  1. So now you're saying cfl experience and winning don't matter?... Just having more coaching/management than our guys at any level would make that candidate more qualified? And you're changing my argumemt.... I never once said that hiring rookie Canadians as GM and HC was the way to win... as a matter of fact, I've stated multiple times that I agree hiring experienced winners in those roles is the ideal scenario... all I'm saying now is that experienced winners are not as readily available as you claim they are... so in this case the burden of proof is not on me to prove you wrong... all I want to know is are are any experienced winners with cfl knowledge currently available??
  2. Not sure if this is in another thread.... but it sounds like Noel Thorpe is officially in as DC in Ottawa...
  3. haha, what a crazy story... got a kick out of the animation too...
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong... but didn't Devon Claybrooks interview for the DC position here before taking the promotion in Calgary? I seems recall there was an on-going joke about him being in town because 3 or 4 people mentioned it in the same thread...
  5. OK, let's play a game... imagine the Bombers decide to fire Walters and O'Shea today... and they decide to look in US to fill the vacancies... Can you name at least 2 candidates at GM and 2 at HC that meet your qualifications? Here's a quick rundown of the qualifications you have laid out: - has many years of head coaching / general managing (experience) - winning history (a championship or two in their respective positions) - extensive CFL knowledge (at the very least some CFL experience ) - currently unemployed or looking for new employment if you can name 2 HC candidates and 2 GM candidates that meet this criteria... then I will concede that you are correct... I'm actually not trying to arguing anymore,...I'm legitimately curious if these people exist right now... you seem convinced there are many, so I'd like to know who they are...
  6. well this is sure to elicit a response from some people... I'll just sit back a watch... can someone please post the Bill Hader eating popcorn gif?
  7. Interesting... I like him, won a cup in Edm... obviously rubs some people the wrong way... I suspect Wally will stick around in some capacity... wonder if Hervey will report to Wally..
  8. I think yo're missing the point... actually you're probably just ignoring the point... everything you're saying, literally everyone should agree with... the point is, where exactly are all these unemployed experienced, proven winners??
  9. I'm excited to hear this year's list... I wonder which experienced, proven winning HCs and GMs are currently available that I've never heard of...
  10. What I get out of this quote is Flanders realizes as an American RB, he knows he is disposable... he knows what his role will be here and that we won't be looking for a replacement any time soon... another team that is committed to American RB might have a couple PR guys ready to take his place at the first slip up...
  11. That's almost an understatement considering they gave up the two biggest plays in Grey Cup history... Just curious... how many rider trolls are all over the stamps board right now?
  12. I'm not positive if this exists on the CFL (I know it's a thing in the NFL)... but if a coordinator gets fired with a year left on his contract at, let's say, $100,000... the firing team is on the hook for that money... if he signs with a new team at the same salary then the firing team is off the hook... but if he signs for say $80,000, the original team would still owe him $20,000 of salary...
  13. Yes I heard that too and thought, wow are you kidding me?... funny thing we forget is Calgary almost choked away the 2014 GC also... if not for the (appropriately called) illegal block penalty at the end of the game, Hamilton wins that one...
  14. No... I believe he re-sign with Tor earlier in the year...
  15. Sure... but don't you think that might be a factor in a FA deciding whether he'd rather play for Mike O'Shea or get screamed at by Jason Maas (for example)...
  16. You're kind of completely ignoring the fact that this is outlawed by the CBA now...
  17. 2001 was so much more heart breaking in hindsight... At the time I remember thinking. we'll be back soon, even next year... this team is too good not to win it all... *crying emoji*
  18. I don't necessarily agree with this... different coaches have different strategies... I think it is unwise to use the media to call out players, and clearly Mike O'Shea operates that way also... and I'm happy he's that way... but some players respond to public criticism and some coahces have successfully manipulated them this way... Something to consider (this is not directed at you)... Bill Belichick is (arguably) the best coach in pro football history... how often does he publicly call out players?.... and for those wondering, he has, reportedly, ripped Brady on many occasions during team meetings and film sessions... he'll never go to the media and say Tom Brady fcked this up... but you can guarantee Tom will hear about it behind closed doors...
  19. just want to comment on these two for now... Calgary - what do you do?? You've clearly built one of the best teams in the league but can't close on the big stage... look for another QB??... I guess they would need to do some tinkering... but realistically they should be back-to-back champs right now.... Sask - Are you just speculating Carter is leaving or does he have legitimate NFL interest?... IMO he has NFL talent and barely a peewee brain...
  20. Congrats to the Argos... happy for Ricky Ray, he;s one of my all-time favourite CFL QBs... very happy that Lirim got the game winning FG... I always liked him too... But the Stamps... what a bunch of chokers.... Kamar Jordan might be the biggest anomaly on that team... had around 100 yards and a TD, then a game changing fumble in the red zone... on the final drive he drops one right in his hands, then on the very next play he catches an over-the-shoulder, diving catch.... great player, but tough to rely on that kind of inconsistency... The last play of the game... they didn't necessarily need to go safe and hand-off... but there's no reason to go endzone there... there was 20 seconds and they had a time out... check down if nothing is open, give it one more try and if it fails kick the FG and go to OT...
  21. Hey I finally won something! Just want to say a quick thanks to Morning Big Blue... pretty cool that we can have these contests... no entry fee and winner walks away with a little something. Thanks guys!
  22. I find this hard to believe.. I have it on good authority that there is a conspiracy against the riders and every call always goes against them...
  23. Thank Flutie!... that made me laugh Do you think the Argos would be better served playing in a suburb rather than downtown Toronto?
  24. I was hoping for the unprecedented double win this year... pick em and lock of the week... I still have a shot at pick em... Thanks for nothing!
  25. I'm pretty sure Toronto does have fans... they just don't go to the stadium... Mitch Marner and Austin Matthews were there... so naturally TSN's lead story is about how Marner is an Argo's fan and Babcock is from Sask... far more important than the game itself...
