We have had good commissioners from time to time including a marketing type or two. I am not so sure what we have right now. One of the best things we can do right now is try and duplicate what sportsnet has done with the CBC. It would take some marketing genius and the ability to run some pro forma numbers to generate the interest. A little greed generation is a big part of marketing. More critical than anything is a good on-field product. Too often we haven't had that because we just let our franchise quarterbacks get beat up and teams lose an entire year of competitive entertainment. We react like it's nothing, just part of the game! I find the CFL the most exciting football anywhere. We have to promote, highlight and leverage that excitement. That marketing needs to be more than on TV; it must also include a community involved stands filling promotion of the live product for families seeking to stretch their entertainment budget. We shouldn't be selling major-league refreshment prices; need to get the teenagers out. Need to make hotdogs and pop affordable. We don't need major market advertising firms trying to do the stuff like they do in the majors. We need someone with marketing niche genius at the grassroots level.

That reason, and I may get tarred and feathered for saying so, is that Brossy is more reliable at the moment …

I'm glad the draft is during prime time... Ya it's **** quality compared to other leagues, but it's still our league and our draft. I'm glad they're at least trying. I mean the Jets are ****** so whatever... May as well get excited about football.

That’s a damn good way to put it. In general while I enjoy drafts a bunch of sports I follow, the lay out and time seems like a dinosaur. I feel like a really good podcast style setting with portions that involve each team and their picks in a fast paced format would reach todays target demo for sports a lot better. If we take 2 guys on the front 6 in our first 3-4 picks along with 1 ol I think we will be in great shape.

we need to go defence heavy...front 7...and not plugs who only translate to a few yrs of decent ST play A flyer on an Oline guy who may take 2 yrs to get here, and a guy who has no NFL interest whatsoever....I also dont look at certain players with no upside coming into the pro atmosphere, as thats something you can't assume...Much the same as guys who appear to be ready to roll and fizzle away a yr and half later... Right now with the salary cap it should be fairly level( except for Vegas) between small and large markets money wise but desired location? That gap has gotten huge and Chevy is definitely behind the eight ball there. A lot of bouncing balls to catch. I guess we see in the offseason which way we go...

I get your sarcasm, valid points but the GM's body of work from year to year include the the teams success rate in the playoffs, no? I guess it has to do with how high should expectations be placed on Chevy when it comes to the success of the Winnipeg Jets getting closer and ultimately winning the Stanley Cup? I think your sarcasm suggests that Chevy is doing his job, i.e., top 5 in the NHL, makes the playoffs consistently but as the Jets flame out in the playoffs consistently year after year 1st or 2nd round its the players and coaches not doing enough mixed with larger market teams have tremendous advantage over small market teams? If this is expectation for Chevy (consistently making the playoffs and it stops there), it's great gig cuz he will never be expected to win a Stanley Cup here cuz it's someone else's or some thing that is at fault when it comes to how successful the Jets are in the playoffs (not the season).

Any one else think the draft was better when it was mid day. Lightning fast and mostly followed on line? The tsn/live streams have been gong shows, and painfully slow. Making a big show of picking through the best of what’s left is like a tired old trope.
