Canadian Politics

I didn't think we had a thread for this.

Is Trudeau this out of touch or does he just not care?

The holocaust comparisons have me legit sick to my stomach. There is not one thing in Canada going on right now that compares to the start of the holocaust. No red flags. Not a one. They built the f

Sure looks like she will win. If Notley came out against Trudeau she would likely have a big lead. Might happen yet.

Notley's apparently not a slimy, lying scoundrel who blames everything wrong with Alberta on Trudeau and Ottawa.

Yep...but the voters apparently don't agree.

Oh, she's not into lying and dog whistles?

Maybe Notley should take something out of the alt-right playbook and blame everyone else. I heard she actually has policies beyond "***k Trudea". It's probably confusing the right.

I'm beginning to question whether a certain poster is arguing in good faith.

Only those with an IQ roughly equal to their shoe sizes, and that is a sizeable number.

Albertan voters continue to struggle with going full MAGA. Similar to the citizens living in red states, they will vote against their interests because F Trudeau and the NDP = evil commies.

Shocking emoticon.

Let’s not go to far.

First election sign that I've seen so far in my tiny little UCP stronghold....

And it's NDP! (if I was betting, in this town, I'd say it's teachers or some other union member)

Hoping this is a positive sign that things are gonna go Progressive in this province at the end of the month...

I know a few folks from your town.
While not the loudest, there are absolutely some brilliant gems of humans on the progressive side over there.
I can’t lose faith in a place that has people like Bev Towes, just for one example.

Gotta take the polls in Alberta for what they are. There are a HUGE pool of undecided voters on all these polls and those are the people who will determine things. Not sure Danielle Smith has what it takes to not alienate them.

DS campaigning on huge tax cuts, F Trudeau and I don’t take follow-up questions.
Okay what services and jobs will be cut as a result?

You forgot creating a bastion of freedom in Alberta which has strong ties and partnerships with Florida, South Dakota etc.

For Alberta's sake, hopefully Smith alienates enough voters that you get an NDP majority government.

Well, Ms. Smith has certainly done her level best to insult and alienate her base.

Video out today of Smith railing against vax mandates and strongly supporting the criminals at Coutts last year.

Hard to keep up, with every day more gems emerge.  Here she is discussing taking over control of Federally owned airports with her Campaign Chair and UCP legal advisor Rob Anderson.

Artur also had a wonderful day, he formed a brand new party with "sleepy Rob Anders" and was convicted of numerous crimes related to the Coutts border protest.

Only 27 more days till the election!

Imagine being so braindead to think airports and border crossings aren't under federal jurisdiction.

Or to sport a dumb hoodie and then go off about gun grabs and 15-minute cities.

******* braindead.

It is sickening that people like that exist in this country.

so here's the thing about the AB election. With all the insane things Smith does and says (and they're completely deranged...) she's still in the lead in the polls. I love Rachel Notley, but what does this say about her favourability with voters that she's "losing" to someone as crazy as Smith??? I wonder if she was a middle aged white dude, if she'd be trailing this race...

I don't know if in this particular instance that's what's the case here.

Knuckle dragging men and women aren't going to change their minds if NDP propped up a white male.

Sane undecided voters and sane 'I don't like to vote' need to show up to the polls. This is a full scale emergency, this is not a test. There is no room for voter apathy. We will do everything in our power to help you get out and vote.

If I was Notley I would be saying this out loud to that specific group.
