Als About To Drop Willy & Matthews? Manziel Now An Al

Kavis Reed is heading into the fire pit here in CGY, and he's doing the same old roster crap on Mike Sherman causing his lunch money to be stolen.  This is nonsense.

The Als must shake up their roster and throw away bad QBs.

Make Vernon Adams QB 1

Trade Drew Willy to Edmonton for Kevin Glenn

Send Jeff Matthews to Ottawa for Dominique Davis

Granted there are other parts to the deal, but 2 first round picks and a Canadian starter for a QB that hasn't played a down yet is beyond lunacy.

Was Brendan Taman hired as a consultant to the Al's this year? I've never seen a team so happy to trade away picks since the Taman-led Bombers.  Was this trade submitted on Subway napkins?  That would

Not from me- Every time I get pissed at his play during a game, I recall the hit he laid on the manny show and he is forgiven...

There's likely no QB tonight who's going to look good against that defense.  But at this point you might as well use the whole bullpen because your starter is an absolute dud when he isn't injured.

Schiltz just needs to cap the drive off with a TD and he wins Willy's job

There it is, the nail in Willy and Matthews' coffins

Als score more than Redbacks already

Whether or not they win, at least he isn't quitting the fight out there

19-8 score

Glass muamba

Raw first week in Canada rookie LT gets killed on a twist and Shiltz is tasting his breakfast and lunch again.

Ouch on that hit he took throwing that pick

He just needs to keep pulling the trigger quick and not stare down the guy and he could get things going for MTL

I like the call to go for it but that was a poorly designed play

When people say Lapo over thinks and tries to outsmart himself.....  that last play on 3rd and 1 at their own 20 by Montreal was a classic trying to overthink how to get a yard.   Terrible play call.

That was stupid. He Shiltz the bed on that one

What the hell was that 3rd down play?

I don't think Sherman understands bootlegs don't work on Claybrooks's defense

I don't know if that was a pass play off a zone read or if Shiltz was trying to run a zone read bootleg around the edge there.  Either way when the DE plants his feet in that zone read play the ball has to go to the back.

That's too bad, it would've been nice to see Montreal continue that drive.

Wonder if Sheman wishes he never came North.

Between the Al's record, and the foreign exchange, probably.

Hey, he's still getting one more paycheck to take to retirement even if there is foreign exchange involved

Did not take long for him to get hurt

With the look on his mug after that 3 down disaster he'll need a few

To be fair this game probably was about as good as one could expect from the Als.  Might be a low expectation but that team is just far too superior to them to expect a win and to only give up 25 points with their D constantly being on the field really is not bad.

I'd also say

1. Start Schiltz your next game

Sure he stared down a receiver a few times and had his difficulties, but his lack of experience plus lack of a good OL, lack of sufficient weapons and going up against the most elite defense in CFL history practically guaranteed he had no chance of winning this game anyway.  He's better than Willy and Matthews both, neither of which could have thrown that TD pass.  Since this 2013 Bomber replica team has to be blown up eventually and drop Willy and Matthews like dead weights, Schiltz and probably Adams need to get their time in.

2. I think Mike Sherman may be getting fired soon

Reason I think this is because I just don't see many coaches even when losing willing to go for it on 3rd down deep in their own territory.  I know he knew he'd probably need to take a few risks tonight to have a shot, but that kind of desperate call tells me he's gotta be feeling the heat already.

If Montreal doesn’t at least give Sherman the season they won’t be able to hire anyone on the reasonable side of Tom Higgins to be their next head coach.  This franchise would be going full on Ottawa Rough Riders of the 90s.

Actually I think the Bombers D during the Tyrone Jones - James West era were far more elite.
