the D reps with karamoko, Kramdi, Hallett, etc. Gauthier once upon a time was the 28th pick with out standing athletic ability running a 4.6 40 with 10’ broad, cadwallader was even more athletic with some big jump numbers and db reps. We’ve hammered lots of high upside Canadians down into limited (teams) role players, (Eli, year one ford lots of examples) and up jumped tcf low pick Canadians into starting jobs because of intangibles. Why didn’t mci get a good half to 3/4 or a game worth of reps at rb? Same with Peterson. Can name soo many guys who we picked with tremendous upside only to give up on them playing their actual position.
-
100%. He doesn’t gamble as much to jump under routes, but gets burned deep just as much some how. I hope we see Allen, woodbey, vaval get a shot at some point.
-
You’re right. But again, Walters is Mos boss. It’s not only his job to cycle in talent, but to manage mos. Db, I think we went with bridges for fit and execution. I don’t agree with it, but it does make some sense. We struggled for a big chunk last year to get guys on the right page with JYs coverage. But once we got it working our D got worlds better. I hope we still move on from bridges this year.
-
That’s awesome thanks! Have to keep an eye on transactions. Maybe he’s headed here. Hopefully not some UFL or arena league.
-
Yep. Knew that was coming.

Looking at our neg list, loic fouonji is un signed going into camps, but he’s raw. Under 1k in 5 seasons 5 starts. Florieia is in camp with the browns. Lassiter is with the jags. Max mcleod is with the broncos. Zay Paige is available. Reggie Roberson is with the titans. Kaedin Robinson is trying to force an extra year in college. Deven thompkins is with the panthers. Seems like we are mainly going to be waiting for nfl cuts at wr, but we might not see any one with their pr size. Alexander Hollins is on the ALs pr. I’d even consider poaching a guy like Dorian Anderson off the Argos pr. A few other vet WRs have washed out like Bailey we could look at. Our wr core was handily underperforming a few years ago early on. We brought in namaan and suddenly every one was playing like their jobs depended on it.
-
He likely would say the same of any wr. But maybe his preferences are steering our decisions at wr too. Much of the organization was head over heels in love with McKnight as well though. Guy was too small for the speed/skill set he had and we kept running him out there expecting him to do in games what he did in one on ones and none padded practices. And it wasn’t happening. At this point, give Bailey a call or who ever you have to. Maybe make a trade. If it’s not air lifts, and our ability to scout/develop/utilize WRs is not great, it’s gotta be some thing. What happens if just one of wheatfall, clercius or Demski get hurt? Let’s be real, Demski won’t be healthy for the whole rest of the season. That’s an inevitability each year. When sterns and Case are the best we can do this early, it’s worrisome.
-
Yeah it’s multiple mistakes layered. The miss on letting Lawler go isn’t gigantic since it was an over pay, but it’s heavily worsened by all the other mistakes and misses. The cap going up makes Hamilton pay more reasonable too. Not airlifting in WRs over the bye was a mistake, and not having started now that schoen is on the 6 is another. We keep compiling mistakes, and bad judgement. We do it at de, and wr. That’s not just mos, de is more mos, wr is more Kyle. After spending soo many years offering top dollar to free agent elite WRs and getting scorned endlessly, it’s odd that we developed one and let him walk for not wanting to pay elite money, twice. Lawler isn’t just an elite tier wr in the cfl, he’s in a class all his own when it comes to hands. No one else is out here mossing guys at will. That’s our out imo. If we get him back. If some one else offers him top dollar are we really gonna chase? If we do how messed up would it be to pay him and not lawler? It’s not an admirable position. We have to get him and it has to work out or Kyle is gonna chalk up another L. Wheatfall, Wilson, Demski, and clercius offers a lot of promise. If schoen recovers a decent chunk of his former play then we are in a good position. Problem is we really need the next guy up for schoen too in the more likely scenario that he isn’t there quickly.

Vanterpool at T is a big one for sure. He took a big step forward this year, he needs to end up a T to stick though, and boy with age are we in need of the next guy up. I don’t think it’s mental stuff, he hasn’t been moving well. I think it’s physical issues. Yeah I think the knee is not where it needs to be. If he can get it to where he needs to be to start easing back in this year then that’s great. But given the time lost and snaps on a banged up body I’m not optimistic. If he’s on the 6, with 6 weeks in, I don’t think we have much chance of him being 100% healthy and back up to conditioning levels this year. Some chance sure, but not a lot. id love for us to do that, maybe vanterpool at T will help with run blocking. That should be the plan, but Calgary will be ready for the run too.
-
I’m not gonna write off schoen for life. I think he can still be a very effective player, when he’s 100%. We are close to the half way point and he’s injured, and was a fraction of his former self to start the year. As such, I am basically writing off any expectations for him this year. I think we are a couple weeks away from the point where he should be shut down for the year so we can get what ever best he has left for next year and going forward. Yeah it’s been a lot of whiffs and not finding any in league gems. And that’s a huge part of success in the cfl. Previously, we did great at finding guys off other teams scrap heaps who were amazing. It’s a good point that we regretted letting Lawler walk then paid him then refused to continue paying him that sum. He did have two stupid off field mistakes, but you can’t think those would repeat. You’re right, that he’s mos’ boss and he should be reining him in and off setting his weaknesses. He has to be ultimately accountable for failing to develop mos further the last few years too.
-
Yep same boat here. I was stunned at what lawler got and thought we made the right decision. Kyle can’t be blamed for not being perfect in hindsight. But being wrong about Kenny, wrong about dalton, and wrong about the 3 free agent WRs is more margin for error than a pro sports gm gets. That is a lot of fail piled up in one off season and one position.
-
Man I hope they actually rotate person in… watch him get less than 4 snaps. We did go with an extra starting Canadian rather than flipping an ni to imp. But maybe we will see more snaps from Adam’s. Less than 7 ol is a good move too. That said, I’m worried about our offence. It’s a lot of change and not much hope of an upgrade from the previous game. It’s hard to beat a team home and away in short order like this, so that plays big in our favor. We should play well off the bye too.
