  1. It's not really his job. O'Shea is the man in charge.
  2. You have to take solutions where you can find them. There aren't all star QBs who just got axed we can throw money at. There is a MLB who offers an upgrade.
  3. I like that.EDIT: that was apparently a typo. Derrell Johnson was scratched, not Bruce.
  4. Doesn't work like that in the CFL - even if he had an 'option' year left - he burned it when he was in Indy. This is why I keep berating the CFL draft here. Normally, in a draft, you draft the BPA or at worst the BPA for a position you have very little depth in. The CFL is the only pro NA draft I know of that you don't do that as if the player is 'too good' you won't get him. If it wasn't for university rules - I'd like to see the draft completely abolished and just go to two territorial picks and the rest are UFA's that can be 'purchased' - maybe a similar system to the Soccer system- knowing you couldn't do that though until the players uni career was over. What the hell are you talking about? Muamba played his entire three year contract here and left as a FA. In what league do you keep a guys right after his contract expires?
  5. Or his agent smells blood in the water and uses our increasing desperation to drive his price up.
  6. Hard to believe he won't be PR'd. They only have Palmer and Stanton on the roster now and both missed serious time last season.
  7. Capgeek is no where close to being correct.
  8. Muamba and Wild are both beasts and if it has to be 2 out of 3, please let it be them. Oh, c'mon, we're not signing 2 of 3. That's ridiculous.
  9. This surprises me. I thought he'd hold out for another NFL team for longer than that. Unless this is just the agent covering all his bases.
  10. Gale's been in the CFL for 3 seasons and has 21 pass attempts. He was the short yardage QB in 2014 but otherwise has not had regular reps at QB. Marve alone has more on-field experience than Gale. In his three years, Gale has to have been in film sessions, watched games, and even run scout teams, so I stand by my statement about CFL experience. #3 gets zero reps in practice. Unless we have another injury, I'm good with the QBs we have in terms of retreads. I absolutely want out scouting staff out there looking for next year's third string/development guy, but I'm hopeful Nichols can get us through the rest of this season without needing to see the trio of cuts ever again. If Nichols can elevate himself to being an "adequate" replacement for Willy, I can see him remaining on the Bombers roster for a number of year. Much like Drew Tate in Cgy. not a #1 QB but a decent replacement in emergencies. Tate is a good comparison. A guy who seems to have gotten injured during every attempt at being a starter, but has settled into an effective role as a back up.
  11. "the longest shadow boxing demonstration I've ever seen" lol
  12. I very much disagree with that. The coaching staff has shown in the past few games that they'll pull Brohm and/or Marve after a certain point of ineptitude. Whether we see Davis or Nichols go in is up for debate at that point.
  13. Win, lose or draw I don't think any changes are going to be made coaching wise from this point in. The beginning of the bye-week was the best timing to axe MB, Willy out long-term, Nichols starting fresh and the other three QB's not making any progressions within the existing system. I agree. Walters seems to place more blame on himself than on the coaching staff.
  14. You mean there was a first time? Trying not to let my dislike of the guy affect my opinion of his reporting - he seems like a decent enough journalist at times (I really enjoyed his interview with Kyle Walters recently), he just doesn't seem to have a good grasp of what's happening in front of him during practice.

  16. He didn't seem to be a full participant in practice this week. Maybe they had already decided to sit him, but I had assumed he was injured.
  17. I'm sure he was the source. Taman and Lawless seem to be pretty good buddies and Taman is probably the source for a lot of Lawless' CFL tips. I don't think it was meant as an underhanded thing. Taman easily could have thrown CC under the bus in an effort to save his job, he just waited too long. Although, I'm pretty sure the Rider board always intended to get O'Day in the chair.
  18. Arent we just making room for Nichols and Walker?
  19. He was awful today in practice. Early on it looked like Davis and Brohm were splitting reps but it shifted in Brohms favour very quickly.
  20. God. What a useless tweet. Friesen had his back turned away from the field of play to talk to Ed and Bob (although I will say they were all there the entire practice today - must have been to see Nichols). That one-hopper was literally the only miss Brohm had during the first half of practice and could easily have been the receiver not coming back at the appropriate depth.
  21. 3-4

I think some of us are saying there's always room for improvement controlling for the offense's inadequacies. Absolutely. I really liked the Richie Hall signing and, even though we got off to a slow start and have been handicapped by our offence, I trust what he's doing to keep us ahead of the game. With Turner coming out, Collins might make a decent nose tackle.
  22. Well, I definitely think I'm going to hit up practice tomorrow. Could be interesting, to say the least.
  23. Absolutely you do, not disagreeing with that at all. And I am nitpicking at this point, I get that. I guess I'm just disappointed that the guy we've been developing was so bad, he got beat that quickly. Or that he wasn't replaced sooner, given the amount of injuries we've had.
  24. Walters said in the free today that Davis will be getting more practice reps over the next few weeks. But I imagine that Marve and Brohm will get at least two more games of ineptitude between them before he is considered.
  25. I'm guessing it's as simple as Sam Longo being better. Is it bad to try to keep improving the roster after TC? It's bad that they seemingly can't find a player good enough to stay on the roster. Agreed. I can only assume no other team in the CFL has dropped a player from their practice roster this season. I see what you're saying. When the fan base starts nit-picking about PR moves, we're just looking for thinks to complain about #winnipeg #yadayadayada But, this isn't a WR or a DB that you keep a half dozen of snatched on the PR and 1-game injured list. It's an import tackle that we desperately need. We signed him in the spring and he was supposedly developing during the past few months. it's a bit of a disappointment than the only other Imp tackle was just signed and we have to start the process all over, oping that this guy is better.
