It's a perfectly cromulent comparison.

These are the same flawed arguments that kept Pavelec in net for years
-
I think we have a large enough sample size on Willy, however. He doesn't have what it takes to be a starting qb.

pretty awesome to watch the riders get trampled like this to a crap team like montreal, on 4 days rest. holy smokes. -
Pot, meet kettle. You're obsession to defend Willy right until his inevitable release is actually shocking. No one here is saying "OH LOOK, IT WAS WILLY ALL ALONG!". It's a lot of people saying the same thing as me: Nichols was a lot better than anything Willy has done this year, combined with a great effort by the line and Harris and it's a world of difference. Had we played Willy last night I could see it being another heart breaking close loss to Edmonton like earlier in the year.
-
Willy is nearly 30 man. What potential? All the hype from Rider fans from 4 years ago? Cmon.
-
It's only insane if you think that Drew Willy is a capable starting qb and the results have been heavily skewed against him because of a bad o line. Willy just isn't the guy. He's gonna make a very good backup some where, but not here for 400k.

"Must ... find... way... to **** on this win for Nichols..."
-
Coulda woulda shoulda. Normally I hear these excuses from fans when their team losses. Yet here we are after a win....
-
wtf does Harris running the ball better have to do with how well a QB can read a defense and throw a ball? Are the pro Willy people here that attached to Drew we're going to dissect this win and critique it and say "well, clearly Drew could have done the same with all things being equal". This is like watching people get into mental gymnastics to defend Pavelec his first 3 years.
-
300 yards, a touchdown, no picks, and no drive killing mistakes. And he helped generate 30 points. I don't get how that translates to "not playing very well". Bizarre but you're entitled to your opinion. I was only able to catch half the game and from what I watched he wasn't the MVP but he was a huge part of our win tonight.

Does a blow out against the Tiger-Cats cost MOS his job?

I think this an attempt at a troll, even though I posted last week that each win probably buys O'Shea a month ( or something like that). So, while I appreciate the attempt to be funny at my expense it's kind of a swing and a miss. Whoever in the head office forced MOS to start Nichols should get a gift basket from the O'Shea family, frankly. -
I don't get the poo pooing of his win tonight. I know he has this "backup QB" brand burned into his rear end apparently, but, he gave us a quality start and a win in Edmonton. A place we haven't won since Milt was on the team. Harris was a beast and the D was awesome, but our QB also contributed and made plays. If Nichols isn't a starting QB then Willy's a 3rd stringer by that measure.
-
That wasn't the question though. If we're just going to say this was the OL, and, Willy would have been just as good behind it, then we're just starting at the result and moving backwards. Nichols clearly had better protection but that also can be a function of him releasing the ball faster, looking off receivers, and pushing the ball further downfield. It's never just one thing. It's a combined effort.
-
So is the narrative now that the OL finally showed up, just in time for Nichols?
-
I dont even recognize this offense. What a difference. Imagine that. You cant judge a qb by practice alone... what a concept. Go Nichols, Go Bombers
-
What are the odds of that in an 8 team (9 very recently) league. Oh... actually pretty good.

How can he not be? His salary is what will do him in.

Funny, 3 years of being an ST coach was the only resume padding that MOS required. -

what do you think Bomber management is going to put out there? That MOS has his job on the line in 2 weeks? Jesus. -

*sigh * How am I supposed to win this argument? You reply to me and basically take a huge dump all over me, and, if I respond 'I'm crying'. If I don't I'm basically endorsing your views. Grow up. "Cry about it" lol.. seriously, this sounds like something my child might come up with. -

I'm sorry you feel that way. The admins have asked me to try and be less combative and bring it down a notch. And I agree its probably in everyones best interests we all try and find a way to discuss things with a more even keel. If you aren't interested in discussing these topics in a respectful manor, that's on you. Edit: Same for your atomic. Rage all you want. I don't care. Legit question and point of discussion. Feel free to scream at your keyboard for all I care. -
The Joke that is the Winnipeg Blue Bomber franchise

the 5-1 start was pretty awesome. I remember being really up on Willy after not wanting him, and, some what impressed with MOS. The results were there. Since that 5-1 start it's been a debacle. Just a hot mess. I think I mentioned before too about how winning 07 or 01 or 11 would have made a world of difference for this team and our fan bases morale. 01 was the least excusable. That was our Cup and a sub 500 team got hot at the right time, and, we didn't show up. That one hurts. The loss to BC was painful of course but not entirely unexpected. It's the loss the Riders that stings the most even now, and probably within the hard core fans still rings in our ears a bit. We were the better team for sure and a terrible fluke injury doomed us. Ugh. I can`t even bare to think about that game much more or I`ll get all pissed off. What Mike said was bang on. As Bomber fans were not enjoying this team right now, were coping with it. Its a terrible way to be a sports fan.
