  1. I get why people want us to hire Chamblin. He's a name that people recognize so that means he's got to be good. Funny thing is, when I talk to people, you know who wants the Bombers to hire Chamblin the most? Rider fans.
  2. I think the lesson is that you grab good Canadians where ever and whenever you can. Draft, free agency, supplemental, press gang, whatever it takes. There's not a lot more certainty in the main draft. First rounders can end up being duds too, so the idea that we can only pick people in the regular draft is, to say the least, flawed.
  3. And how exactly was Walters to know that he was giving away the 2nd overall pick? Answer: He didn't. Maybe he thought that he was getting a really talented, maybe even starter level Canadian player, just like Poblah was supposed to be. Funny thing, I remember when Polbah was drafted and I don't recall anyone saying that it was a bad pick at that time, but then again, hindsight wasn't available at that point.
  4. Well, I certainly can't argue with the well defended and thought provoking points you raised.
  5. Alright, seeing that no one else is going to do it: Sorry Macho. There, can we move on now?
  6. Ya, I just can't figure out why Walters doesn't have our "hindsight is 20-20" skill. Yes, another top notch O-line man would have been nice to pick up and if Walters had known then that he'd be giving up 2nd overall, he might not have used the pick the way he did. It's almost like he's not able to see into the future and is being forced to use his judgement. By the way, seeing that Calgary was, as I understand it, willing to give up a 1st rounder to get Waggoner, I really can't fault Walters for doing it.
  7. There's a passionate response and then there's a hysterical response. Your post was closer to the latter. I'm all for making changes. I'd prefer well thought out changes rather than "you jilted me so I'm going to burn down your house" type changes.
  8. When I read it, BomberDynasty's post sounded more like an adult version of a five year old's tantrum. Give it about as much attention.
  9. I remember another time when we just cut a QB without having someone to replace him with. Didn't go so well after that. You sure you want to walk down that road yet again? Look, I get it, we're not playing well right now. It's frustrating to watch and we're all tired of hearing "soon". But having said that, maybe not repeating the knee jerk reactions that have lead to all these years of futility would be the smarter play. At least during the season. After the campaign, if we're still cellar dwellers, then, fair enough, blow it up and start over (again). Sigh...
  10. Actually, I was really concerned when this happened. I was surprised how lucky Miller was that in his exhaustive search across the CFL for the very best person to manage this team, he happened to find exactly the right guy in the office down the hall. Talk about fortunate! And then when they hired a rookie HC, my thought was "Great. Now when O'Shea wants advice he can walk down to Walters' office and tap into those weeks of experience. What could possibly go wrong?" I have to give O'Shea credit though. By hiring Etcheverry and Bellefeuille at the get-go he insured that he wouldn't be the worst coach on the staff. Pretty cagey Mike, pretty cagey!
  11. I'm counting 10 levels actually.
  12. Ya but if they come from behind and score it's only because they did it during garbage time, cause you know, the Bombers suck so much. At least, that's the theory that some "fans" go by.
  13. I saw what you did there....
  14. Bear in mind that in all of these come from behind wins, we only won because we scored all our points in garbage time, so they really aren't wins at all, regardless what the scoreboard or the standings said.
  15. It all comes down to scoring. If the Bombers can outscore Calgary, we got this. In fact, if you look back into the teams history, the Bombers never lose if they have the most points at the end of the 4th quarter. GO BOMBERS!
  16. I think that you really need to make use of this website : http://www.thesaurus.com/ because clearly, you don't understand what the words benign and uncontroversial mean.
  17. There's also something to be said for consistency and allowing a team to jell. Maybe it's as simple as the idea that anyone can have a bad game. Also you might factor in that someone earns a starters spot by showing they are better than the guy backing them up so you don't just swap them out just because. If it goes on for a while, sure maybe then you consider making a chance but not after ONE bad game.
  18. The thing is though, Atomic didn't say WE win, he's just guaranteeing A win.
  19. Sadly for some people, if the Bombers score it's a fluke, if the opposition scores it's because we suck. If we lose we're garbage, if we win, we were just lucky. Yep, "fans"
  20. Here's how it will work: O'Shea: Hi Jamaal. I just wanted to let you know that we're siting you for the game against Calgary. It's not that we think that you can't do the job, it's just that we think that we need to give a promising player a chance to show his stuff. Westerman: You're kidding, right? O'Shea: No, I know that in the rest of the football playing world, skill is the measure, but we're going to look at aptitude, skill set, and what we like to call "T-Ball style" roster management. We're really hoping to see if by randomly inserting guys for no good reason, we might go beyond mediocrity. Westerman: Ya, I'll be watching the next game from home, let me know how that turns out for you. O'Shea: You seem upset....
  21. Bombers add linebacker Nick Temple - Winnipeg Blue Bombers WINNIPEG, MB., June 30, 2016 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the addition of International linebacker Nick Temple to the practice roster. Temple (5-10, 224, Cincinnati, September 3, 1993 in Indianapolis, Indiana) was most recently in Montreal’s training camp earlier this month. He played his collegiate football at Cincinnati, where in his senior season he recorded 54 tackles, 5.5 …
  22. I agree completely with you Mike. I was disappointed in the first game. There were lots of things to be concerned about. At the same time, it was GAME ONE of eighteen. So there's no need to lose one's **** immediately, but there do seem to be people on this site that are almost giddy after a loss because they can come here and just spew all sorts of stuff, some valid concerns and a whole ton of nonsense, some of which you've already pointed out. For me personally, I usually try and take a least a day or two after a loss before posting anything. That way the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth has started to wind down and the ratio of intelligence posts vs noise starts to go up. But damn, after a loss, this place sucks...
  23. Like the Bombers, I'm tied for last place, but I have high hopes that once I watch the film, we'll be good to go for the coming week.
  24. So you're saying the CFL Twitter account doesn't have a concussion?
  25. The MOntreal O line hardly "dominated". We got to Glenn several times. No we didn't get a sack, but then again, Glenn is known for getting rid of the ball as fast as just about anyone in the league. That being said, he was picking himself up off the turf on more than a couple of occasions and we got at least one pick as a direct result of him being rushed. If he's even 1 second slower at getting rid of the ball, we end up with at least a couple, if not more, sacks. Turn it around and put Willy behind their o-line and see if they still "dominate". This is was Coach Wylie was talking about. Sacks are not automatically the fault of the O-line nor is an absence of sacks an absolute indication that an o-line "dominated"
