  1. Jesus, I said no one on the defense was good? I think some folks are wanting to get into arguments on the interwebz and not actually discuss or debate issues. I said our D was bad. It is so far. It can improve but we've given up 40 and 29 points in 2 games. Not exactly a reason to celebrate and pop champagne that we've suddenly solved the defensive side of the game. And that became "not a single player on D is good". Incredible.
  2. Surprised to see so many Wild defenders. Our defense is really bad and the fact that his loss is something to crow about means things are worse than I thought. Is Wild hot garbage? God no. But he's not good enough, something he shares in common with the rest of the D.
  3. well crap. who else can we get to look terrible out there now?
  4. its a shame if they decided to scrap the cannon.
  5. I don't think you can pin this JUST on the offence, but yeah, I'm not going to go to bat for Nichols on that game. The endzone interception and pick 6 were massive game changing plays, and were unforced errors. Bad judegment, bad decisions. Willy-esque, if you will. But let's not forgive the D too much. Who here didn't recognize the D had given up in the late 3rd when the Stamps started moving the ball at will, with our D looking gassed. Just after the half time break and our D look exhausted. How out of shape do you have to be as a pro to be gassed that early? We aren't talking middle or late 4th and getting pounded on.. this is middle of the 3rd and our D looked like they were surrendering. And they did. My take aways: Nichols had a dreadful game Our O line was very poor Our D looked totally uninterested in the 2nd half Coaching continues to be abysmal
  6. I gave MOS a reprieve from criticism last year when he finally yanked Willy, but it's going to be hard to not criticize him watching how poorly we come out in the 2nd half of games. That was as demoralizing a game as I could have watched last night, everything was in place. Playing a team that has owned our stadium, riddled with injuries, and not playing very well. The Stamps sucked last night compared to their usual efforts and we just served up the game on a platter. Serenity now.
  7. Bo Levi Mitchell has more wins at IGF than any other Qb. Jesus. Is there any wonder why fan apathy is so easily stoked? Man. Shake it off and win next game please.
  8. I mean, he did put up 37 points in 4 quarters, but not good enough? Really?
  9. A lot. This guy still isn't getting the respect he deserves, and I'm not even talking here. TSN, Sportsnet, the papers, Nichols in general seems to still have the game manager tag on him. I have to think some of it comes from our play calling and how stupidly conservative we can get, and that's understandable I guess if your a fan of another team and just catch a quarter or two. But for full time analysts and our own fans, this guy isn't Matt Dunigan but he sure as hell isn't Garza or Dinwiddie. Nichols finished last night with a QB rating of over 120, 4 touchdowns, 300+ yards, and 64% throwing. Yet you would think that he needs to elevate his game if you read some of the posts from the game thread. So yeah, I'm going to make a Matt Nichols bandwagon because after watching a long line of terrible quarterbacks (including the anointed Drew Willy) I like winners. And Nichols is a god damn winner.
  10. There's a number of specifics I could point to, but that's not going to paint as good a picture as his record as a starter. It's terrible, and Nichols stepped in on the same team and lead it to a playoff berth. But if you want specifics his decision making is awful. His game killing interceptions against Saskatchewan (both games) and in Calgary in 2015 demonstrate error prone judgement skills. He panics, doesn't know how to make quick reads, and forces balls. Hell, not just forcing balls.. he throws into danger because he likely doesn't even see the danger. You can teach a lot to a QB. You can teach a better throwing technique, you can teach him how to slide and be safe. You can teach a QB how to read certain defences but in the end decision making under fire and football IQ are either there or they aren't. Drew lacks QB IQ and because he does he finds himself without a position in the CFL and being released by maybe the worst team in the CFL.
  11. Alright lets try this again. Willy being cut was no shock, I called it last season. He's a lousy QB who was supremely overrated. The problem with him was always his decision making.. he made bad choices and panicked in the pocket. I have read that this should be attributed to the Bombers O "ruining" him or giving him "shell shock". That's silly imo. He was exposed, not ruined. Two very different things. Riders will be lucky to win 5 this year, with how competitive the west will be.
  12. Challenges need to end. They've become a clown show and make the product unwatchable
  13. it takes a lot of training to be wrong at so many things.
  14. Wow. Still with this canard hey? Willy wont even be in the league in 2018. MAYBE he will be a backup next year. Give it up. He's done, you were wrong about him.
  15. I dont think you can say BLM is a young "up and coming qb". He's at worst the 2nd best QB in the CFL. At worst. And he's only 26. mitchell has a lousy game by his standards but the Stampeders D were the ones that put them in that huge deficit.
  16. If Nichols can be had for 375 or less I'm fine with that. But my primary preference is we go with Franklin and possibly finally have a star QB
  17. Remember when people said Willy was the younger of the two? And he's months younger than Nichols? 4 years is a lot when you could make the case he's the next big time qb for th CFL
  18. as much as I like Nichols I want the Bombers to use our draft picks to get Franklin. Nichols isn't a spring chicken and I don't see him as someone who can command an offense in the way Franklin can if he hits his ceiling.
  19. I actually dont have any clear memories of the 1990 Grey Cup. That's sad. I still remember very well our last 3 trips and the bitter sting of disappointment. None worse than watching Dinwiddie throw the game away after the rest of the team played their brains out for him.
  20. 1st stone: Bombers need a new stadiu\m 2nd stone: they need it in the middle of no where? profit?
  21. This is a really lazy argument, it's nothing more than ad hominem. It's especially egregious because you've been proven wrong. Polo Park is very close to the downtown area, and IGF is very much in the middle of no-where for Winnipeg standards. The city got a deal, as usual, and I'm sure the cheapskates who put this stadium together are clinking together their plastic cups at the local McDonalds. The stadium is beautiful, the nicest in the CFL for now. But the location stinks and that's not idle complaining, it's fact. Getting to games at the old stadium was far easier. Getting to Jets games is VERY easy at their new rink. You're wrong. Just own it.
  22. I don't think that's racist. In fact you suggesting that it's racist is in itself racist.
  23. Ya but a lot of that is natives moving in with lower wage/salaries
  24. I don't know why that common mistake in terminology bothers me. It just does.
