Maximum Value for our 1st & 5th picks

I heard Walters say he would listen to offers for our two first round picks. Such offers might provide useful information for later, but all I would do is listen. The future of our ball club depends on picking wisely, not on gaining what another club might be willing to cast away.

I am not sure what this years top prospects are like  but I would spend first overall on the best player available ... and our fifth on another Canadian o-lineman .... the rest of our draft picks will depend on Walters contacts/network ... its not easy to find a Loffler every year

That's kind of harsh. There's more than a few crappy sportscasters from all around the country working in front of the camera or behind the mic on radio. He's a bad football pbp announcer but that sho

The key is making wise safe selections.  I see nothing wrong with the picks we've made so far. You need to have a high volume of picks in the top three rounds and and do your due diligence. We've adde

Too bad he finished a great block off with what likely would have drawn some sort of holding penalty in a real game.

Holding?  They don't call that in the CFL

All together now:" You gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em..know when to walk away...."

I would be pretty happy if the Bombers left the draft with both Herdman and Gray.

But then there's that huge hole we have at National receiver...

I'd rather Gray and a receiver out of our first two picks.  Herdman really thinks he's gonna make the NFL.  We need players out of those picks, not guys to wait on.

Gray is an engineer too, so might not be into football for the long haul.

Herdman is a smart cookie too. He apparently has a 3.99 GPA and could go into med school. He's indicated that he wants to give pro football a try.

Do we?  If we're getting a great player I don't mind waiting for a year or two.  I don't really see the benefit of taking a lesser player who will come in and play special teams and maybe rotate in on offence/defence for a few snaps.  We already have plenty of guys like that.  I think the team is in a good enough position now that we can afford to wait on a star rather than intentionally taking a worse player just to have them in the lineup right away.

I'm not advocating that at all.  There's a handful of guys among a group of really good players who are really chasing the NFL or have legit NFL interest.  That has to factor into decision making when deciding who to pick.  As a for instance, based on what I've seen I wouldn't single Senior out of the top group of OL as being more dominant, but he has pedigree and a legit NFL shot.  In the CFL it's very likely Grey is a better player when all is said and done.

I see.  Certainly I wouldn't want to use a top pick on a guy who has been drafted or signed an FA deal.  But Grey will almost definitely get a mini-camp invite and we've seen that that can turn into an NFL deal (rarely, but possible).  I'd still use a top pick on him for sure.  I put Herdman in that same category.

Is Herdman a middle linebacker or outside?... that might be the sealer for me... if he can play MLB, might be worth the risk to find a ratio changer there...

Jordan, who we've been talking about is a MLB.

He has a twin brother Justin, who is an Outside Linebacker and is also apparently pretty good.

They are from Winnipeg and are James Reed's sons.

After the combine.  Usually comes out mid- to late-April.

I'd reckon the next project for the league is getting the damn schedule out. That's usually around this time of year...

i bet the schedule is out between feb 13-17, that week

seems that has been the date the last few years

Holy crap it's February, FA and three months to TC! Where did the time go?
