US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

I read a story about this,if I remember correctly the Sudafed in the draw is not from the States but rather from the UK which was sold over the counter as opposed to the States where it was more restricted.

I read that too.

But, who doesn't have a drawer full of UK Sudafed in their office? The man doesn't drink. Of course he's a pill popper. Can't get quaaludes anymore.

Washington (CNN)The White House medical unit frequently functioned as a "grab and go" clinic where mid-level staffers to the most senior officials could obtain prescription drugs without being examined by a doctor, casually pick up the powerful sleeping aid Ambien even for their children, and get drugs that were not prescribed to the person actually taking the medication.

These examples, described to CNN by five of the medical unit's former and current employees and which appear to represent the more problematic practices there, were endorsed by Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, a doctor.
Jackson withdrew his nomination to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs Thursday morning in response to an avalanche of allegations of questionable behavior. But the 50-year-old US Navy rear admiral remains President Donald Trump's physician.

Isn't Sudafed the drug some NHL players were taking to give them a kick before games?

Here's a great story about Alan Dershowitz, a big-deal attorney in the USA who was an Epstein associate and who was accused of being a pedo as well, by one of Epstein's accusers.

https://www.cjr.org/the_profile/alan-dershowitz.php

Check out this filing from a lawsuit that Epstein's PR firm filed against Epstein. (found it in the linked article)

It has an itemized invoice that shows the kinds of things that firm was up to to scrub Epstein's name after he got his kiddie rape rap on the wrist from Florida.

You want to see how a media offensive is run, check that doc out. Fascinating and horrible how hard people are working to enable jerks and pedos.

Speaking of the classy Dershowitz

I bet the GOP is wishing they hadnt impeached Clinton if they’re looking for a standard of impeachable conduct...

"Concerned" Republican Case Study - Lindsay Graham:

So, Lindsey Graham is alarmed and dismayed by Trump's cozying up to yet another dictator, and blindsiding the Kurds.  Oh my.

Well, during the 2016 campaign, Graham had called Trump a “nutjob” and a loser,” as well as a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot.” He predicted that if the GOP nominated him, “we will get destroyed … and we will deserve it.”
However, after the election Graham, who was John McCain’s best friend in the Senate, underwent a miraculous transformation....morphing into Trump’s shinebox, lathering the Orange Ayatollah with praise and providing rationalizations for his idiotic actions, even as Trump has became increasingly belligerent and erratic, even by his own (low) standards.

Despite Graham’s compulsive turd-polishing of the past couple of years, Trump didn’t even consult him before making the decision to abandon the Kurds. Graham, who had given up so much self-respect to prevent just this outcome, was not even in the room. He didn’t even get a text.

What Graham seems incapable of grasping (along with other "senior Republicans on the Hill) ......is that Donald Trump doesn't care about them, the GOP, the American people, or for that matter, anything.....except compulsively feeding his ego and his wallet.

Yet they still aid and abet Trump, out of wanting to remain in the Presidential power orbit, or simply fear of the MAGA voting block.   So they endlessly circle the wagons, exhibiting new levels of gutlessness and hypocrisy.

Funny thing, when you look at the bold sentence above - Graham had it right, the first time.  The thing about Faustian bargains, is that the price is high and the rewards turn out to be illusory. They end badly.    The reputation of many Republicans will be permanently soiled.  And so they should.

Trumps wild teeeting continues. His defence seems to be that he can commit crimes because other people have too. Weird defence.

Anyway, perhaps Mitt is the hero we never knew we needed.

Until  the Democratic lead committee's subpoena's get more bite than this clown show will continue,

So the defense here is “Congress shouldn’t get the materials because it would incriminate the president”.

Not to anybody that matter to them. The Kochs, the Mercers, all the other money men, and their fact deprived voters.

and as long as you profess to be anti abortion, a racist, and a homophobe, anything else, literally any kind of scummy behavior,  is acceptable to their voters. even being kicked in the teeth by their own representative.

as for the Kochs, these days are Nirvana for them.

(incidentally, I think they have a lot invested in Alberta)

much of Canada is foreign owned. Husky is owned by La K Ching (sp) Hong Kong tycoon.

There was a time, years ago, when that was a concern to Canadians.

More than 10 times the emissions of the smelter in Thompson.  Boggles the mind.

keep in mind that the DOJ blocked any effort by Mueller to indict trump by saying you cannot indict a sitting president in part because the constitutional remedy to a criminal president is impeachment. Now they’re suggesting impeachment isn’t allowed either.

Trump is walking right into a trap.   If the crime doesn’t get him, the cover up (and obstruction) will.   Mr tough guys is so clearly terrified of this and it’s reflecting a clear consciousness of guilt.

Please revise your statement, it is now "the Koch", you can refer to him as "the Koch prick" if you like.
