  1. Speaking personally, I'm more curious if there would be a trickle down effect from ownership. For example, the usual pressure for the Canadiens to have a francophone coach. Nothing negative or anti-french, but there is definitely strong nationalism from that part of the world.
  2. Yeah, I appreciate the fact that I look at these leagues cynically with great bias. But even with taking a step back and trying to look at things critically...how do they maintain this for the length of time it would take to build a following?
  3. Beathard is your standard journeyman clipboard holder. His name is certainly not written in stone. He's insurance to keep around in case Rourke stinks it up. Rourke was always going to have to earn his spot on the depth chart - this is just the guy he has to beat.
  4. Evans isn't a clear #1 on any team.
  5. Evans was reportedly a part of negotiations and BC was his preferred destination. So he either a) Felt that competing with VAJ offered him a more clear path to success than competing with Kelly; or b) had decided that he wants to slide into a back-up role. I personally don't understand why everyone thinks Evans would be the #1 in Toronto. He played his way out of a starter role last year.
  6. It's wild that there are people in the league office who get pay checks for the absolute joke of a job they do.
  7. I am on the normal side of this conversation that thinks we bring Leggs back and probably see continued improvement. But you can't say that kick goes in anymore than someone can say it wouldn't have gone in.
  8. It is 100% requested by the franchise.
  9. I think he got hacked. There's some weird stuff coming off his feed. Unless he is a crypto/NFT guy...
  10. That's another thing. We have to bring in bodies at receiver and DB, but we're only looking for depth - there aren't any starter spots available unless we're blown away by someone. There's plenty of room in TC for a couple of kickers.
  11. You think having 14 guys instead of 12 is going to be the difference? There are only so many reps to go around.
  12. Walters has already committed to bringing in extra kickers. ML has to earn his spot, but I'm content if he's the one that wins out. One play never decides a game. And there aren't other kickers in the league that did a significantly better job.
  13. I truly don't understand why some people think this.
  14. That's exactly what they're going to do.
  15. Lower level players don't decide anything though. So, I'll got back to cursing the league for it's lack of transparency.
  16. I'm going to throw on the Blue tinted glasses and say I'm happy to have Jefferson and Jeffcoat as bookends. As a team, blame whoever you want, we continually made less than optimal roster management decisions last year along the DL. Never had anyone of the roster to rotate at DE and give the Jeff's a breather. They prioritized special teams bodies at the expense of the defense.
  17. Probably a 40k difference in their salaries though.
  18. Honestly, with our starting three, and our commitment to Brady and the run game. I'm not sure there's any point (or cap space) in paying anything but league minimum to the rest of the receiving core.
  19. I would much rather have Bailey then Darvin (at this point in their careers). But I think everyone still needs to wrap their heads around the fact that positions need to be filled in training camp by guys on rookie contracts. We have retained our core, made a splash signing. Now it's the scouts' turn.
  20. I think this is one of the things Mike is talking about. Bighill is the highest paid American LB in the league and is not what he once was. Jefferson isn't the highest paid anymore, but he sure was when we first signed him and is still right up there in terms of salaries. Why this false narrative around certain guys signing here for "way less"? It's not always the case - this is still their job and they have to maximize their salary potential no matter where they play.
  21. He was apparently getting interest from Calgary, but it's apparent he's not getting the offers/opportunity that he might have expected (which surprises me, tbh). Unless his agent is actually talking with other leagues and that's what's holding up the process.
  22. Guys that teams would normally be able to get at a value because there were no other options.
