Rich
http://www.tsn.ca/talent/report-russian-hockey-hit-by-mass-doping-scandal-1.465931 Quote Russia’s entire roster will reportedly be replaced just one week prior to the IIHF World Under-18 Men’s World Championship in Grand Forks, N.D., marking the biggest mass doping scandal ever to hit hockey. A source told TSN more than half of the 30 players in Russia’s evaluation camp tested positive for meldonium, a performance-enhancing substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as of Jan. 1. The news was first reported on AllHockey.Ru. Multiple reports indicate Russia’s under-18 entry will be replaced by the country’s under-17 team, comprised of players born in 1999. The under-18 roster has been wiped from the team’s official website. ... The Unknown Poster
The Unknown Poster
How many of these players would be considered for the draft in a couple of years? This has to impact that. And what of the players who weren't doping?
Rich
Actually, that article goes on to say that this particular drug is not yet banned in the NHL, and they wouldn't add a drug to the banned list mid-season. So for now, they would be okay.
Goalie
German Rubstov i believe is a draft eligible russian but he's been playing in the CHL i believe, He's a good one and i highly doubt this effects his stock in anyway.

bigg jay
It's not just hockey in Russia that's being hit hard. There have been 114 Russian athletes, in various sports, test positive for Meldonium in the first 12 weeks since WADA made it a banned substance (and that number does not include the hockey team). Their entire track & field program has already been banned from international competition (not good in an Olympic year!) so I have a feeling there will be much more to come. Mike
The way the WADA did this is an absolute joke though.
bigg jay
Yep, apparently there's no concrete testing available to tell how long it stays in your system so there are athletes claiming that they took meldonium when it was legal but are still getting popped. They have to prove to WADA that they stopped when the ban came into effect but there's really no way to do that.

bigg jay
Yes. She's the most well known to get popped but there have been world champions & Olympic gold medalists as well.
Mr Dee
In the Men's World Curling Championship, the Russian team apparently all "got sick" and the entire lineup was replaced just days before the event started. Go figure.

kelownabomberfan
I still remember when Beckie Scott said that the two Russians who came ahead of her at Salt Lake were blood doping and that bonehead **** Pound gave her all kinds of **** for saying that, and then they got busted for darbepoetin and Beckie ended up with the gold while **** had to eat crow. Talk about a cheating culture in Russia. Just ridiculous.
