  2. You are suggesting that you play guys based on salary? What if a team makes a mistake and overpays and then find out that the back up is the next Davis Alexander? Putting in a back up isn't necessarily throwing in the towel. Change of pace, maybe the starter is just having a bad day?
  3. The more your starter plays when a game is out of reach, the more risk for injury. To me, if we're up 21 points going into the fourth quarter, I'd be pulling the starter to protect him. Also, if I was HC, i wouldn't have some clueless rookie as my backup behind Collaros, That's just plain stupid (but we're talking Osh here). I'd be screaming at Walters to sign a veteran qb who has played & has experience like MBT.
  4. The biggest and most universal fallacy in all of pro football fandom is the belief that QB2 or QB3 are somehow a better option than QB1. 95% of the time it simply isn't true. I will leave a 5% because maybe QB1 is just having a really bad day, but all things being equal if your QB2 is better than your QB1 it won't take a coach much time to switch those depth chart positions around. Coaches don't coach to lose. We had nothing behind Collaros the past 2 years that would have even remotely been a better option at any point and time.
  5. Yea...and I am of the opinion that unless a game is completely out of reach you play your starter. It's why he's paid the big bucks. In the CFL we have watched teams come back from double digit deficits in the last 2 mins of a game on many occasions. This isn't the NFL where that would be insurmountable. I don't want my coach to ever throw in the towel on a game for the sake of getting QB2 or QB3 some reps. Just my opinion.
  6. I did the same - I got a lot of the references but not everything so I looked into it. I've never once listened to his music so might not be part of the target audience and it's not going to make me go out of my way to listen to him but I appreciated the opportunity to see/learn something new. They could have done much worse (and have) so I had zero problems with the half time show.

  11. I watched O'Hara yesterday on Neflix. She played Morgan Earp's wife in the motion picture from 1993 called Wyatt Earp starring O'Hara, Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Mark Harmon & Gene Hackman.
  12. Interesting quote...
  13. Our parade is gonna be a doozy. A million people coming downtown.. I have heard it said that "We Didn't Start The Fire" was the final boomer pop song.
  14. For just 2 hockey medals I want us to stay home as I don't really care about the Olympics anymore, then. .
  15. Yep, nothing like looking at a device to learn everything rather than actually getting real reps in practice to get the timing & chemistry down with the receivers. Are you kidding me?

  17. After the show I dug into some of those follow up pieces that explained what every part of the show meant and it was so neat to learn it all.
  18. If you read my sentence i said the dig the culture (and a whole slew of other cultures because of I love diversity and learning of others) not oh I now dig the culture because of Bad Bunny. He just reminded me of why I dig it. :)
  19. So just to be clear you’re agreeing with me IF QB2 is of quality?
  20. Only Gold medal I care about is in Men's and Women's ice hockey. Rest i could give a rat's patootie about.

  24. OBTW, we didn't win a gold medal at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988, either. We won 2 silvers & 3 bronze. Another huge embarrassment. The federal government changed the funding model after the 1988 Winter Olympics fiasco. I know they established a Centre Of Excellence & funding was tied into the number of medals won in each sport. It changed the way the funding model passed the money around. We also had legacy facilities ileft over from 1988 in Calgary, Canmore & Kanasaskis Country for downhill skiing. Later, we also had the Winter Olympic facilities left from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whisler. Canadian athletes didn't have to spend 6 months training for winter sports in Europe & South American Andes Mountains. Those facilities really helped. But they're getting old. They need to be replaced or upgraded. I just did some research. Our worst Winter Olympics ever was in 1972 in Sapporo, Japan. We win just a single silver medal. Karen Magnussen won the silver in Women's figure skating. That was it. One lousy stinking medal.
  25. Not winning a gold medal in 1976 was far worse. By 1980, shitty Olympics were the norm & not the exception. I remember in the 70's sometime, they interviewed a Canadian Olympic athlete during one of the Olympic games that decade. Likely 1976 0r 80. She was over the moon that she finished 26th in some Winter Olympic sport. That it was so great to participate. I remember being angry hearing her comments considering how bad we were as a country. I'm thinking my tax dollars go to support that??? Tjhat was the attitude of a lot of Canadian athletes back then. That they had zero chance of ever winning a medal of any kind. Things had to change.
  26. that's true most of the Euro countries do have a major advantage(my god the 1980 games must have been embarrassing for us) kind of ironic that all of a sudden Canada is excelling at the Summer Games (not that that's a bad thing I consider that a blessing since we had a little trouble in the Aughts and 2012). Still I wish everyone trained like it was Vancouver 2010 again my god that was magical (though granted I think we exceeded that medal count in 2018)
  27. Other than curling & hockey, sometimes randomly, speed skating, downhill skiing or figure skating what sport do we dominate in the Winter Olympics? We'll win 15-20 medals, maybe 3 or 4 gold medals & that'll be it. Since 2006, that's been our medal count history. In the Winter Olys, the Euros like the Swiss, Germans, Austrians, Italians & the States are the countries that win all the medals. The Russians would clean up as well if they were allowed to compete. I think it was the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, Canada won a silver & bronze & that's it. Two lousy medals for a winter country. Canadians used to make fun of both our Olympic teams as we did equally as bad in the Summer Olympics. We hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics & became the first host country not to wina single gold medal. We were embarrassing as a country.
  28. That's an embarrassment. We should be in the medals for every curling event.
  29. Backups only get a few reps in practice. It's hard for them to progress but when they get their chance they have to show they can play. Davis Alexander proved that. I wouldn't write Terry Wilson off just yet. I like Dinglenuts. That's a good name for Hogan. Just think, the Head Dinglenut made him OC & then when Rome was burning all around him, still refused to make a change because his ego was too big to ever admit he ****** up.
  30. Wise men from far & wide have asked that question for many, many years. It is a question that will be studied by scholars for time in memorial. So, you just realized there was Spanish culture because Bad Bunny made it hip. Like, it didn't mean anything before?? It wasn't cool. I'm not into Bad Bunny's music. I had no problem being all in Spanish except it was very boring. I had no idea what the context of the props were about other than the sugar cane field as I couldn't understand the words. I guess he was singing about Puerto Rico. Personally, I didn't care for the halftime show. But I'm 70. I'm not 25 or 46 pretending to be hip. I'm as cool as Bob Hope or Dean Martin. And my music is decades old anyway. They weren't going after me anyway. My target demographic ended in 1990.
  31. I'd take MBT as a backup in a heartbeat. We're trying to win a GC next season. Not build a dynasty for the next decade. Then fine, these older players like Bethel-Thompson, Tim White & Demski are here to win today. Who cares about 2027, 28, 29 or 30? We'll fill those holes when the time comes. I hope we sign MBT.
  32. 100% disagree. It's one thing if you have someone like prime Streveler who can be really effective in giving you that kind of look that can put a D off-balance. But for the most part you're not getting that level of production from backup QB's. They have so much information and pictures available now instantly that this tropey **** about "seeing some snaps from the sideline" and putting the backup in just to provide that has no purpose. If you have a weapon like prime Streveler (he was not that guy in his return from the NFL in 24-25), yeah use him. But that's pretty rare. I don't think you'll see someone play consistently bad and not get pulled if there's a belief on the team that the next guy up would perform better overall.
  33. pretty much average usage in an outlier year league wide. Lots of injuries to qb 1s, idk if any qb3 seriously stepped up. some teams like edm had poor qb play and flipped between two guys. Has wilson had a great opportunity? no. has he had opportunities? yes. has he shown any growth, no. Is the whole league drowning in poor qb play, oh hell yes. Any good/easy answer for a qb2? nope.

  35. Canada now has 2 bronze medals.........are we having a slow start?
