US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

Notice how @The Unknown Poster always says "conversation over" when he is clearly in the wrong.  He will always debate to the last word when he believes he is correct so it's such an obvious tell that he is in the wrong when he starts to make spurious claims like I'm trying to get the thread shut down.

Im trying to keep the thread on topic.  Please do the same.  This is tiresome and happens too often.  A mod will come along and delete a whole bunch of posts (which I disagree with BTW) and then the whole "discussion" was a waste of time.

Because he just called me out.  I'm not allowed to defend myself?

Then stop?  Who is forcing you to continue?

Defend yourself absolutely- but direct the post to him not about him in general terms to the internets.

If it's not relevant to the actual discussion, posts should be PM'ed.  Not a difficult concept.  If you require further information, we can discuss via direct messaging.  Thank you.

Oh are you a moderator now?  No?  Then I'll continue to post as I please.  Thanks.

I'm starting to think a few of those bone spurs moved their way up into his brain and caused irreversible damage.

I don't understand what he's trying to say.

Which is good. When Trump starts to make sense to me.... I'll be concerned. About my faculties.

I remember when Karl Rove was lying to Congress....

They started using the phrase "mispoke" lol. oh and "misremembered" LOL! who makes up these words.

they let him come back and fix it up. 😂

I think it was about Plame.

Almost starting to feel sorry for Trump junior. What a horrid life he has.

Well Trump clearly doesnt know the difference between an illegal spy committing espionage and a government informant providing information to law enforcement of illegal activity.  Too bad Trump doesnt know anyone who can explain these things to him....like, I dont know, any number of Law Enforcement directors, AG, or his revolving door of lawyers.

Jfc....

When you wrote the post, it was to shame him publicly (that is what it looks like) " look, look he's wrong see what happens when he is wrong check out his tell!" Then you link his name to it to let him know you are publicly shaming him.

I am sure that you know the difference in your tone and audience when you posted that- it comes across as petty.

Anyways-if you want to continue this, hit me up in PM.

If you wanted it in PM then why didn't you PM me?  Oh it was to publicly get your shot in... got it.  Okay for you to do it, but wrong when I do it.

???

Damn man... you are connecting dots that aren't even there...  if you need the last word in the public forum, just **** post this in a quote and then we can move this over to to PM if you would like.

I do look forward to your on-topic posts though- otherwise this would in fact be an echo chamber.

So strange all these people who want to "take it to the PMs" but I look in my inbox and it's empty???  Almost like it's all for show or something.  Ah well.

My PM function works as I was having a great conversation with one of you here lol

Anyway,

Trump sends officials out to provide background info to the press. And then denies the statements were said and attacks the press as fake news. The president is lying.

Trump has no "negotiating strategy" examples.... good app too "threadreader"

"Trump foreign policy is characterized by intellectual laziness from an egomaniac who refuses to take advice"

What is happening isn't just happening to those who are trying to cross illegally. It is happening to families who have presented themselves to officials at border points and are requesting asylum who are having their children taken from them.

Add on to that the fact that an official from US Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families testified that they "were unable to determine what happened to 1,475 children who were placed in sponsors' homes between October to December 2017".
