Buff is not really an elite d man tho, to be an elite d man, you need to be able to play D. He's a good player but lately, he's caused more harm than good. When Buff isn't doing good things, he's either not doing anything or is caught out of position. The last several games now, several, 10 15 20 games with Buff on D, since the All Star Break Really, he has not been good at all. Things that make you go hmmm Without Buff in the lineup, The Jets win more than they lose, it's a significant amount too. Without Toby in the lineup, the Jets win more than they lose, it's a significant amount too. Tells me those 2 are replaceable. When Buff is on, he's on but when he's off and lately he's been off more than he has been on, He's a liability out there. I wouldn't give him a big money long term deal, not a chance... He's just not worth the 6 7 8 million a year he will get elsewhere. Especially to a team like the Jets, who in reality, they are building this team through the youth. Buff is our 3rd best Right Handed D man, He's not worth what it would cost to keep him when one day and soon you will have to extend trouba,lowry,scheif and the sorts. Gotta remember what the D in D man stands for... Buff does not bring that.

I'd strongly consider moving toby too but he's our best and really only legit left handed d man. I'd move Buff first and see if we could get a left handed d man in return.. if so, then i'd look at moving toby. But... That left side looks way weaker without toby and nobody to replace him.

Ehlers will be a JET next season, either on scheifs line or lowrys... Others who could make it as forward include petan too, think he was close this past year too... If you add those 2, that's a ton of skill coming in to the lineup right there.. Its hard to say what happens with our ufas like staff,frolik,stemp,slater and what happens in free agency (doubt we are that active this off-season, doesn't seem to be many guys out there this year to be honest) (i'll take the smart cheap signing like perreault again tho over the long term 6 7 million dollar a year stastny types) Heres how i see it, Centers - Little,Scheif,Lowry,Copp RW - Wheeler,Perreault, Stafford,Thorburn LW- Ladd,Ehlers,Petan,Stempniak That could change and probably will depending on what happens with our own free agents but... with maurice saying we very well could get younger next season, i could see that being possible. Really mix and match all you want. There are also trade possibilities, guys like Toby,Buff,Ladd even (doubtful ladd is moved tho), Burmi (think he's as good as traded), Pav even. so who knows what these guys could bring back... Organizational depth is weak on the LHD side and on the LW side really... Petan could go to the A even.

Ladd has skipped lots of morning skates and practices the last month or so, he's hurting i think. Yeah he played well last night and it doesn't excuse his previous 2 games but if he's hurt, not even if he's hurt, he is. He still has shown more than Buff has.

Ladd will sign an extension and Chevy should do everything he can to make sure he does. He's a good vet leader out there, played his heart out last night, Buff tho? I think they will end up moving him, you don't want to give buff a big money contract for a long time and have him go MIA for periods of time. The other plus ladd has going for him, he plays a position of weakness for the Jets really.. He's our best LW, Ehlers might be in the future but he isn't yet.. Buff on the other hand, Myers,Trouba and you got other RHD in the system like Kostalek who i think will be very very good, guy is tearing up the Q right now in the playoffs himself. Myers and Trouba are 1A AND 1B d pairings there... Buff at lots of money to play on the third pair just doesn't make sense really when you have some holes at other positions.. LHD being one. If I'm moving Buff and i think i would, I'd hope for a first and a good prospect or a 1st and a LHD man. LHD is an area of weakness on the team and in the system for that matter.

You keep referring to Chiarot as a rookie but he's not, he's actually been in the AHL for several years and he actually had a cup of coffee with the big club last year. Is he good? I guess he's ok, He's not a top 4 d man tho and if he is, your team is in trouble. He might be a good 6th d man but more than likely on a good team he's the extra d man, that's not hating on Chiarot, it's just the reality. There are 100's of chiarots out there, didn't people talk about postma like this before too? Redmond? Clitsome? Theres hundreds of chiarots out there, it's not a shot at him tho cuz he has played well since being called up, it's just that he's not really as great as you like to think he is, You think he's scratched cuz he's a rookie? That's crazy, he's scratched cuz the other guys playing are better, you don't scratch him just cuz he's a rookie, you scratch him because that first game, he didn't play well at all. Regardless tho, it's irrelevant cuz he's at best a number 6 d man. He's not the reason we are losing or winning. Anyways, Enough about bottom pairing d man who make little difference in the series. I'm gonna talk about the guys who should be making a difference but aren't.. Little? strong game last night but not so good the previous games, however, this is his first playoffs, so you can sort of give him some slack, Wheeler? Has played well but... kind of invisible, shows strong leadership tho, Ladd? not so good the first 2 but was very good last night, lead the team in hits and was a forechecking machine last night.. Buff? Hasn't been good at all actually, defensive liability out there The way i look at buff and moving forward, do i give this guy who when we need him to step up the most, he doesn't, do i give him a 5 6 7 year deal for big big money? Or do i try to move him for some younger assets, Yandle got a 1st and a solid prospect, buff should get the same, yeah yandle had a year remaining but really, for 1 year and 10 or so regular season games the yotes got a 1st and an A++ prospect in duclair. Buff should be able to get you something similar, So yup.. I actually agree that buff should be moved, hopefully at the draft. Frolik? again invisible really. 2 guys let's say... buff and frolik who you expect to step up, haven't. That's a problem considering guys like Lowry,Trouba, Scheif even (tough assigments for his line but regardless), those 3 have shown more than buff and frolik combined.

Stemp in an ideal scenario is a 4th liner. You see when copp played they had stemp play with him. Perhaps that's 2/3rd of our 4th line next year. Chiarot is just another average d man who ppl get hyped about cuz he played well with buff for a few games. Clitsome got the same hype too. And no its not cuz he's a rookie that he isn't playing. It's cuz the guys playing are better. Simple as that really.

Myers Trouba on the d side. Scheif Lowry up front right now. Probably add ehlers and Morrissey next season too.

Myers and Morrissey are as untouchable as trouba cuz they are all young and will be part of the new core. Buff or Toby could be moved tho I'm sure. Doubt to the oilers but maybe. They would bring vet experience

Jets and ducks are pretty even in the series when you look at numbers and fancy stats like possession time and things like that. Jets have lead for 65 minutes plus. Ducks have lead for 12 minutes. Jets ARE a good team but can't hold a lead. Truly easily could be 3-0 jets this series. 3 games where they had the lead going in to the third and lost. That's tough and probably shows the lack of play off experience on the jets.

Buff was off in the corner on that Pardy one. Buff had a rough Game in the d zone actually. Believe he was on the ice for 3 goals against and 2 definitely were a result of his bad play. Fun fact tho in regards to others opinions. I welcome them and actually I'm not the one getting all pissy when someone disagrees.
