  2. I haven't been to camp but here's my best representation of what I can gather of the lineup from reports and other sources. Of course we will get the official pre-season game 1 depth chart tomorrow morning.
  3. I actually watched most of that game, randomly, and while there were some softies, I thought the Canada D had some breakdowns. At least one turnover behind their own net, and at least two goals were screens and/or deflected in front. Tal-Bot wasn't great but not entirely his fault. When push cake to shove, though, the Canadian offense looked like they were playing pond hockey out there, when it mattered. The OT goal was ridiculous. May as well have been the Jets top line vs a Tier 3 team playing outta the Highlander...

  8. I've gone to the Dollarama next to Toys R Us on Regent 4 times in the last year. 3 of those times I've seen people walk out with bags of merchandise. The last time I went (last week), after a skeezy guy walked out of the store with two bags I saw the clerk right down on a piece of paper his details. I asked her if it happens a lot and she said that the full piece of paper for what she wrote down his details was the shoplifters she had marked down on her shift for that day. The paper was completely full. Absolutely crazy amounts of theft happening these days.
  9. Looks like Talbot was in net. Outshot Norway 42-19, so I’m guessing he wasn’t on his A game, to say the least. Nice to see Scheifele have a big game…. I hadn’t seen him on the scoresheet until now.

  16. Yeah, and touch is far more critical in the CFL. QBs/offenses live and die with the ability to feather passes into the gaps between the LBers and DBs. I still think he's worth having around, even having on the AR. The ability to battering ram short yardage and in a real pinch, do some throw on the run package in relief is very valuable. I think he could do most of that better than strevy did last year.(low bar I know)

  19. Thorne probably realized he had a solid 3-4 years ahead of him to even get a shot as a starter in this league IF things went well.
  20. TSNScheifele hat trick helps Canada edge Norway in OT, avoid...Mark Scheifele completed his hat trick with an overtime winner Thursday, allowing Canada to avoid a shocking upset with a 6-5 win over Norway in preliminary round action at the IIHF Men’s World HockeyScheif with the hatty as Canada narrowly avoids losing to Norway. WTF? What kind of sieves are we sending over there?
  21. He struggles with touch like you say, his highlight reel from the UFL is chock full of him feathering suicide passes down the middle of the field. It wasn't arm strength, it was touch.
  22. he doesn’t have a huge arm, but it’s enough to make the throws on the cfl field. His touch is sporadic in the mid range though. That’s probably what is being seen, poor touch to the wide side out often causes the ball to float too long making it’ll look under thrown. He’s much better throwing passes like that on the run, but having to roll a guy to make a route consistently is far from ideal.
  23. 100%. And we haven’t seen a cis qb do what the hope is for elgersma. So i’m hoping for the best but prepared to see little to nothing from him this year. His talent does warrant the time too. Could be. Which is fine. I’m not sure on terry. Thorne is a solid talent, he wasn’t going to get the pre season reps to steal a job. I totally get why he made that decision. suspended is best case tbh. We keep his rights but he doesn’t eat a roster spot.
  24. Are we talking about Grey Cup champion and MVP Cody Fajardo? Just checking...
  25. USports is getting more and more complex but you can only scheme to your overall talent level. In the CFL there is just so much more you can do because of the level of athletes on the squad. CFL is infinitely better at disguising their defensive schemes as well. Reading the defence is very different in the pros. The different looks that defences give pre-snap are going to be confusing to any rookie QB at first. You prepare, you study film, but week to week in our league we see progressions to counter film work. QBs in this league take some time to really get it. Some can come in and give you usable contributions but anyone thinking that Elgersma will give us a better chance to win than Collaros this season are probably going to be disappointed. Realistically, about the best case scenario for Elgersma this year is that he sees a little bit of game action and gives our GM and coaches enough reason to consider him for starting next season. That would be the Nathan Rourke/Davis Alexander route, and that would be about the very most we should hope for. However, if TE comes out proves to be a generational talent that becomes probably the first year one starter in the past 15 years, I will gladly accept that as a fortuitous turn of fate and gladly eat crow.
  26. That's too funny, but honestly, he is more like a cross between Fajardo and Streveler.
  27. He should start practicing this position a lot then if he wants to be a Cody clone...
  28. hoping you're right, but I think CFL level DBs are gonna close windows a lot faster than USports guys. question for the guys who know: do USports defences run the same schemes as CFL defences? Will Elgersma have a leg up in his presnap reads and recognition having played USports, or is it a different world in the CFL? (edit: just saw that Gcn20 says that CFL is indeed a different world when it comes to scheme a few posts back.)
  29. Ok...so Perkins to the PR?
  30. No amount of money is going to restore a quality of life to him.
  31. He has about the same arm strength as Cody Fajardo. What's going to surprise a lot of people is that he runs like a running back.

  33. From people who have gone to camp...I've heard Perkins arm strength is limited. That wide side out/corners may not be possible.
