  • Jets leave themselves with $7.7M in cap space this season.  $7.6M of which was ear marked for Buff. Remember when they first came back and a lot of the talk was that they would be a budget team a

Laine must be headed for the second line with a new Centre...  unless they go Connor-Copp-Ehlers

Sure looking like Maurice will stick us with Bourque and Letestu just long enough to find out they are slow and can't play anymore...

CSW

Laine-Copp-Ehlers

Perrault-Lowry-Roslo

Bourque-Letestu-Appleton

Not sure what to do with Little when he's back...  ?

Luoto deserved a shot on the Jets roster.  What is Maurice's obsession with these old broken down retreads?  Bourque is only 29, but they are AHL players... Put them there.

Bourque will sit in the press box, not complain, and be ready to play when called upon. That's why Maurice likes the vets.

Well, he and his partner finished 3rd in the Crawford's Camp annual fall bass tourney (east of Kenora) this past weekend, so I'd imagine that tournament season is about wrapped up and he's ready to start thinking about hockey again...

To retain Buff, we need to strategically give him time off throughout the season (i.e., 'have fun fishing, playing with your kids see you when you get back')

He has decent speed for his age from what I saw. Letestu though...

Little out indefinitely with a concussion, Beaulieu out a month with UBI...

Copp. Lowry. Roslo. Guss. Who gets the job.

Hmmm

that second line could be good. Have to assume Guss goes in at 4C soon.

way too much hate for Letestu among fans. He's not a superstar, but when he was an Oiler, I thought he was solid if unspectacular. You can do a lot worse in the bottom 6...and a PP2 specialist.

Among those options then it's Copp. Has Roslo been a center for Jets? Don't recall and Google says he's a RW.

Roslo is a center was drafted there and played there in the minors but Maurice refuses to put him there with the Jets. Might be trouble with him not getting a shot in the top 6 imo...

Niku Moose bound.

Until he's physically ready. He can still move without waivers.

The problem is that he can't play with the puck in the O zone all the time...and on the road coaches who line match intelligently are going to burn the Jets, which will then lead to PoMo playing the 4th line w/Letestu 3 minutes a night and running the top 6 into the ground.  Too many guys on the 23 who are poor without the puck and at the blue lines, and Letestu is one of them.

That was also 2+ years ago now. He was mediocre in the AHL last year and is 34 now. He is also a bottom-5 skater in the league when teams are getting faster and faster so no, you can’t get much worse than him. You can’t really get worse than Bourque on the third line either. Bitetto making the team is also a worst case, Armageddon type scenario. He is quite literally the worst defenceman in the NHL based on a number of metrics. This team took a big step forward ridding themselves of two defencemen that could not move the puck forward to save their lives in Myers and Chiarot but that doesn’t matter if the replacement is one of the few defencemen in the league worse than either of them. Pionk will be fine in the Myers role and Niku and Heinola are too talented not to succeed. Poolman should have a nice season as well but anytime Bitetto is on the ice, it will take a miracle to not get scores on. Meanwhile, a guy like Gustafson does literally everything Letestu does and has a great camp only to sit in the press box? Why? Because he’s young and Letestu is old? Maurice is so predictable and just so, so stupid and stubborn it’s truly unbelievable sometimes. It’s like he’s trying to prove than he’s untouchable no matter what he does.

So with Niku down I've got Pionk, Poolman and Kulikov on the RHD to start.

Kulikov playing his off side better then Nogier? Hmmm.

Kulikov at either side is not good but infinitely better than Nogier who isn’t even particularly good in the AHL.

Carl Dahlstrom, where does he fit? Hopefully he can provide us some depth?

Apparently a big guy with decent speed but has shitty fancy stats, which I couldn't care less about...

The Jets could always bring back Morrow who's a free agent if desperate.

It looks like Biteto will be playing... How much more desperate can we get?

It did not take long before the Jets are picking D off of waivers. Why don't we have enough RHD? Even Niku is left-handed but plays RHD.
