Jets Prospects

Kyle Connor has 48 point in 27 games an average of 1.7787 points per game .

Dylan Larkin had 47 points in 35 games for the same team last year for an average of 1.343 points per game .

Jack Eichel had 71 points in 40 games in his last year of college for  an average of 1.775 points per game .

I see Connor making the team in the fall and actually signing in March and getting a couple of weeks on the Jets roster at the end of the season.

I am hoping to see Connor on one wing with Wheeler or Ehlers or Armia on the other wing with Scheif or Matthews at center.

Going forward... Connor Scheif Wheeler Armia Ehlers and Matthews/Laine/Puljujärvi look like a pretty solid top 6 for a few years.

Lemieux, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Lowry, Harkins, De Leo,  Lipon, and Spacek will be fighting for roster spots sooner or later.

We have Comrie and Helle and Phillips for depth in goal and look to be set for some time.

Our D, on the other hand, needs some help on the depth. Besides Morrissey, there isn't much coming up the pike on the left hand side and I fully expect the Jets to take some LHD at this draft or trade for one by this time next year. There is Sami Niku and not much else. The RHD right now is very good but not a great deal coming up the pike. Hopefully Kostalek makes the team in at least a 3rd pairing position and hopefully Glover and/or Poolman and/or Nogier turn out.

Laine shoots right and Vesalainen shoots left.  Both have that great shot.  Defend that!

with all the talent we already have, adding another piece like Vesa in a few seasons is a crazy concept.  if we keep this group together... yikes.

Wheeler is the X Factor for me.  Im not worried about the Jets 3 or 4 years from now.  But if our window is truly opening, how does re-signing Wheeler or not re-signing Wheeler impact us?

good call but we do have a plethora of natural centres and wings who can play centre so if he chooses to walk/declines in skills then I think we will be ok if we can't replace him via FA or trade.

Best overall player on the team...hmmmm....hmmmm

Crazy talk to let Wheeler walk - the team took a leadership hit after Ladd walked and can't afford that again...

I say you go all in for the next 4-5 years as a contender

Your ideal term is three years at $6 million - that should see you thru Copp, Connor and Roslo's RFA deals

Did I mention I like this kid?

Very nice. Have to catch a game to see what his speed is. Ehlers or Laine or something in between.

Wheeler will take a 3 or 4 year hometown discount to stay. Guaranteed. Hes not young anymore. Hes not getting more than 4 or 5 years max... If hes out to cash in... Id trade him and get a haul.

3 or 4 x 6.

Bet Buff is moved in the off season. Theres 1 crazy prediction for yall... Buff traded at or near the draft.

fair enough so who is likely going to be signing the next entry level contract?

Since Kyle Connor is no longer the future but now playing for the Jets, I’ve rename the topic here to Jets Prospects

Allow me this moment to remind you all that Vesalainen is 6'4, 210lbs.  Oh and he's 18 years old.

Yet to see a game but how does he skate? Ehlers or Laine or inbetween?

watched him a bit during the World Juniors.  Definitely Armia 2.0.  Ha!  He's a great skater, very strong on the puck, and he's only going to get stronger.  Kid's only 18, with a pretty high ceiling.  Ok I think I've used all of the scouting buzzwords I know.

20 years old. 5’8”. 161lbs. Plays for Portland Winterhawks.

7th round pick by the jets in 2017.
