Actually, I’d wager we have one of the worst offensive staffs for that. 

Costello is the only must keep. I’d like to keep jackson as well. But if we go in a different direction i wouldn’t be heart broken. (I’d love masoli as a qb coach). Hogan and billy jean can kick their can down the road. And bolduc I’m pretty meh on. Wouldn’t want to keep him and jackson we need heavy change.

Imagine how good our secondary would look with that kind of pressure from 3-4 guys regularly? The D would be scary

Yeah regardless of what happens this playoffs...I hope we cut bait with the works save for Costello and Jackson...I'd be happy with Jackson as the OC/QB coach tho....

It's been blatantly obvious OC Clown guys has nbo clue....has an ego a well...why I'm unsure and just isnt cut out to be a pro OC

I’d be good with that. Best case if we promote jackson to oc, is we bring in a support coach. Either some one who has been an oc a lot and can support jackson with the minutia. Or maybe younger/cfl rookie type with experience in more diverse us systems who can be developed here but also give hands on insight to specific systems we want jackson to grow into. Like some one with more spread to run zone running schemes outside of tite/izr who can diversify our run game. Or some one with more experience in spread RPO to help our guys execute reads and work options much more effectively. Like calgary did last year.

The qb situation has to change ....unfortunately I think we've seen the last of Streve.....We have Artopoeus ,Wilson and a big question mark if Zack packs it in.....I'd like to see Elgersma brought in AND it looks like Tre Ford is going to be  available ...BIG ??question marks in 26'...After the post season we better have a plan

Wilson is not a toolsy QB at all.  Out of 20 passes, 1 was great.  That's ******* horrific for any QB at this level.  He can't pass on the move and the only reasonable skill he has is running off a rollout/boot.

Low velocity passes, poor accuracy, poor decisions.  Can't put the ball on a guy.  Any pass over about 5 yards is a lob or in the dirt.  Guy has zero confidence is his own arm.  There's not anything to develop there on a guy who is 28 by next training camp.

I've been meaning to ask you for your thoughts on Wallace... How do you feel he's progressed, if he has at all .. does he have the potential to become a full time Guard at some point?

Very much agree with this....the interception was exactly as you describe it, an inexperienced qb trying to cosey the ball into a spot. Yes Hogan should be fired. And who the he&* dreamed up those 2 useless shovel passes?? Brutal

THATS just the kids natural skill....and watching BO....There is no real "caoching" going on in practice on how to be a runningback at this level....its all about reps and visualization and seeing things now

meh....not really....maybe studying scheme and responsibility but tht's also on the player to have his nose in playbook and know his role on a play, and to recognize when to pick up the extra guy or free guy

I am sure BO is in his ear more telling him and showing him that in practice and film work...as AH did for him

You get better playing and putting that knowledge to use...not running skelly or being scout RB mimicking the other teams systems

I don’t agree. Peterson basically came in and is today the guy he was when he arrived. 

 And while he’s had some good backs under him, none made significant strides while with him, most had their best play after not being with him any more.

Depends a lot on how and where it’s being drilled. Augustine made his strides blocking the place he did covering kicks, on teams.

It really does. and the change is like to see is zach retiring. But idk how you add a real qb1 this off season. 

Personally, I don’t see a great fit for both ford and elgersma. Ford could run strev package and short yardage etc, but I wouldn’t want either he or elgersma to be the first guy off the bench taking over a game.

Both Elgesma and Ford would be a big upgrade on who we rostered this year. I wouldn't have a problem with either one.

I want Ford to be a great QB worse than bad.... But how on earth can you watch anything he's done and say that he's an upgrade over anyone in the league? Definitely not an upgrade over anyone we currently have.

Problem with that is we didn’t have a proper qb2 this year either. We need to do better next year, and not marginally better at qb. 

If masoli retires i could see bc going for ford. Back up canadian to the canadian and buck can run his strev pack stuff

He’s an upgrade over streveler at doing streveler things. But not an upgrade as a qb. Because as of yet, he hasn’t shown to remotely be a qb in the cfl. 

 I think highly of elgersma, but It would be crazy for him to take real reps next year. 

This year has shown you need a qb2 who can start, run the offence and win. Not just come off the bench. 

If he’s available, I’d look at crum. I also don’t think we’d be in the market to pay ford what he’d want

How much would a thrice benched 28 year old QB command on the open market?

I wonder if the Bombers might be forced to do something with Hogan. Jackson was interim coach in Edmonton and obviously QB coach is a big step back. I would imagine if he doesn't get a promotion he would be a candidate in at least Ottawa for the HC or OC gig

He was twice benched before he got the big deal he’s on. Same happened to mbt fajardo etc. Likely in the 200k plus incentives range.
Meanwhile, Idont like elgersma will come cheap since he’s still pining for an nfl pr deal. He might think he could get a second tc shot. 

I hope so, but we do tend to move glacially slow with these decisions.

If I was building a defense I'd start with an aggressive front four. Everything else just falls into place.

Oh gawd, not Ford. We don't need a glorified running back as a qb.  Ford's brutal. Killam gave him a fair shot. The experiment lasted 6 games & now both the Elks HC & GM Ed Hervey can't wait to get rid of him.

He is/was better then Strev.   He's worth a shot but only in the right system and he would really benefit sitting behind a veteran QB or a guy like Dave Dickenson coaching him for a year or two.    

We unfortunately don't have two years to invest in a guy for him to get better.

Is there any mechanism in the CBA to allow Elgersma to get anything other than the standard ELC out of the Bombers? Maybe some additional marketing money? I think there was some confusion with Rourke and his contract coming back from the NFL because the standard rookie contract is 2 years + a team option... so in theory BC could have paid him a pittance when he came back but obviously that was never going to happen.

I guess this is the relevant piece of the CBA here

How short sighted of the CFL to even have this in the CBA. The word cheap just cries out.

This is standard language and terms in pretty much every major sports league. Teams want control over the players they draft and develop and have them being somewhat cost controlled.

This is actually LESS onerous than most other leagues. NHL is 3 years and then restricted free agency. NBA is 2 years plus 2 years of team options then restricted free agency. NFL is 4 years then a team option I think (3 years if undrafted). MLB is the king of cost-controlling players, I don't think most players make their debut in the majors until their mid twenties, and then there is all kinds of weird rules and arbitrations... I think average age of hitting unrestricted free agency in baseball is something ridiculous like 32. 

NFL used to have unlimited contract value on their rookies, but teams pushed back on having their first overall picks being their highest paid players.
