I don't see a scenario where he comes back to this locker room. He basically told everyone in that room he thinks they're not good enough, and what... you're gonna sit Skinner who's doing a good job (and seems like a great locker guy), send Mud down for this guy and what is personally best for him?

You cannot send Stevenson down, he needs to stay on the NHL roster or he goes back to the Capitals.

If he stays on the NHL roster for a season, then you can attempt to send him down.

Almost every piece I read about this situation describe it as a standoff.

A player has requested to be traded with very specific parameters of what he want to opt out of a long-term contract he signed willingly under no duress with an employer three years ago.

Therefore the standoff I guess is the Jets GM having a five year window to ensure, as he has put it, to 'get it right'.

Really interesting article in the Free Press today on what happens and the options available to all involved if Helle decides he's coming back to perform his contractual duties while his very specific trade request is accomodated to his liking.

If he comes back and for some reason he has to play, play him as a back-up as a co-worker that has put in his notice till a deal has transpired. Unfortunately that means putting Stevenson on waivers.

If they really like Stevenson, and it certainly seems like they do, there’s no way they can risk putting him on waivers. They’ll have to carry 3 goalies.

If/when Hellebuyck is back, and he gets into a game, I can’t imagine anything but boos at home, so maybe they just give him road starts for a while. I don’t think not playing him is a good option, but I don’t know the ins and outs of all of this.

I really think they need to put Vigo and Yaeger on the same line. Those two developed some serious chemistry.

Might not be a bad idea. I feel like he handles his responsibilities pretty well, but he does struggle with the face offs. Not sure how Yager is though either.
