  2. Bell would be doing Johnston a huge favour by signing any deal before even a snap of Stewball has been played. They likely want to see what the game looks like and if it's digestible, if people care and if people still watch.
  3. NEVER give up. Aaron Rogers made a comeback (sort of) after all.
  4. Eli might be the answer, but we will not know until he has had a few games at center and we need to bear in mind that all those games where he mostly warmed the bench did nothing to enhance his confidence or game experience.
  5. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/14/cfl-sets-start-of-2026-season-as-self-imposed-deadline-for-new-broadcast-deal/ Well, same ****, different year. The CFL screwed itself 100 times over by going to a single game provider in 2008. The other networks basically said, Eff You. Now, they're stuck with a shitty provider who chronically underpays because they can do what they want. And a former TSN president negotiating with his old company?? What good can come from that?
  6. I see SB Bruce Boyko #14 had a huge growth spurt over training camp that year.
  7. I don't understand the hills you choose to die on, sometimes. If he & the coaches think he can do it, then they'll move him over to Center or Guard. The guy can still play. No one says he can't. It's time to work in a new guy like Vanterpool at LT to protect Zach's back while he can help us inside. He can still perform outside as well.
  8. Still have my CFL rookie contract from '97. Staying in shape in case they need me. https://grandmamma.com/2026/01/14/running-with-the-big-boys/

  10. Flip side is the training and treatment athletes get these days can allow for them to play longer. A lot of guys didn't take care of themselves properly back then... at least not compared to today's standards.
  11. We have way bigger priorities than DB. Pickett is a luxury we don't really need on a team that needs quite a bit of upgrading in some pretty expensive areas
  12. For sure, ‘recruiting plan’ for any top prospect.
  13. OL career longevity is actually lower now than in Walby and Gorrells time. Different level of athletes on both sides of LOS now.
  14. Not late into their 40's but yes both were starting right up until retirement (1996 was the last season for both). Walby had turned 40 at the end of his last season so he only played a few games past that 40 mark while Gorrell had turned 41 at the end of his final season..
  15. Last year I woulda chased Pickett...but like said here....we way over spending in secondary as it is so that be just robbing from Peter to pay Paul and not really benefitting us I like what we have in Woodbey, Allen, Smith and Shay and we need to let that young talent keeo getting better, and by what has been seen all will be pretty damn good Hopefully we sign Griffin to round it out as he would be a big loss, and is just hitting his prime too, and is also just so dam versatile and perfect for Younger's system
  16. I dunno. I think the Swede would help us more long term or honestly any of the top 2 D.
  17. I’m a Gus fan. I think he has stood out at the moose games I’ve been 2. Him Yager and Fagemo (he’s slow tho and awful defensively but laine like release) have all looked good at forward. I’d call up Gus cuz he’s better than Nyquist Pearson and prob a few others. Solid defensively and great at face offs. Great at the pk also.
  18. Yeah, I figured Gus would need to clear waivers, which means he’s kinda stuck. Zhilkin has looked decent. Hasn’t been good in the face offs from what I’ve noticed. Guys are definitely going to have an extra spring in their step when they get called up. It’s just human nature.
  19. Kind of a nothing burger imo. A US draft just wouldn't work.
  20. It's a no to a US draft....
  21. Possibly. Could also be he’s not as awful as he looks on the moose. Perhaps moose coaching ain’t up to snuff. Guys look 10x better when they called up. Not sure if that’s motivation to stay up or poor coaching on the moose
  22. @DTonOB Made a great point on I believe twitter today. I'm paraphrasing here, but this is the gist. In the last 8 seasons, the CFL has seen 2 ties. 4 total since the 2010 season. But with the field changes in 2027, field goals will be greatly diminished, making ties far less likely. https://x.com/DTonOB Here's a good link to his account, if you're the instatwitterbook type hes well deserving of the follow. On the surface, I don't like ties. But he is absolutely right. With the changes coming to FGs, this is not really needed. On a personal note, I hate the revolving attempts from the 3-yard line. Going play-to-play switches in possession will be a fiasco as well. Especially when half the unit for shortyardage will be the same guys. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/14/cfl-rules-committee-recommends-leaving-late-half-clock-unchanged-eliminating-ties-in-overtime/
  23. Could be part of that 'recruiting plan' for a first round draft pick.
  24. I think he’s on the roster next year full time. Either playing with Josh or 3rd pair as both miller and Schenn are free agents. The Phillips recall is interesting as the couple moose games I’ve been 2 this season he hasn’t stood out at all. Gus requires waivers. Might not clear. Zhilkin has raised his game tho. Don’t hate the 4th line.
  25. Biggie still thought he could play. That is something a lot of players do and it forces tough decisions like last year. It takes a great deal of confidence in yourself to become elite, and at the beginning of a career it's a great trait, at the end it usually results in some humbling.
  26. I’m glad Salomonsson is getting another opportunity, but it’s obviously not great that it’s because our D depth is thin.
  27. completely agree... was kinda hoping we would do that with Bighill last year...
