Free Agency 2016...

Target Date for Free Agency Feb. 9th 12 noon ET - 11 am Winnipeg - 9 am Kelowna

The Bombers will lead into the pre-draft weekend with a press conference tomorrow, February 5th, at 10:00am to discuss Free Agency as it pertains to the Blue Bombers.

Below is a list of the Bomber's free agents:

Capers, Selvish    OL    International

Gibson, Thaddeus    DL    International

Hajrullahu, Lirim    K    National

Marshall, Cameron    RB    International

Newman, Graig    DB     National

Pontbriand, Michel-Pierre    FB     National

Washington, Demond    DB    International

Moore, Nick    WR    International

Shell, Lin-J    DB    International

Walker, Chevon    RB    International

Extended :

Daniels, Jace    OL     International    Extended (12/14/15)

Nichols, Matt    QB    International    Extended (01/05/16)

Richardson, Louie    DL    National    Extended (01/25/16)

We already know N. Moore won't be extended, and I've assumed Walker and Shell are gonzo, so that leaves 7 players, including 3 Non-imports. How many of these 7 guys will be announced as re-signed by Walters tomorrow?

Any guesses or half wishes, preferences?

Marshall? Hajrullahu? Pontbriand? Newman? What about Washington?

Didn't Free Agency open at 11:30?

Welcome home Harris! I just hope we didn't overpay him too much.

We'll never really know.

I'm so torn on Ryan Smith. I like him a lot but Smith/Dressler/Denmark terrifies me.

Lots of speed but I would love to have one guy that can get the jump ball

Trevor Harris to Ottawa? Holy ****. I'm surprised it isn't Montreal.

Agreed, let's review the tape of Arcenaux running over Washington one more time.

Does Ottawa keep Burris at 475K with Harris in the fold?

Strange, Burris is a lot more durable than Ray but I expected RB's to go after Harris.

From Free Press story Jan 22nd regarding Smith:

The Bombers brain trust had still not received an answer as of late Friday from Dressler, who is also being courted by the Calgary Stampeders, who lost their big play wide receiver, Eric Rogers, to the NFL this week.

Regardless of what happens with the Dressler negotiations, expect the Bombers to also aggressively pursue Riders wideout Ryan Smith if he hits the free-agent market.

The Bombers think Smith — who had a breakout season in 2015, hauling in 59 catches for 991 yards and seven touchdowns on a terrible offence — could actually be better value than Dressler. Smith is 24 — six years younger than Dressler — and is believed to be seeking a three-year deal, which would also give the Bombers some stability at the position.

And on top of all that, Smith grew up just over the border in Wahpeton, N.D., and went to school in Fargo at NDSU. The fact he’d be playing close to home if he signs in Winnipeg, combined with the fact playing football in cold weather won’t be new to him would make a Smith signing a win-win for both the player and the Bombers.

Even if the Bombers land Dressler in the coming weeks, it’s very possible they will still pursue Smith come Feb. 9. The Bombers will free up $185,000 in salary when they say goodbye to Nick Moore, who will hit free agency next month and whom the Bombers aren’t interested in re-signing, even at a reduced rate.

I would be thrilled with Harris/Smith/Medlock and one of Laurent/Laing/Capicotti.

Medlock is a bad idea. He can't punt.

Not a lot of distance. Excellent accuracy.

Bombers have no intention of punting this year, FG's and TD's galore.

Lirim can't kick or punt.
