US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

I thought Tiffany was the invisible child. But Law? Wow, good for here.

Still feels a bit Legally Blonde.

You’re right about being invisible. I can’t remember reading or seeing anything about her and her father being in the same building since the RNC convention in 2016.

Well if you want to stop Democrats voting by mail you have to take action

Trump doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself, only thinks about an economy that he had very little to do with, imagine Winnipeg and the surrounding area gone, that's how many people have died from Covid 19 in a little more than a half a year

Now here's a shocker...

Alt-right wackos. Perfect for today's GOP.

Fact checking the 1st night...

The Republican National Convention started off with a parade of dishonesty, in stark contrast with last week's Democratic convention. While CNN also watched and fact-checked the Democrats, those four nights combined didn't have the number of misleading and false claims made on the first night of the Republicans' convention.

“The first night of the 2020 Republican National Convention was a fire hose of false or misleading claim, mostly drawn from President Trump’s arsenal of falsehoods. Here are 19 claims that caught our attention.”
The @washingtonpost factcheckers

Easier to just try to find something that they said that wasn't a lie. It would a really short article, that's for sure.

The first night of the GOP Convention was filled with revisionist history and alternative reality, particularly on coronavirus. It's all aimed at rallying Trump's base and calling wavering Republicans home with ominous warnings about the Democratic agenda. Our story from @NewDay Jeff Zeleny

All I kept hearing, speech after speech, was how bad, how disgusting, how terrifying America is. The America that Donald Trump is responsible for during the last four years. The one where he had the house and Senate majority during first two years......Danilo Paolucci

Interesting thread that really unpacks the 2016 election with the current state of affairs in regards to the USPS:

All I remember from Howard Dean is:

After watching Day 2 of the GOP Convention....it is time for a mea culpa.

Because of my reliance on deep state fake media, I have simply failed to realize that Donald Trump is actually a devoted husband with religious conviction, who values and respects all Americans, regardless of culture or race.  Donald Trump spends every waking hour, thinking about and tirelessly working to make America a better country, in every way.  He is best.

My credibility is shot, and my head is bowed in shame.....over my gin glass.

Donald Trump continued to shift money from his donors to his business last month, as his reelection campaign paid his private companies for rent, food, lodging and other expenses, according to a review of the latest Federal Election Commission filings. The richest president in American history, who has yet to donate to his 2020 campaign, has now moved $2.3 million of contributions from other people into his private companies.
