  1. Problem with Grigsby is that he runs with zero power (and I'm not talking about size, cause 170 lbs backs can run with power too), is extremely inconsistent, basically a big play back who gets less effective as he touches the ball more, 4 of the last 5 games he's had 10 carries or less. He hasn't come close to 20 total touches since the game in Hamilton. If we had a guy who could handle 20 carries a game and a roster spot for an extra RB, Grigsby would fit in well there, as a guy we are relying on he's a huge handicap on our offense. It's pretty clear that the offensive coaches are feeling the same way as they are moving more and more away from Grigsby being featured in the game plan. The lack of a consistent rushing attack is clearly the difference between the Bombers offense being 7th in the league or being in the top 3 offensive teams. Good point. This might explain why the Bombers offencive production went through a mid-season slump for awhile, declining game after game. During that period It seemed like every other play revolved around Grigsby, run or pass. That was probably a reaction to Willy overusing him as an outlet, trying to preserve his health by using quick throws. As the O-line has improved Willy is getting back to spreading the ball around like he was earlier in the season and the improved numbers reflect this.
  2. Ford's best year with us was running for 594 and receiving 41 with a total of 3 TD's and 2 fumbles he lost. Grigsby so far has 623 yards running... 341 receiving with 9 total TD's and I believe 0 fumbles lost..... You may want to rethink your opinion on Ford. Ford never played a full season as RB wth the Bombers, he only became a starter once Chad Simpson was injured in 2013.
  3. Any other CFL team trying to get it done with one RB? Pretty sure the answer to that question is "no". For me it always comes back to Marcel and his play-calling and personnel decisions. I don't have faith that this is the OC that will be able to lead the Bombers to anything other than mediocrity.
  4. It probably comes down to a "stupid brother thing" they had going on. He was practicing against his brother when the injury occured.
  5. Could just be due to injuries, he wasn't dressing the last few games anyway so why not put a couple other guys on the reserve list instead, guys that might help out a bit more.. Maybe both Booker Mosely and Pall get on the 46 man this week, one will probably sit though. I think this is the most logical conclusion, juggling the numbers to get more help for the D-line on game day.
  6. This is true only if you disqualify the 6 or 7 RB's in the league that are actually better at running the ball than Grigsby. If I really think about it I might come up with 10 who are better.
  7. I guess Louie Richardson would have to step up. Not sure the entire BC O-line can be classified as garbage, I believe their main problem has been finding someone competent at L-guard were they've gone through numerous prospects this year.
  8. Edmonton Eskimo defensive back Patrick Watkins for making offensive and inappropriate comments directed towards an opponent during last Saturday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders. Winnipeg Blue Bomber offensive lineman Steve Morley for punching an opponent during Sunday’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive back Paul Woldu for making avoidable physical contact with an on-field official during their Week 10 game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, August 31. Anyone know what started the fisticuffs that Morley was involved in? I think the 3rd incident happened when Willy ran in for the TD after he hurt his ankle. Surprised that ref. was able to get up and continue after the hit he took. Sask. player hit him square in the back.
  9. Walters can't afford to stand pat, he needs to bring in at least two prospects in case there is another injury along the D-line. Luckily he's got a buy week to do it in.
  10. Time for a quick fix. Somebody has to be available. JT Gilmore Kenny Mainor Michael McAdoo JD Griggs
  11. I suppose, But i would think that they wouldn't trade burris until they are sure they have someone that can take over from them. Qb is one of the hardest positions to find (see bombers pre 2014) so trading away a proven starter and future HOF QB for a starting Cdn o-linemen is insane to me. Oline is very important but if you have Troy Smith (or clone) it won't matter who is around him. If your QB lacks accuracy or the ability to read a defence he is worthless. Burris is an inconsistent QB, but he's not the reason the Redblacks are losing. That team could scrap out some hard fought wins if it cleans up some of the rest of that garbage, like that sequence with Chevon Walker last week. They will not be able to do that without Burris. Are they willing to completely write off 2014 to get an Olineman? And if they can't find a QB, 2015? I doubt it. The message that would send to season ticket holders in Ottawa would be awful. They are already supporting their stumblebum team through incompetence because at least they are trying. Now you tell them you aren't even trying anymore? Awful. Not going to happen. /checks google, sees Eric Tillman does not work in Ottawa... Not going to happen. Agreed, they bet the farm on Burris and so far haven't reaped any reward. RB management would look like complete fools if they admitted they'd made a mistake on their franchise player and gave up on him in their first season. Like him or not Henry hasn't deteriorated that much in one off season and hate to use a cliche but he does "give them the best chance to win", game to game. I think they were overly optimistic with what they thought they could achieve in their first season but they are making baby steps and will likely end the season with a record similar to the 2013 Bombers. Next season is a crap shoot but reasonable to think being in the East they could have a record of 6-10 wins if they get a better cast to support Henry.
  12. To be fair Walters told us his plan when he was first hired as GM. Slow and steady through the draft. Some may not like it but you have to give the man credit for sticking with his plan. With the cross-over option available and the recent QB injuries to other teams at this point it's nye impossible to predict whether the Bombers make the play-offs or go on to a Grey Cup appearance. I think serendipity is going to play a large role in where Western teams end up.
  13. Bombers seem to sustain more injuries in practice than they do in games. This practicing 100% full out sucks. I'm 100% aginst it.
  14. Surprised by the lack of player movement this year but I think the trend of air-lifting in a swath of replacement players for faltering teams has proven to be an ineffective and costly strategy over time. Seldom can an incoming player unseat a player who has been with a team since TC, mainly because they're neither fluent in the CFL nor the play-book. At best any "new to the CFL" players brought in mid-season are likely candidates for TC the following year. Exceptions are possible as in Jarvis Jones and Dan Knapp's case but still rare.
  15. Pretty obvious that O'Shea realizes an airlift of prospects is not going to be brought in at this time of the season to save the day and Walters confirmed that the other day. Bombers have to run with the horses they have at this point with the occassional prospect emerging from the PR to compensate for injuries. I expect the D backfield to suvive the off season but the LB crew and D-Line might look a lot different going into next season.
  16. The good news is that If the Bills stay in Buffalo, Toronto will never get an NFL team as they are considered part of the Bills territory.
  17. Looks like the Bills will be staying in Buffalo. http://www.tsn.ca/nfl/story/?id=461318
  18. Dude I love Willy but this is crazy talk. Durant was nearly perfect in the playoffs last year -- I think he went 10:1 in TDS:picks. Sorry I should have said Willy has a better QB toolbox at his command, offencive stats. like he put up in the last game don't lie. One for one I wouldn't trade Willy for Durant because Willy's potential is still unrealized and he's only going to get better over the next 5-10 years. Durant has already peaked, he's got some physical tools but not the smarts to be anything other than a "meat and potatoes" QB.
  19. Welcome to fan bias. It's the same type of crazy behavior that makes someone suggest Tino Sunseri is equal to Drew Willy. That's not what I said. Read it again really slowly. Here's what you said recently on the the Riders forumn. "I am sure we could care less what some Joe Sixpack Bomber fan thinks." "Pretty lame to come on a Rider board and post this crap." Being green or being a hypocrite.....hard to decide which is worse.
  20. Here's what I would worry about if I was stupid enought to be a Sask. fan hanging out on a Bomber message board. In his first year as a starter Willy showed that he already has more QB skills than Durant at his prime. The next time Willy puts up 350 yds. passing vs. 137 yds. for Durant, the cow farmers won't be going home with a "W". You can take that home to your cross-eyed cousins and nail it up on the barn door.
  21. At some point enough is enough and lulay has gone well beyond that point. Time to put on a baseball hat and get into coaching, I hear Buck Pierce is looking for an assistant.
  22. Well, I hope I'm not out of turn, but lately this has been on my mind anyways, so here's some story time. A long time ago in the wilderness, often called the official Winnipeg Blue Bombers Forum, there was a handsome young devil by the name of my blood runs gold. Sort of a cross between Robert Redford and Ghandi, and crazy humble too. Being somewhat younger than he is now, as we all tend to be when we travel back in time, this fellow, who we'll call mbrg for short, was still young enough to care about what random strangers said on the internet. Crazy! Now one day into this forum wilderness wandered a very young man. For the purposes of this totally fictional tale, I'll make up a name. We'll call him Fuhlooyuhd. Fuhlooyuhd was new to this wilderness, a wilderness that mbrg had taken some amount of pride and ownership in, and like many of his very young age, he thought that brashness was how a person should navigate through this wilderness. He had two pet birds, and to help him get around he would wave them in the air. And while in some internet wildernesses that is simply the way things are done, mbrg and many others thought it was unnecessary, since we were all in this same wilderness together. So often mbrg would take issue with Fuhlooyuhd, pointing out that he didn't need to use those birds so very often like young people of his age tended to do. Sometimes these discussions got heated, as the older people who didn't use birds for navigation and communication had limited use for those that did. It was probably a generational thing. Anyways, one day a forest ranger intervened in the heated argument and took mbrg aside. He acknowledged that while things were not ideal, arguing would do nothing to decrease this generational divide. He suggested to mbrg that immaturity will almost always walk hand in hand with youth, and rather than try and lecture him to change, he rather demonstrate to young Fuhlooyuhd that there were ways of navigating our wilderness without using those birds so often, and to let mbrg's actions speak instead. Mbrg tried to follow that ranger's advice, and though it wasn't always easy, after a while it was noticeable that young Fuhlooyuhd wasn't using his birds nearly as often as he once like to do. Eventually mbrg left that wilderness, and left all wildernesses. Time passed before mbrg ever found himself in such a wilderness again, but once he did, one of the first people he came across was young Fuhlooyuhd. Except young Fuhlooyuhd wasn't that young anymore. And he had matured enough that he navigated through the wilderness without ever resorting to bringing out his birds anymore. Mbrg marveled at how time had changed Fuhlooyuhd as a person, and he wondered how many other people that ranger had spoken to. Although they still didn't always agree on which path to take, mbrg thought that Fuhlooyuhd had become quite a fine young navigator in his own right. And mbrg? Well he had grown into a cross between George Clooney and Mother Teresa. And was still crazy humble to boot. Bravo! And I thought I had time to kill, you just ate my cake!
  23. Listened to the Coach's Show and O'Shea said Wild could be back for B.C. but Neufeld is out.
  24. Nobody gives Joe Mack much credit but the one thing he had was NFL connections. The scouts they have now are CFL born and bred, not sure any of them have the connection to the "good ole boy network" that is southern football.
  25. Snow+mountains=4 wheel drive. Wouldn't do it any other way.
