I'm not sure if this has any relevance here, but a CFO of a sizeable company said that on a $100 million operating budget, and using perfectly acceptable accounting practices, a competent accountant could turn a $3 million profit into a $3 million loss or vice versa.

Dickenson did pretty well with all kinds of receiver injuries, a suspect O-line and a QB who did not have his usual stellar year. Huffer and a heckuva scouting staff have his back.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Tracker replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If there is no reciprocal agreement between the CFL and the AAFL, what would stop a player from jumping mid-season from one to the other? -
The world needs all the happy people it can get!
-
I will leave it to you to puzzle that out.

Its all well and good to have a love-in about finally winning a playoff game and having better NI talent and a credible quarterback, but the Bombers and the faithful have been waiting along time for a championship- too long actually. How much longer does the current regime have? If Chamblin manages to cobble together a winning team from the wreckage, how much pressure does that put on Walters and O'Shea?

Nope. -
Trump has been able to get away with outrageous and illegal conduct all of his life due to his being born with a silver spoon in his mouth and his father using money to smooth over things for Don. Trump grew up with the attitude that he was beyond the law and carried that into his presidency. However, in what will probably be a shock to Trump, the betting in Washington is that Don Junior will be indicted next week. Trump is showing signs of coming unglued already and has been snarling at his whole staff this week. Next week ought to look like a political China Syndrome.

Attorneys and bail surety are both expensive.
-
And you do not find yourself being rated as being somewhere between the 5th or 7th best quarterback in the league by accident, either.
-
A couple of points: everything about O'Shea's modus operandi says that he will stick with the status quo as long a she can. His history with the Bombers is replete with examples, so we can expect that Nichols will go into training camp as the anointed one. Nothing about Nichols' track record indicates that he is an elite quarterback ala Bo-Levi, Frito-lay, Reilly etc. He is a good QB, and his acquisition probably saved the jobs of Kyle Walters and maybe even O'Shea. Nichols looks like a more fragile version of Kevin Glenn- he will be only as good as the players around him. Doug Brown's assessment of him as being the 5th or 7th best QB in a nine-team league supports this opinion.

Sounds like a Bomber sort of guy. Positive attitude, small college, and he shouldn't be fazed by our weather.
-
But as a head coach, he was part of significant problems despite some success.
-
Considering the circumstances under which Chamblin left the Riders, I cannot see him as a credible candidate for Argo head coach. I suspect they were just filling out their dance card.

Well, boyz will be boyz.

Attention Lapolice! Please Stop Calling Predictable Plays
Tracker replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
In Khari's defence, in BC he had a brittle quarterback and a porous O-line, and in Montreal, he had even less to work with. No guarantees anywhere, though. -
In reading through his CV, nothing stands out. Looks like an also-ran.

Attention Lapolice! Please Stop Calling Predictable Plays

Pierce would be the sentimental favourite, but if LaPolice bolts (a probability) my choice would be (dramatic pause) Khari Jones. -
Steinhauer will do just fine as a HC. He is experienced in the CFL, smart and adaptable.
-
If this was predominantly a physical issue, then a week away during the bye week would not have produced the quantum improvement in play. Rather, it would have been a steady, gradual improvement. Moreover, his disastrous play during the two Rider games cannot be ascribed to physical causes. His decision-making was beyond poor. Ergo: the big owie was and maybe still is in his head.
-
Evan Clark's bio screams "training camp fodder". Underwhelming.
-
Is that not an assumption on your part? Or is LaPolice forced to tailor the offence around a mediocre quarterback and receivers who, as a group, do not scare many defensive coordinators?

Do not underestimate the will and ability of organizations to squelch news such as this. All you need do is look at the Paterno mess etc etc etc. You can even generalize it into the business, entertainment and political realm. If true, and I want to emphasize this, I cannot imagine how damaging this would be to a community-owned and run enterprise like the Riders which is so woven into the cultural life of the province. I worked for an organization who sheltered a sexual predator- the staff and management knew but perp was wired into the the "in crowd" and it took a flagrant incident and another vulnerable victim to get him fired.
