  1. The infuriating thing about Nichols is that he has shown that he can do it. But will he? He is like a strip-tease performer- shows you enough to get excited but not enough to satisfy.
  2. Maybe it is the deflating of enthusiasm and the eerie sense of deja vue.
  3. Agreed. The team recruited heavily for the D-line and, as you and others have pointed out, blitzing isn't working, so why keep on with it? Bighill is not up to speed yet, so that is not helping, either.
  4. Until the past two games, I would have said that the Bomber on-field talent was as good as or better than anyone else in the league. The biggest issue the team has, IMO, is behind center. There is no way to tell if this is the fault of the coaching or Nichols but there is evidence that it is both.
  5. As Drew Willy demonstrated, past a certain point, many people do not rebound from and emotional beating. The "learned helplessness" syndrome kicks in and they are done.
  6. World class recreational substances will produce a similar effect.
  7. When you look at the roster, there sure as spit looks to be the talent there, apart from the QB position. The coaching?.......well, look at the difference new/better coaching has made for Corey Greenwood and Vernon Adams. And, much as it pains me to say it, Cody Fajardo.
  8. There is no way to predict which Bomber team will show up on Thursday, but we can be assured that the Stamps will play well. Its a bit early to say that this is a must-win game but its pretty darned close to that.
  9. Well, when he decided to leave the Esks, he showed no Mercy to them.
  10. A good signing. Until the past two games, I thought we were pretty well set at DB, but at times it looked like a reunion of the Keystone Kops back there.
  11. I suspect that the Stamps will find a way to keep Arbuckle for at least another year. Mitchell's future is far from assured.
  12. BTW: I am watching the Stamps/Esks game. It is a treat watching the two quarterbacks ad lib and make gains even when the called play gets blown up. Unfamiliar, though.
  13. I'm not certain we will have to wait that long. The next game should clarify what this team is made of, and the fate of the coaches.
  14. In my experience, there is a lot of head-shaking, here-we-go-again conversations among both diehard and casual Bomber fans. I am not sure that fans will readily accept another almost good enough season. And I bought a new Bomber Jersey in May in a fit of optimism.
  15. Some athletes never regain their previous effectiveness after a serious injury, and for some, aging and cumulative injuries hamper them and shorten their careers.
  16. As a fitting footnote, in today's Sun, O'Shea was quoted as saying that he wasn't concerned about the two losses in Ontario. Which leads me to wonder what would it take for him to be concerned.
  17. You are not alone in your assessment. I am not trying to absolve LaPolice but it seems to me that he can draw up all the plays he wants, but Nichols likely has a couple-three options on almost every play but if he goes into panic mode, nothing is going to work well.
  18. Canada held the Huawei executive on the American allegation that Huawei was selling electronic (non-military) equipment to Iran in defiance of American sanctions which were designed to punish Iran for protesting against American sanctions. Huawei is already implementing 5G technology in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. That horse is out of the barn already.
  19. We fans are as volatile as heck, but the players and their trust in their coaches, quarterback and each other is critical.
  20. Because they are the unquestioned leader in 5G technology, make darned good products and are already over 4 continents.
  21. I agree that this is a possibility. I have seen and heard of it in times past when one part of the team was letting the other parts who were busting their butts down. The ill-will, if it exists, will mark the beginning of the end of more than one member of the team- players and coaches alike. There is a pretty good consensus here that Nichols is not getting the job done and not getting any better. If we can see this from our distance, you can bet your bippy that the players who give a spit are living it. This would explain why the wheels fell off in the past two games and the last one in particular.
  22. You are correct. My point was supposed to be that teams have fallen back on their second string quarterbacks and have not imploded. I phrased this poorly, but I think the point is still valid.
  23. There are several takeaways from last night's game and none of them good. -Nichols is not good or consistent enough to take the team to the Grey Cup. At this point, he looks as damaged as Willy did in his last days here. -I have had my doubts about the Bomber coaching and O'Shea in particular and this game confirmed my worst fears. O'Shea is "a players' coach", and in his case this means that he is endlessly and blindly loyal to "his" players. That is going to doom the 2019 Bombers and probably O'Shea's tenure as head coach. -I have suspected that Walters probably ordered O'Shea to trade Willy and this QB situation sure looks like another such situation. -What the hell has happened to Bighill? Wilson was way more effective, but, like Nichols, he is allowed to flail around out there without consequence -This team will probably stagger into the playoffs, and lose out in the first round under Nichols. Probably (ick) to the Riders. -I am dreading the Labour Day Classic and my brother-in-law's glee once again. -I thought we had the right stuff this year to challenge for the conference lead all season. Wrong. -The Riders, Stamps and Alouettes had the acumen to trust backup quarterbacks. O'Shea doesn't. I have said my piece about O'Shea and the prospects of the team under him, so to avoid sounding like a broken record (remember those?), I will cease from stating that O'Shea has to go. He has made my point for me abundantly.
  24. Occasional fumbles are gonna happen to running backs, particularly when they are fighting for extra yards. We will live with it. Thank God for Harris- without him this edition would look even worse than they do.
