September 25, 20169 yr 2:30 this morning, an as-yet-unnamed Stampeders player was at a club called Marquee (used to be The Back Alley, which was "affectionately" known as Crack Alley...for good reason...) and was shot and killed outside. No further details at this time...
September 25, 20169 yr Another senseless, tragic death ending a young life leaving family and friends stunned.
September 25, 20169 yr Yeah, this sad story is starting to unfold here in Calgary. Unbelievable turn of events.
September 25, 20169 yr I can assure you I haven't lived in that area in years... seriously though very sad news.
September 25, 20169 yr Author We went in that club one time, I think....eh? The Canada Day event one time? It wasn't as bad as I'd been led to believe, but that whole area is pretty sketch...

Over twenty years ago my co worker & his buddy went to this same bar at that time called The Back Alley & got the **** kicked out of them by the bouncers. Put them both in hospital. I don't know what they did or said as I wasn't there but no one deserves a beating like that. They literally kicked his face in. OMG what a mess. He's lucky he didn't suffer brain damage. They were charged & convicted of assault. He sued the bar owners & won. We used to go there on Fridays after work for a few drinks. I never set foot in that POS bar ever again. September 25, 20169 yr Stamps have released the players name. Mylan Hicks. He must have been on the practice roster as I'm unfamiliar with his name.
September 25, 20169 yr Wow, things like this happening here in Canada, how sad for the young man, his family and his team.
September 25, 20169 yr John Hufnagel at today's news conference. Obviously upset, struggling to keep his emotions in check yet graciously answering every question. Great the team is helping Mylan Hick's mother with a passport covering the cost & expediting matters to get her up here to Calgary... http://www.stampeders.com/2016/09/25/john-hufnagel-comments/
September 26, 20169 yr That was a wonderful, compassionate gesture by Hufnagel and the Stamps organization. Kudos to them.

September 26, 20169 yr Reports that they have three suspects in custody. http://globalnews.ca/news/2962027/one-man-dead-after-calgary-nightclub-shooting/?sf36912310=1 Quote “There were three adult males arrested shortly after the incident, in the area where it occurred,” Coleman told reporters. “One of those males is known to police.”

And that is a testament to the supremely difficult job they have. They round them up, and the courts send them home. My prayers go out to the Hicks family.
