Does A Blowout Over Toronto Next Week Earn MOS An Extension?
My excitement wouldn't be dampened by one bit if Willy was back in at #1 and was helping us win games. Not a bit. I like to win, I like when my team wins, and losing sucks. Period. That's why I'm glad Willy is the backup .. he isn't a winner. And history shows that. You're also creating a strawman there for me, suggesting I want the team to lose because of Willy. Untrue.

I don't think you have a very good grasp on me. The last 2 weeks have been my favourite Bomber football in years. Willy has been exposed and the team is winning. What more could I possibly ask for? I don't care if MOS stays, in fact, I predicted that he likely has job security now for the remainder of the season. I'm borderline feeling Bomber joy

OK, it IS Willy ...
One specific poster here remarked before the Edmonton game about how concerned the Nichols backers were. The post was very much along the lines of `cant wait to rub it in when Nichols sucks'. The reality is there are a small number of folks here who were so heavily invested on Willy that Nichols doing well is a complete rebuke that Willy wasn't a huge part of the problem. edit: Found the post , from wbbfan I can feel the nervousness of the its all willys fault toxic group as they get to see nichols in edm. wonder how many games of excuses he will get before full panic sets in. im guessing hes gonna be between 2-3 tds and the same for pics. Hit around 10 times. Hard to beat a team all three meetings out of the year nichols may pull it out in edm. I hope mos doesnt panic pull nichols for willy though. If this isn't full on hoping for someone to fail just to prove you aren't yourself wrong I don't know what is. As for me...I've never suggested that Willy was the sole problem. There was clearly a confidence issue with the entire offense, and, the line was not as good as it should be. Bond has made a huge difference, but Nichols is the biggest single difference by far last 2 games. His confidence has cascaded through the entire line up. He was throwing medium to long balls with confidence and accuracy-- something Willy used to do. Can Willy regain that kind of confidence? Who knows. I would place my bet on no... the guy is nearly 30 and never really been consistent. Ever. Not a knock on Willy because i don`t like him. He seems like a good guy and teammate. But you can`t pay someone 400k a year and hope they become something they've never been before.

Would the Bomber's record be 3 - 4 if MOS had inserted Matt Nichols when Willy was struggling in game one?
I don't think I would have brought back Willy if I were GM, but since you brought him back and he's making 400k a year, he had to get the early starts. Nothing wrong with pulling a QB in a game they're not being effective in though. So I'll disagree with some responses here that make it seem untoward to pull Willy earlier in the season. He isn't Tom Brady.

Official GDT: vs Ham 08/03/16 Game Day We All Play!
I had the same concern late in the 3rd. Why have our best Qb and RB out there in garbage time? I didn't understand taking that risk.

Are you asking me or the thread starter, who created this thread solely to troll and start arguments?

Tough days for Willy lovers.

Do we change our play calling
I don't know why anyone is surprised our 2nd half was slow. We had an enormous lead and got comfortable.

No reason to release him until years end, but this is totally correct. You don't pay your backup 400k

Ain't nothin' wrong with that

This team looks far more confident lately.

Official GDT: vs Ham 08/03/16 Game Day We All Play!
I have no idea what to expect tonight after we won in Edmonton last week. Everything from a Bombers blow out to a Ticats blow out and in between wouldn't shock me. In a lot of ways it's like watching the Jets last year... who's going to show up? No idea. Prediction time, anyway... 20-18 for the Bombers. Nichols is serviceable but it's a ground game in bad weather. MOS is all but guaranteed security for the remainder of the year the win, and Nichols gets until at least labour day.

Not to bring this up again, but, my god, Goalies last post is the exact rhetoric that Pavelec defenders used for years and years. Literally to a T. Instead of Willy you have Pavelec, and instead Nichols you have Mason, Montoya, Hutchinson. The same strawman arguments about people thinking Hutch not being a savior (no one claimed) are now being trotted out for Nichols. No one thinks Nichols is a star QB who's a savior, but, he sure as hell is better than Willy and a lot cheaper. Hmm who's that remind you of? Stop constructing Strawmen arguments. Further, the game is played on the field. Not on paper, and results aren't determined by who's better in practice or who has perceived to have better tools and upside. I don't give a flyin' banjo if Willy outperforms Nichols in practice and has a better "toolkit" than Nichols. If he can't make proper decisions in game because he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he's no good to us. And not to bring up his salary again, but if you're going to pay someone 400k+ in the CFL.... they better be one of the top players in their position. Right now Willy would be a backup QB option for Saskatchewan, us, maybe Toronto, and Montreal. The rest of the league would pass on this nearly 30 year old with "all sorts of upside".

Yes, I think we're all aware of the ongoing and unrealistic expectations of Willy.

OK, it IS Willy ...
Not code. English.

OK, it IS Willy ...
Fun fact. Matt Nichols is younger than Drew Willy. True story. I wonder where all the Willy defenders are to suggest that perhaps Nichols will yet turn his career around.
-
OK, it IS Willy ...
It's a perfectly cromulent comparison.

OK, it IS Willy ...
These are the same flawed arguments that kept Pavelec in net for years

I think we have a large enough sample size on Willy, however. He doesn't have what it takes to be a starting qb.

Riders Vs. Als "Bottom of the Barrel Edition"
I assume he will get on his bike and ride back to Regina

Riders Vs. Als "Bottom of the Barrel Edition"
pretty awesome to watch the riders get trampled like this to a crap team like montreal, on 4 days rest. holy smokes.

OK, it IS Willy ...
Pot, meet kettle. You're obsession to defend Willy right until his inevitable release is actually shocking. No one here is saying "OH LOOK, IT WAS WILLY ALL ALONG!". It's a lot of people saying the same thing as me: Nichols was a lot better than anything Willy has done this year, combined with a great effort by the line and Harris and it's a world of difference. Had we played Willy last night I could see it being another heart breaking close loss to Edmonton like earlier in the year.

OK, it IS Willy ...
Willy is nearly 30 man. What potential? All the hype from Rider fans from 4 years ago? Cmon.
-
OK, it IS Willy ...
It's only insane if you think that Drew Willy is a capable starting qb and the results have been heavily skewed against him because of a bad o line. Willy just isn't the guy. He's gonna make a very good backup some where, but not here for 400k.

"Must ... find... way... to **** on this win for Nichols..."
