He struggled last year with a nagging leg injury. He has been great this year and has been a victim of terrible playcalling and tactics in the 2nd half. He's also, u know, 3-0? 1 interception and i think 6 TDs?

Wow. I can't disagree with this enough.

I know you've made up your mind, but, what's the other option? Let me just for a moment cede to you the argument that Nichols is a bad QB. I disagree, but, let's go along with that. Let's say he's mediocre, a game manager who just can't win the big game. A lousy but not terrible QB. Poor. Who is better that we can plug in? Sure as hell isn't Streveler. Are you suggesting we make a play for Arbuckle? Harker? There just isn't a viable option to replace Nichols... so all this jawing about him is incredibly counter productive and toxic.

Nichols is our guy, and the Ottawa game should put that on full display. I'll go so far as to say that I don't think Streveler will ever be a legitimate #1... he just misses way too many reads. But he's a great #2 for us and a great change of pace guy. I hope he proves me wrong, QB depth and strength is invaluable. I think Streveler needs to be playing every game, taking at least 5 snaps a game minimum to keep him sharp, keep Nichols healthy, and keep the other team off their balance.

As expected, as teams got game film on Fajardo, he became totally ineffective. And this is against the completely battered Stampeders defense

Nichols and the offense was humming along. He gets hurt (stupidly, mind you) and Streveler comes in and the wheels come flying off. Not a coincidence. Anyways I'm done harping I want to win so hopefully he gets his **** together and Harris can pound the rock.

So, good news bad news. I finally got a hold of the dude who owns my cottage. He seemed semi interested after a brief phone call. I got his email and sent him an email. Next morning "cottage isnt for rent, sorry". So that kinda sucks. I guess I'll be spending my time in Winnipeg exclusively. Or maybe I'll go to Grand Beach.

I'm stuck at work until late Friday night. Displeased about that.

My favourite thing about Nichols, besides salvaging our franchise, is his intelligence. The CFL is a thinking QB's game. Vernon Adams will never be a starter in the league and you can see it with his lousy decision making. Throwing up lame duck hail mary passes that get picked. Panicking during a blitz and having no idea how to check down. It's why Drew Willy sucked and why it's so hard to play QB in the CFL: you have to be football smart. Willy was football stupid and made terrible, terrible decisions. Nichols, aside from a short stretch last year which we can reasonably chalk up to his nagging injuries, has always been very smart with the ball.

This kind of silly exaggeration makes no sense with the game being broadcast nationally in HD. Like, dude, at best there was maybe 25k at the high point.

If Nichols keeps playing this year as he is now and the choice is Nichols and Streveler walks.. or Streveler and Nichols walks.. man. I don't want to have to be in the chair making that decision. Which is surprising to me that we aren't seeing more of Streveler so far in the 1st 2 games.

Nichols is winning, and, our team and organization has completely turned around since he started against Edmonton. He saved O'Shea job, that's for sure. Is he flashy? No. Is he going to be a top 3 QB ever? No. He's a game manager with a very reasonable salary. The 2nd half of the Eskimo game was really bad for our O, especially the 4th. But that was a function of Harris and the O line totally blowing our running game. Nichols maybe missed 1 or 2 open guys all game, and had a lot of yards come off on penalties for and against us. But no, let's chase the next young kid. All the people who clamored for Franklin are oddly quiet aren't they?

Toronto is such hot trash. The only way that garbage pile of a team will win is against Montreal. Maybe.
