I'm sorry but I could not disagree with you more on this one.
The reason you never see a 61 yarder attempted is because no coach worth their salt would try it. (Unless you have a Janikowski type kicker, which Medlock is not, in terms of leg strength.) The only time you might see it is when they are in desperation mode because there is no time left on the clock. In any other situation it is ludicrous to try a 61 yard field goal. I have never seen it attempted with ample time still left on the clock in my many years watching football.
I don't care how good Justin Medlock is, he has never made a kick in a dome from that distance in a game, which is night and day different than doing it practice, because no one in the history of the CFL has done it.
We are talking about odds here.  We are talking about the odds of a kicker making a kick that has never been made in the history of the CFL to putting your offence back on the field to try and get 4 yards. Of course it's not a sure thing that they make the 4 yards, but the odds are better. A lot better.
It was a meat head decision by O'Shea.

I looked at the game log and there was 3 seconds left in that game so they choice would have been
    a) have Leone kick a 61 yarder  which is what the Lions did - probably 1% chance of succeeding
    OR
    b. throw a hail mary to the end zone - less than one percent chance of succeeding
There was 36 seconds in the Bomber game.  Bomber choices were
    a) kick field goal - which they did - again, less than 1% chance of succeeding
    b. gamble on third and 4 - probably had 40 - 50% chance of succeeding.  They would have also had time for 2 or 3 more plays had they made it.

Please don't attempt to draw comparisons between a nearly impossible field goal attempt with 3 seconds on the clock vs one with 36 seconds on the clock.  It's insulting.  O'shea's decision defied logic.

Was that attempt earlier in the year made with 36 seconds on the clock and time for 3 more plays?  Because if it was made with less than 7-8 seconds left and/or an incredibly long yardage to get the first down, it is of little relevance to the  terrible decision O'Shea made.

Yup. O'Shea's decision cannot be attributed to his being a rookie head coach. When you add this to his stubbornness about playing Willy over and over this year when it was obvious to all and sundry that Willy just didn't have it any more and the whole team (except O'Shea) knew it, then O'Shea's judgment comes very much into question.

But that particular "one game" given the implications......was simply a massive fail.   That loss put a real damper on the fanbase and perhaps cost us a home playoff game.   It certainly did not help, as far as building some sort of winning tradition at IGF.

While Nichols is an improvement on Willy he is still nothing more than the 7th or 8th best QB in the league.  Unless the Bombers have a dominant run game and dominant defense (they have neither) like they did in 1990 they will not be a win a Grey Cup with him at QB.

I wouldn't expect the offense to ever carry this team.  Not with Matt Nicholls at the helm.  He is the 7th or 8th best QB in the league and he will not get better.  A game manager, nothing more.  Lapo will not open up the offense as a person of Nicholls abilities will not get you the results of a Collaros, Reilly or Mitchell.

Watching sportscentre the other day and they pointed out the Riders moved the ball slightly forward before the snap later in the game and there was no call.  Riders had some big breaks in that game, but with that said, Hamilton should have not allowed the game to come down to a few plays like that.  I guess they aren't as good as many, including myself, thought they were at the beginning of the season.

Collaros has been statistically spectacular since returning from his knee injury six games ago, throwing for an average of 350 yards while posting 16 touchdown passes against six interceptions. But he hasn’t passed the eye test the last two weeks, making questionable decisions and struggling at times with his accuracy.
The team is just 3-3 since he’s been back, the same record they had under backup QB Jeremiah Masoli.

The average penalties for the four games in Week 13 was 14.5 per game – the lowest average in a single week this year and the lowest since 2013.
The Hamilton and Montreal game was the second-fastest game of the season, taking two hours and 37 minutes. The fastest game, at two hours and 30 minutes, occurred in Week 11 between Toronto and BC.
Coaches’ challenges were also at a season low with only five plays challenged and two overturned.
Between the four games a total of 232 points were scored, with an average of 58 points per game. That is the second-highest average for a week of games this season, trailing only Week 9 where the average points per game was 59.3.
Week 13 also featured the most rushing yards this season with an average of 219 yards per game.
Toronto and Winnipeg game had six lead changes – tied for the most this season in a single game.
First-time all-year that all four home teams won in a week. In the last 10 games, road teams are 1-9, however they still own the advantage overall this season going 28-24-1 (.528) winning percentage.

Why do you assume that?  Think the worst of people and their motivations?  My point is, many posters here are saying stupid things like "something doesn't add up." with nothing to substantiate it other than their own biasness.
The person in question reporting this incident has every right to and should not be case in suspicion - no different than one who goes online to give a review of a hotel, tour or restaurant they frequented.

People also have different viewpoints of situations based on a number of factors.  Two people watch a child having beer spilled on their head as a mother gets into an argument with a couple of drunken girls - one could say it was deliberate while the other could say it was accidental given the persons' drunken, animated state.  Both could be correct in this situation.

It is absolutely deplorable that people here will jump to such ridiculous conclusions based on a hunch.  Maybe you folks also believe 9/11 was an inside job too.

With all the whining going on at Riderfans, I felt it pertinent to dig up this thread.  Led by the lead Admin, Rider_Stronson, there have been talks  over there of conspiracies, scams, incompetence, the worst reffed game in history all against the Riders because of a ticky-tack PI call on Cox late in the game.  It's funny that the Rider fans conveniently forget that the primary reason for their sole victory this season was due to a ticky-tack call on the Ottawa defender late in the game several weeks ago PLUS a questionable non-call on the Saskatchewan defender as I described above.  See evidence of the play below...
But continue on with the never-ending conspiracies of how the league is out to get the Riders and how they never benefit from questionable calls. This train of thought is contradicted by the above video evidence.  In the end, bad or questionable calls tend to balance out over the course of a season for each team, including the Riders.

If I don't see any responses from Rider fans I will assume you will agree with me.
