Fair. Limited roster space is what it is. I still think that over the last two seasons (From last years TC to this one), there should have been more DE and LB prospects...

100% It's something we did not do last season. And we certainly don't have a ton of bodies along the DL on the roster right now.

Can't wait for this game. On paper, Hammy looks good. I don't think Bo can be what he was over the course of a full season, but the East is so bad, they will finish first if he can just be average most of the time. Anyone know who their RB is? I personally really hate resting starters as much as we do, makes me a little worried about rust to start the season, especially against another veteran team. Really looking forward to seeing some practice reports from today. Hopefully DT can give us some live updates.

One thing I'll point out (and I stole this from Doug Brown). In the years we won the Grey Cups, our pass rush was winning at rates over 30%. Last year it had gone back down into the 20% range. So the things that some of us have been asking for, a rotational DE piece, more depth at LB so Bighill isn't out playing safety trying to cover things, could fix issues that were detrimental to our success and won't improve with time.

They let a few guys walk in FA too without signing anyone of note. I think they're all just a little too sure of themselves this year...

I don't know. I feel like we could make better use of the practice roster than 3 guys in their 30s. I knew MOS would find a way to keep him around, but not loving the roster management part of some of these decisions.

There's still a couple of moves to be made for the roster to be complete. It'll be interesting to see who's practicing on Monday.

We only have 4 DEs on the roster. The Jeff's are going to be playing way too many snaps again.

Now, one kid that made the roster is Haba, who was only signed on May 30th. They must like him a lot.

No one wants more preseason games. Rookie camp started a month ago. They've seen lots of the kids.

That's the point he's making about this being a recruiting fail.

I'm not predicting the wheels to fall off, for the record. I think we have far and away the best roster in the league. But as guys get older, you want to be able to find guys to come in behind them. Neither Jefferson or Jeffcoat should be playing as many snaps as they did last year, and there's no one coming up behind them. We don't have any linebackers as far as I can see. I'm very happy with our depth in the secondary and our offence is pretty set, but there's some clear planning for the future that needs to happen on D that seems to be being ignored.

The complete absence of LBs and DEs who can start or even take rotational roles - despite a clear need last year which has only grown - is really disappointing.

Not at all. But when you look back at teams who've gone through success and eventual drop off, there's going to be signs that seem obvious in hindsight. One of those things will probably be keeping guys too long and being unable to recruit new talent. We've been a feeder team of prospects who excel with us and move onto the NFL or other teams, but this year, there's aren't any candidates to really do that...

No way. McCrae was kept because he doubles in that pass catching/receiver role when we need him, but Salima looked like a classic RB. Needed to change the ratio to fit him and he wasn't THAT impressive.

I mean, he did have a 300 yard, 3 TD game in his first and only start. Threw a 65 yard TD the week before. Some selective memories happening with new hotness in town. Right. He doesn't have the mobility that Piggy has.

I'm pretty sure MOS just wants to make sure he tells each guy first. Some guys are cool with just leaving a voice mail or letting guys find out on social media with everyone else.
