In all-out war, even if nuclear weapons were not used, conventional "bunker buster" bombs would mean that Kin Jong-Il would die alongside his whole family and retinue. If the strike did not kill him, he would be buried so deep that all in the bunker would never see daylight again.

Russian Enemies of Kremlin Meet to Plot Violent ‘Elimination’ of Putin

The anti-Kremlin group, which includes several former Russian politicians, met in Poland and discussed staging a civil war, taking up arms, and killing Vladimir Putin.
Anti-Russia activists and former Russian lawmakers opposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin have been gathering in Poland in recent days to discuss what removing Putin from power would look like nearly nine months into his war in Ukraine.

Some of the scenarios the anti-Russia group discussed include Russians staging a civil war, taking up arms, and killing Putin, according to Euractiv.

A guerrilla fight may be the only way to take down Putin, said opposition activist Viacheslav Maltsev. “The main goal is to physically eliminate Putin,” Maltsev said. “The fight against terrorists requires terrorists’ methods,” one politician present said, according to Gazeta Wyborcza.

Ilya Ponomarev, a former member of the State Duma and the only Russian lawmaker to vote against annexing Crimea in 2014, arranged the gathering, and has said he is organizing an underground resistance movement in recent months. Some have expressed doubts about whether he actually leads a coalition of rebels, while others have questioned if he has become too radical and violent, as The Daily Beast reported. Allies of opposition leader Alexey Navalny did not participate in the gathering, according to Euractiv.

Regardless of Ponomarev’s claims and tactics, though, the gathering in Poland this weekend is just the latest signal that those opposed to Putin are growing more vocal by the day.

The chatter of a Putin ouster comes as he struggles to make gains in his war in Ukraine, with dissent for his war growing in Russia. Ukrainian forces have been gaining momentum since they began mounting counteroffensives against Russian forces in the south and northeast of Ukraine, forcing Russians to retreat. And in a push to replace those lost on the battlefield, Putin announced a “partial mobilization” for eligible Russian men—but instead of responding with support, hundreds of thousands of Russians responded with a massive exodus from the nation to flee conscription.

Russian officials in St. Petersburg and Moscow have also called for Putin’s ouster in recent months. Elite circles in Russia are also starting to rally behind the idea that Putin needs to leave power, according to a close former aide of Putin’s, his speechwriter, Abbas Gallyamov.

American military reports that, in their estimate, Russia has lost close to 100,000 troops in their attack on Ukraine and more than half their armoured vehicles and artillery. Winter is coming and all the winter gear for the ground forces that were ordered and paid for by the Russian government are nowhere to be found.  This on top of no or outdated (WW2) weapons, scarcity of both food and water at the front lines and behind every front line, there are secondary emplacements whose job it is to shoot any retreating troops. Over the past month, the survival time for new troops has shrunk from 9 days to 3 days. Many Russian troops surrender with their armoured vehicles as soon as they get to the front lines, and are surprised by the humane treatment they receive. They also report that many have not eaten in days, and their officers fled as soon as the firefights or bombardments started.

In his nightly video address on Sunday, Zelenskyy said without details that "investigators have already documented more than 400 Russian war crimes, and the bodies of both civilians and military personnel have been found."

"In the Kherson region, the Russian army left behind the same atrocities as in other regions of our country," he said. "We will find and bring to justice every murderer. Without a doubt."

As has been widely reported, as the Russian army retreated, several unmarked mass graves have been found containing Ukrainian soldiers as well as civilians, women and children. many with their hands bound behind them and shot execution-style. Several of the men had been castrated. More such discoveries are expected.

In one event, a Wagner Group mercenary was captured by the Ukrainians, and traded back to the Russians only to be killed with a hammer to the head while the incident was livestreamed.

Today, the UN General Assembly voted to hold the Russians wholly responsible for the war and attacks directed at civilians and civilian infrastructure. As a consequence, Russia is now responsible for all such damages and Ukraine can pursue the seizure of Russian assets of all kinds everywhere in the world as war reparations.

After his fuckery with Trump, 2016 election, he might have had an  inkling that some powerful Americans were unhappy with him.  Yet, he gave them the opening to punish him.

I assume they are playing the long game to prevent a giant war and hope that Putin is "removed" from within Russia.
