  1. Boy I hope lawson isn’t out. A combo of thomas and korny playing all the reps at one dt spot (and probably a big chunk of the other) is really hard to over come. Didn’t think our nat dt situation could get worse last year. Then this year is like hold my beer! What’s gonna happen next year, we sign one of the old old heads from on here to rotate with jake?
  2. it’s basically to a point where 80% of gc games need to be played in one of 3 places. While thats true, not a ton of cities make much off the game. A place like calgary or edmonton would very likely lose money to have a 20-25k ish attendance. Half the fields in the league this year aren’t high enough quality either imo.
  3. Hopefully hassan’s isn’t a sign of injury concerns.
  4. Yup. Flashing a hit on kick cover doesn’t always mean you have a good cover guy or a good fit here. But, he almost blocked a punt with his physicality and motor, and most importantly imo, the play where he charged down field and pancakes his blocker was soo much more. That’s the type of selfless play that goes a long way both here and in general. Hes got the athleticism, physicality, motor, and drive to succeed any time you put him on. Which as a dl is soo much more value in the cfl. Hes a really polished pass rusher with tremendous tools and just gets it. Teams players at lber are default because they are big enough to beat out half the skill position players physically and still fast enough to get down field. The under sized db types offer a lot less unless they can actually cover wrs. Linemen who can run fast enough to cover kicks are gold.
  5. nailed it. We’ve been lucky that our most successful coaches we have had, have been likeable especially by pro coaching standards. The list of detestable people as coaches here is pretty short, and mostly short lived. While i have great contempt for mos’ failings as a head coach, and believe he’s about run his time out short of drastic changes, he is a tremendous person and leader. Eventually, my lasting memory of him will be the 21gc parade in the stadium, when he and his wife went around picking up trash from the field. Pure class. Grim reality is that the coaching world is filled with highly decorated people who range from @$$holes to pure garbage. Maas isn’t a bad guy, but he isn’t great. He has become a great coach up here, especially in montreal. He and Maciocia jive in a way that makes a whole lot of sense once you think about it. Boy am I glad they got the two turds on mute for this one. I am hoping this ends up being a throw back to those old intense rivalry games when we were in the east, but with a better out come than we usually saw.
  6. we all know the reality here. The league wants a decent size crowd no matter who plays, and don’t care that the fan experience will be trash and that people will get screwed and gouged.
  7. 3 guys in their first pro games.
  8. He was twice benched before he got the big deal he’s on. Same happened to mbt fajardo etc. Likely in the 200k plus incentives range. Meanwhile, Idont like elgersma will come cheap since he’s still pining for an nfl pr deal. He might think he could get a second tc shot. I hope so, but we do tend to move glacially slow with these decisions.
  9. You’re acting like they have 18 ol on the roster and benched the 1s to go from 2nd unit to third. That just isn’t the case. They dressed their usual 7ol, only mcgloster missed the game, who missed 4 games injured this year. Their tackles and C didn’t sub, they subbed guards late. They wouldn’t have left mbt out with a 3rd string ol for the whole game either. Their roster was prepped and made with the expectation of it being a must win. They have 2 rookie imp ol, 1 imp 1 global and both stayed on the PR. The only change they will make to their ol, is if mcgloster can get healthy.
  10. If he’s available, I’d look at crum. I also don’t think we’d be in the market to pay ford what he’d want
  11. Problem with that is we didn’t have a proper qb2 this year either. We need to do better next year, and not marginally better at qb. If masoli retires i could see bc going for ford. Back up canadian to the canadian and buck can run his strev pack stuff He’s an upgrade over streveler at doing streveler things. But not an upgrade as a qb. Because as of yet, he hasn’t shown to remotely be a qb in the cfl. I think highly of elgersma, but It would be crazy for him to take real reps next year. This year has shown you need a qb2 who can start, run the offence and win. Not just come off the bench.
  12. They really nail you now for notice less than 2 weeks. I flew business class, indirect winnipeg to north carolina and back this time last year on a weeks notice. almost 4k. For two months this year my company had a price limit on trips of 500 us total expense. I told the senior manager who told me that I couldn’t go any place out side of driving range then. 2 weeks out, cheapest flights to toronto/montreal run 450. odd time might get one 350-400 but it’s rare. Bc is usually 650.
  13. It really does. and the change is like to see is zach retiring. But idk how you add a real qb1 this off season. Personally, I don’t see a great fit for both ford and elgersma. Ford could run strev package and short yardage etc, but I wouldn’t want either he or elgersma to be the first guy off the bench taking over a game. He basically is full time this year. Vanterpool is better at guard, but wallace is further along than dobson was last year.
  14. I don’t agree. Peterson basically came in and is today the guy he was when he arrived. And while he’s had some good backs under him, none made significant strides while with him, most had their best play after not being with him any more. Depends a lot on how and where it’s being drilled. Augustine made his strides blocking the place he did covering kicks, on teams.
  15. I’d be good with that. Best case if we promote jackson to oc, is we bring in a support coach. Either some one who has been an oc a lot and can support jackson with the minutia. Or maybe younger/cfl rookie type with experience in more diverse us systems who can be developed here but also give hands on insight to specific systems we want jackson to grow into. Like some one with more spread to run zone running schemes outside of tite/izr who can diversify our run game. Or some one with more experience in spread RPO to help our guys execute reads and work options much more effectively. Like calgary did last year.
  16. I’m not sure we have the staff to develop a qb any more :s Actually, I’d wager we have one of the worst offensive staffs for that. Costello is the only must keep. I’d like to keep jackson as well. But if we go in a different direction i wouldn’t be heart broken. (I’d love masoli as a qb coach). Hogan and billy jean can kick their can down the road. And bolduc I’m pretty meh on. Wouldn’t want to keep him and jackson we need heavy change. Imagine how good our secondary would look with that kind of pressure from 3-4 guys regularly? The D would be scary
  17. The als are good at pressure off the edge, Rando and vanterpool were pretty close in terms of quality, I think you could make a good case for either guy. I wouldnt be surprised at all if that’s our starting tackle combo next year.
  18. https://3downnation.com/2025/10/25/winnipeg-blue-bombers-beat-alouettes-but-playoff-path-remains-unclear-12-other-thoughts/ “As long as Jordan Younger is in charge of Winnipeg’s defence, the unit will always be at or near the bottom of the league in sacks. The former defensive back often rushes only three players and drops nine into coverage, forcing the opposing quarterback to navigate tight windows downfield. It’s a good scheme — the Blue Bombers will finish the season ranked first in offensive points allowed — but it’s not one that generates a lot of pressure.” Hodge has lost the plot on this one, and is refusing to admit to the reality most every one sees. The personnel we are married to on the dl can’t rush the passer reliably. Even sporadically is asking a lot of them. We just finished having 3 rookie ends in their first game as pros along with our 2nd unit dl, sack/pressure/hit clean mbt and the first/2nd string als ol 15 + times at an over 50% win rate on passing downs. We saw it again in week 9 when wj had his best game of the year, his random flip the switch throw back to when he was a modp type guy. We’ve seen JY run all manner of pressure packages, mostly succeeding with dbs as our lbers are pretty awful at pass rushing. The 30 front drop every one package evolved from our in ability to get pressure with 4-5. We’ve seen hall run all kinds of front schemes to get pressure with great success. Who maybe hodge has forgotten is still here working with jy. We’ve been dressing 5-6 dl including 1-2 canadians completely unable to win a 1on1 or disrupt, and wj who is permanently coasting looking for pass knock downs. That while the rest of the league is running 9-10 DL, with 5+ imports and focusing on heavily rotating young, athletic guys in who can create disruption. Which ironically is our old play book with hall running the D.
  19. Thing is, our D has been the best in the league at giving up the fewest points, and we’ve actually been able to score a bunch out side of the offence. I’ve never seen a 10 win team that gave up soo many turnovers and scoring turn overs. If we win the turn over battle, and the offence runs clock, we really can win. 1 point in week 10, 4 in 13, 5 in 19, and a single score loss in week 14. Week 5 we gave the ball away 4 times Then week 7 in the home away series we gave up 6 turnovers. Including 3 pick 6s, which is half of the 42 combined points we lost those two games by. plus two red zone picks. Then week see what happens in a game like hamilton when the offence is run semi competently, and montreal/wjs great game and we see what happens when we don’t handicap our front. If we got rid of our two worst players for internal backups by properly using the roster rules, had gone with lapo or jackson and not hogan, and gotten just average cfl starting qb play we don’t win all 6 of those toss up/thrown away game. But we easily win half of the 6, and finish first in the cfl/west.
  20. first action requires a citation imo. He’s been through 3 training camps playing in 3 years pre seasons, dressed for 36 games, and as we all know he played in last years GC, before all that he spent 2 years in the usfl and never qualified as a rookie in the cfl. He also turns 28 in january. Hes had as much professional polishing as you get before starting in the CFL. He 100% should’ve gotten a bunch more snaps this year. we wasted a lot of snaps late in one sided games where the qb or both qbs ahead of him struggled greatly. But it is extremely hard to imagine him taking a significant leap forward, and suddenly making good reads and throwing with consistent accuracy. He looks much the same as from his first pre season game. Great raw athletic tools, none of the nuance parts required to succeed as a starter.
  21. 2 of those 3 should be on the ar next week. 1 as the di de, and bailey for one of the 3 canadian back S/cover guys. kelly/ball/hallett. Imo, Jenkins with his first step is the better pure edge rusher. Jaworski could rush from the inside, 30 edge, or edge. And his bull rush style would greatly benefit our other linemen. We should also sign a qb to be no3. We should use kyrie as a naturalized player and rotate him with Smith, but we won’t. Also worth note, vanterpool was solid again at T. He should start next week at G though.
  22. way over his head. Good positional coach, And a good scout to help cover cis.
  23. he was crazy, but not broken.
  24. ooolllddd. I have scars that have older bruises than that kid.
  25. It’s been a hell of a long time since we mentally broke qb with the physical beating we put on them. It was soo great to see, especially to that nutter
