Ricky Ray out six weeks

Featured Replies

Bummer for them. It's not a lot of fun riding your backup for weeks at a time.

Lucky for the Argos it's only 6 weeks. Wouldn't want to be heading into the playoffs with a raw qb.

I could see this causing attendance at Argo home games to drop below 20,000.  Oh wait, they were below 20,000 even with Ricky Ray playing.

Good news for us will get a real long look at him.

i guess bad news too since we are not playing them on that span. on the other hand MTL, EDM and HAM do.

6 weeks of Collaros eh...trades prior to the expansion draft just got a whole lot more interesting...

If Collaros looks good does Toronto re-sign him and protect him?  This is going to be interesting.

I heard some talk about that in TO...but I suspect common sense will prevail...

Also have to start questioning Ray's durability.  Their backup (if they keep Ray) next season likely won't be of high quality unless they make a move, so can you operate with an aging QB who has missed 4+ starts in back to back seasons?  Is it a trend or a blip?

We should trade for Ray.

Toronto must know how frigged they are now with Ray going down like this.

I can't believe we pick this year, with the Calvillo situation and now Ray, to suck so badly at virtually everything we've tried.

Just a couple of victories would have had us in the thick of it.

So, at what point does a team trade a pick or whatever to Ottawa, in order for them to not select one of their two passable QB's?

I don't see any way that Toronto gives up either of Ray or Collaros.

Collaros is a free agent at the end of the year

Now, we'll see just how good Milanovich is as a coach. I think he's been riding the Ricky Ray bandwagon  just like he rode the same Anthony Calvillo one  in Montreal.

The RR bandwagon didn't seem to work for several Edmonton coaches...

Didn't it? In Reeds first year weren't the esks into double digit wins? If that's not a coach riding the Ray train then what is? Edmontons been pretty devoid of talent for a while, Ray was the only thing keeping them afloat.

Oh sure...but then there were the 2006 and 2007 seasons where they missed the playoffs. Point is, teams that are poorly managed won't have a good season even with a proven QB.

but sometimes that proven qb keeps things from looking even worse than they are.

We should trade for Ray.

and Tate.

Possibly cost him MOP. Does Sheets have it locked up now?

It would be interesting to see what our record would be with a healthy Ray from week 1.  Probably around .500 and in the hunt.

Ray would figure out the blitz real quick and burn the D. stopping it in its tracks.  Plus the run would open up for Simpson with play action.

With Ray you can actually build an offense around what he does well, the way the D played in the 2 games against Montreal I have no problems saying they'd have won those two games, they would have beaten Hamilton in week 3 most likely as well, probably woulda beaten BC also. So that's at least 4 wins, never mind how many other games might have changes with a more efficient offense. I have no problems saying that if you put RIcky Ray on the Bombers they're a playoff team this season, the east is that poor.

Yeah, a third place playoff team, maybe.  There are just too many problems.

Blatant missed blocks by the OL, questionable safety play, questionable OLB play, lack of a dominant nose tackle (allowing OL to block the MLB), lack of halftime adjustments, etc. etc. etc.

Think we could get Lumsden out of retirement?

We would still not be elite for sure but with Ray we make the playoffs then a win or two away from the Cup.  An elite Q.B. gives you that chance.

Now, would our coaches even be able to come up with a game plan for Ray?  Probably not but if we had Ray with LaPo here in 2011 or 2012 we would be a good team today imo.
