Now it's not all on him, but to me it seems like Jarvis Jones did a hell of a lot of good things for the line today... how the hell has he been off the roster the entire time? I thought J. Jones played well too, let's hope Wylie finally sees that he can flat out play football..

On the CJOB post game show Doug Brown was pretty adamant in blaming the BBs inability to stop the run on the final drive on Etch's defensive set up and not on the players. He said everybody in the park knew Sask. was going to run the ball and yet the BB's were lining up in an unbalanced D-line formation which made it almost impossible for them to cover off the gaps. The RB sees the holes even before the ball is snapped. In these situation he suggested they have to return to fundamental formations in order to have a chance of stopping the run. A good example he mentioned was the goal line stand were Allen scored. Wild was left on his own while the entire D-line was loaded up on the other side of the line. I think Etch has done a great job building a D from scratch but I still think he needs to be reigned in at times. When the games get down to crunch time football fundamentals should over-ride trickery .

Sadly it's still not as bad as the winless streak in Calgary which stretches all the way back to 2002. The culture of losing has to change. These streaks are ridiculous & embarrassing. Coaches & players have to have a some pride to say Enough is enough. Not good enough to go to Mosaic & McMahon Stadiums, lose by 3 & be satisfied with a close loss... Or especially a 52-0 shellacking like 2 yrs ago this weekend anymore. It's time to start winning. Nothing less. According to O'Shea's philosophy the Bombers are on a one game winning streak, not a 10 year losing streak. There should be no carry over if his players "buy in".

Messam is playing today. I was at Riders practice yesterday and I expect him to have a big role today. Bit of a strange move inserting Messam over Allen. I hope it backfires on them. To clarify a bit. McHenry is out for the season so Messam is dressing as a full back. Both Allen and Ford are expected to see touches at the Tailback position. All three are dressing. Ok got yea. Messam not that great of a blocker, need to expose that. Did you guys watch the last game against the Riders? The last thing Messam has to worry about is pass blocking. With the 3 headed monster Sask. has for a running game and Durant with a possibly damaged paw, I'm pretty sure the RR are going to try to run the ball down Etch's throat and pound it out his *** hole.

Not really. We gave up about 2 yards a carry without Kuale last week, even with Montreal trying to establish the run to help their QB's early. They ran at will vs Ottawa last night. Pretty clear who/what is getting picked on by opposing teams. Of course that be attributed to other corrections as well, but I'm not going to do a blocking job for Kuale because frankly, I'm not a fan. I'm still saying it's selective stats because they're after the fact, before corrections were made, and don't allow for proper game planning. But I do agree teams will target areas, as well as players. True, but the biggest difference is not having one MLB completely out of the play most of the time, usually because he's over pursuing. I appreciate Kuale's effort, his intelligence not as much. I'd love him as a rush end. Tackles are a horrible stat to judge LB's, but Kuale has 19 in 8 games. That's a joke. Like if an OL came up to the bench press at the combine and did 2 reps. That number of tackles takes Ian Wild 2 games to accumulate. Wild had 18 tackles in the last game alone. I'm not sure how many Kromah had, but he was way more noticeable than Kuale ever was and if we get run over by Messam and whomever the Roughies use on Sunday, I am going to be really ticked and will start to question the collective wisdom of the coaches. Just keep repeating. Bombers must have a plan, must have a plan, must have a plan.....

Ottawa did a nice job, they used their FB a fair bit. I expect to see Pontbriand a lot, maybe he even slides out for a catch or two. Can't do it every down of course. Early screens, play-action and some outside runs should help... not that we've seen a ton of that from MB but he did have some flashes last game of straying from his conservative tendencies. This sounds like a good idea. Use Pontbriand in the backfield to "spot" Chick and help the O-line keep him out of the backfield.

Pretty sure Vega has a bad case of turf toe and they don't want it to get worse. That injury is going to effect him for the rest of the season so not pursing Hall makes even less sense.

Isn't Thigpen just another clone of what the Bombers already have?

I don't really care one way or the other about Burris but his contract is another matter. With an established QB on the roster, all the RBs had to do was spend the money they wasted on Burris and acquire FAs. How many could they have acquired? At least 2, probably 3, and they could have been receivers. (Nick Moore for example) Of course Glenn couldn't have done much better but you never know. Being an expansion team, you have to develop a team over time. They had Glenn - develop DeMarco, or at least determine if DeMarco is the way to go. One or two clutch receivers would have helped. Look to the draft and the next Free Agency. IMO, they went to far, too soon when they went all in with Burris, especially when they could easily have lost all those games with Glenn instead. Coaching, well that's another playbook in the writing, isn't it? I think the best thing Ottawa has going is probably their coaching staff, long-term I think Rick Campbell and his crew will be there long after Marcel D. is gone.

They replaced Woods so the precedent has been set. Coach's egos and player attitudes also determine a lot of the back room decisions and favourites often come into play because after-all they're human.

Too bad, that would have distracted Ottawa away from Matthews.

Hinse has yet to start and seems to be behind Goosen already so that tells us something. Jarvis Jones is a known commodity and this is a good opportunity for him to show that he belongs. Going to be a tough game on the O-line regardless so I don't thing anyone of them is going to come out of the LDC looking great. Wylie's got his hands full.

Some real puzzlers to be sure. Don't get the Unamba thing either, I just don't consider special teams players to be all that "special". Most upset with sitting Cotton as their strategy of spelling Grigsby in the Als. game seemed to work to finally light a fire under him and he ran with some intent. The RR are coming into the game with 3 RB's and the BB with one, wonder how that's going to work out. At this point I don't think we know enough about O'Shea's coaching style to judge him on his choices, could well be that he let's his co-ordinators make the decisions on personnel for their specific units and he backs their decisions. This wouldn't surprise me.

I don't really know if it's got anything to do with the constitution or if it's just the promotion and sale of weapons by a sector of the military industrial complex. As with most things it all stems from a love of $$$ over all else. Low prices and easy availability have made guns so common down there that it goes beyond any rhetoric about gun control. When 6 out of 10 adults have guns are you going to feel comfortable being one of the 4 that doesn't....I'm not so sure. Guns spawn guns and fear spawns fear. You tend to learn more about the Bomber's talent from watching the bad stuff than watching the good stuff.

Not really, it can't be denied that there is a lot of financial opportunity provided by the oil and gas industry in AB.and they give golden opportunities to real ham and eggers who would be near bottom of their class in high school. In my time in AB. I must have met hundreds of of people who migrated to Calgary and worked their way into plus $100,000 salaries with ungodly benefits but when you got talking to them you couldn't help but be unimpressed with their work history or their intellect. They're one redeeming virtue was that they were pluggers who got in on the ground floor of a company and kept showing up 5 days a week. The salary structure in that industry is so out of whack that if you're not making over $80,000 after 5 years you're name must be Stephen Harper. Not to say there are not bright lights in the upper echelons of these companies because that's the typical progression but for the most part everything below is chock full of pluggers.....make that well-to-do pluggers.

Your friend watches too much TV and/or movies. Police are trained to shoot at the torso. In real life, no one has the accuracy to shoot at such a small area in a situation like this - especially if either or both people are moving. No policemen are trained to shoot for the leg... The reason the police shoot is to stop the threat immediately. So they aim dead straight in the middle of the chest. Highest % of stopping the threat. When I went to shoot some guns it was quite difficult for me to get a head shot. With a moving part, different elevations and the fact that you rarelyhave time to aim its nearly impossible to hit a leg by choice I lived in Oklahoma for 5 years as a student and found the "gun culture" to be a real eye-opener, we have nothing like it in Canada. One thing I know is down there if the police tell you to put up your hands or drop a weapon they're only going to tell you once. After that you're dead, doesn't matter whether you're black, white or purple.
