"His numbers are good while dragging around an anchor and shoot up when paired with someone that can actually play the game. He has been playing against the other team's better players and is arguably the best defensive D man on the team. His numbers also would be better if he had more PP time. He is a starting 2nd pairing D man at 22. He has never once complained in public about anything and has ALWAYS stated that he wants to play here. This is a player that could be an assistant captain and leader of  your team for years to come.

If you do bridge him I will advise him to go through arbitration after that 2 year contract and the Jets will eventually lose him to free agency in no more than 2 years after that. If you bridge him and he plays really well, you won't get him long term and  you won't get him for under 6m.

Also, you don't have to worry about him in 2 years when Ehlers, Lemieux, Morrissey Petan, De Leo, Kostalek, and Comrie are up as RFAs and Little is up as an UFA."

If Trouba gets bridged for 2 years (not gonna happen) and plays lights out paired with Buff or Toby, what is he going to want per year after that contract (when a LOT of other contracts are up)? Get him locked up now and even 6m per in only 4 years will seem like  a bargain.

How'd I do? Honeslty?

Need a rfa goalie or one under contract to expose.  Pav is ufa. Helle is rfa but they'd keep him. Comrie is rfa but doesn't qualify I don't think.

You can sign hutch 2 years. Expose him. He won't get picked but regardless sounds like if you can't meet the requirements you lose a player or draft picks.

I think its time to stop thinking about Myers and Enstrom's contracts as 'cap friendly'...

They make the same as Brent Burns and Dougie Hamilton...  you think they are worth that?

We all laughed at Mike Green's $6 million per year...

Enstrom contract is probably haunting the Jets...  It will end up at arbitration and Chevy will get 4.5

Offers to our RFAs if I were GM...

Lowry gets 2m and 2.25m over two years...Hutch (we need a goalie for the expansion draft) would get 1m per for two years. Armia would be offered 1.5m per for two years. Lipon would be offered 850k per for two years.

Not worried that much about those guys but Lowry might get a look at from Cal.

I think Maata and Trouba are a pretty interesting comparison.

Maata just signed 6 years @ just over $4M

Here is a comparison of their stats over the last 2 years.  Note that this also includes Maata's playoff games (only option for more than one year comparison).

This is a look at just last season:

Trouba has a slight edge in points but that is mostly due to more ice time and less games missed (staying healthy does count for something ...  point per game they are almost equal).   Trouba has a huge advantage in physicality (hits and blocks) but has also almost double the amount of giveaways.

Contract wise, Maata is a year younger so you would be buying one more year of UFA if you went 6 years for Trouba. That would increase the price (4.5 - 5M?).   The price would go up even more if you went longer term.

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired goalie Frederik Andersen from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the 30th overall pick in the upcoming draft and a second round pick in next year's draft.

Well Chevy, Toronto just solved their goaltending problem for a couple years.

Until he proves it he's just another Vessa Toskala or Jonathan Bernier. Anderson is a good goalie but 5 plus a year? For a guy who has played behind a great Anaheim team who will now play behind a very very young Toronto team? Not so sure about that.

And BTW... Helle is our goalie of the future

Toronto fans are all giddy about this tonight, same fans that thought that Bernier should of been chosen to the Olympic team as the 3rd goalie when they traded for him, also with this signing don't know how they will sign Stamkos:lol:

Least surprising Jets news IMO.

Pretty clear succession plan in the works for Helle and Comrie. Pavs as a backup this season or traded, and Hutch gets exposed on expansion draft.

Only real question is where Hutch plays if Pavs isn't dealt.

Thats why it's interesting.  Knowing the Jets, they will have Helle start on the Moose.  But given his time in the NHL, he is eligible for the expansion draft, no?  So they have to protect him, leaving Pavs and Hutch exposed.  At $1.5m, I find it difficult to believe the Jets see Hutch as an AHL'er (who would have to clear waivers to go down anyway).  Clearly, the plan is to not re-sign Pavs after this season (and actually since he's going into Free Agency, he wouldnt be expansion draft eligible anyway.

So either they waive Hutch to the Moose and pay him $1.5m to share duties with Comrie or Helle starts on the Moose again.  Or they are planning to trade Pavs and go with Helle/Hutch.

hey, at least Bernier has a hot fiancé.  I know this because of Hockey Wives.
