  1. Past hour
  2. These proposed changes are all based on the fact that the coaching staff actually acknowledges that there are issues... I don't see that happening. The OL is not changing the rest of the way unless someone gets injured.
  3. It's not exactly a recipe for success now so what is there to lose? I wouldn't be making changes after a single game though...i would give them a few games together to how the new group does.
  4. So if you're constantly swapping out pieces... Do you not give them time to gel? Especially along the OL we know how important it is for them to be familiar with eachother. If you're giving guys one game to figure it out or you're gone... That doesn't seem like a recipe for success.
  5. Just cause osh is playing someone doesn't mean they better @wbbfan hit it on head about J.Jones...but his fate was sealed when T.Jones was reupped to a 2 yr deal and Wilson was brought back J.Jones is a legit multi tooled LB...and can also lay the lumber He meets a ball carrier in hole...not after they bust through...and he was exceptional at dropping into zone...and his pass rushing is as good as prime Biggie...if you have the ability go watch his play on his 7 sack season If anything he should be on instead of Ayers who we don't use effectively on defense...and he would also take a lot of reg reps on defense...he plays Mac and Wil....special teams...but hes backseat to incumbents We are wasting away the true impact of our top 2 picks this yr in Shay and Smith...bith more than capable of taking reps at will...and in role we had Griffin play...do people realize he is a 220 pound plus player...hes not a typical DB body Shay and Smith could easily fill role he played before we wised up and put him at sam...as well as collateral contribute at wil....they both have more athleticism and upside than the Canadian sask plays at wil...and that's because going Canadian there...corner and safety allows them to dress pretty much all import...impact dlinemen...and it shows...we pale in comparison
  6. That's just it... try Eli and if he doesn't work try the next guy. If you have to bring in an American centre do that because kolankowski is just too easy to embarrass and get collaros killed.
  7. Yesterday
  8. One of J Jones attributes id being able to lay hard hits, Wilson and Jones tackle just as well but dont punish the ball carrier Something that we lack , against both Sask and Calgary they were much more physical
  9. Kenny “The Cheek Clapper” Lawler
  10. I love strev, but you’re 100% right about crum. he has that resilient toughness and that fine a way to win that brown has. I wouldn’t want to be depending on crum becoming a qb1, but i sure like him as a back up. And hes got tons of tread left.
  11. what sets him apart is 1, he’s the only lber worth a damn when it comes to pass rushing, and 2 he’s the only guy who can be a run stop mlb and can get back in pass cover. We love to blitz lbers and none of them are effective not just in pass rush but even in eating a block. Kyrie is capable in the run game if he’s not blocked. he can’t get off blocks or close gaps with linemen in them. jones would be the front runner for modp, if he was capable in pass D. he’s been in the area but just not getting deep enough because he has no coverage instincts or ability to read the qb/play. he’s great at scraping to the ball but that’s it. All he brings is the ability to run after ball carriers. thats good in the run game but not in coverage. And the cfl is a passing league. Lber is the least impactful position in the cfl, unless you have some monster like wynton. Which is why soo many teams are flipping the ratio at lber. it makes so much more sense to start a canadian at lber especially if they are athletic outliers. The roster impact you might lose in starting smith/shay, vs what you could get back 4 fold with adams/woods or lofton/4th imp ol. And for my money, shay/smith platooning with J jones you gain a lot. because you won’t have to hide a lber. and you don’t have to dress an imp db to play wil.
  12. Good points and I was likely a little harsh, my overall thought was that our roster needs work and we don't really have as many standouts as you would like.
  13. I'm sure there are teams who would take Kramdi. Rotate or start at WIL.
  14. Depends what team. Maybe Randolph or Vanterpool on O for a team only missing one piece on their line. I’m sure BC for one would take Person, Wilson, Woodbey or J. Jones on D. Griffin would probably fit in somewhere too. Cam Lawson would probably do really well on a team with a 4 man front. I’m sure a couple our ST or developmental linebackers could improve coverage on another team (or maybe even take reps!), About the one thing we have this year that’s top-tier is the kick/punt coverage.
  15. O-Kolo, Mitchell, Wallace or Neufeld D-Vaughters, Vaval, D.Lawson Jake as well. A better question is to me outside of Demski, Brady, Pokey on offense and Nichols and Holm on D, is there anybody else on our roster other teams would start? Want?
  16. What intrigues me about this conversation is some say don’t get in a tizzy about players like JT way down the totem pole of importance, focus more on your top 10-15 players. I get that in the sense that your team is as good as your top 5 players are. If my 5 best players play better than your top five best players, I will usually win. However what i’m also hearing is we have a serious problem pressuring the opposition QB and protecting our own QB. So in terms of our trenches, specifically on the D side, should not our starting NT (knowing it’s not the only positional D issue on this team e.g WJ floating around freelancing with little impact) be in our top 10-15 best players? Might it be something we invest in more knowing it may take away from another area? Just a thought from an armchair pretend GM.
  17. if your DT made a difference...or any minimal impact...it reverberates to the ends...and other DT...the teams who's ends eat...have a DT or nose who are collapsing the pocket...and sending the QB right into them When WJ...Jeffcoat....the Hansen Kingbo rotation was feasting and causing havoc...They had Nevis...Stove...Sayles....guys of that ilk causing issues inside
  18. Drew was ok but some of you misremembering how important he was. This fascination with drew and Kenny like they make a difference when there’s dudes in and on the qb almost as soon as the ball arrives at times is wild.
  19. On O it’s Kolo Neufeld and Wallace right now. lol at receivers when the QB is on his ass in 2 seconds. on D. They rotate a bit but it’s probably Vaval Lawson and Willie or Vaughters. I know. Not Jake. And that’s cuz with Jake I don’t expect him to make a difference. I expect the ends to make the difference and they haven’t. I think tho it’s really CBs Safety and DL in general. But I mean maybe it’s scheme there if regardless who are corners are we get burned. Likely combination
  20. Issue appears to be mainly OL and DL related. Let’s check the PR. Ohhh umm well…. Hmm ok. 2 DT in Adams and woods and a DE in bailey. and OL we got Vibert and Mayers. get them on
  21. Strev is a legend but unfortunately time has not been kind to him. I’d rather we see Wilson also but I fully expect Zach to be starting. I’d be sorta surprised if Zach isn’t starting
  22. I’m not sure. Tony and Kyrie both have been solid. What makes J Jones better besides I mean, he’s a backup. I don’t think the LB crew has been the problem. Don’t see how he improves it honestly. Least of concerns there really. DL in general and CB are the problem areas on D. Safety also. And if we looking at LB I’d be giving Shay and smith reps instead. And Woodbey and Ayers who are natural linebackers. Few guys ahead of mr jones it seems.
  23. Bryant Kolo and Neufeld all need replacing. Can start with Kolo. Eli couldn’t be worse. If he is, get Vibert on then. He’s a center isn’t he? Vanterpool for Neufeld. Bryant Wallace Eli Vanterpool Randolph
  24. Didn't Jake Thomas used to take reps at oline back in the day.... I think I found a solution !!
  25. Turnstile would be an improvement... he's barely even a pylon out there.
