all things considered we had a pretty good regular season...Prior to Nichols injury we were rolling...Defence was lights out and barely allowing TD's Nichols went down...Strev was up and down and defense was getting worn down a bit being on field more...it happens.....had the Harris issue...a few key injuries and some a few losses where we had no business losing...still a loss but not indicative to what type of team this was, or what kind of locker room bond this team had...was tight, and from what many people in the know have said was the glue that kept things together and wasn't a normal pro locker room..contrary to what a people don't know, many many teams have locker rooms where sure guys are all teamates, friends so to speak, but outside of stadium a lot...actually shockingly lot teams have fragments of guys or units who have no use or dealings' for one another...people always yammer on about "how good" the locker room is/was but 9 times outta 10 its lip service and just that talk...this team was not normal...and credit to Osh, Hall, Younger and Walters for that...and it was key We made a calculated but risky move for Collaros, but it paid off and was the missing piece..we came into the playoffs hot and confident...dominated the playoffs and after the season as a whole...were the best all round TEAM in the league...thats why we hoisted the Cup...It was blatantly obvious in West Semi and the Cup that this squad was a true gang of brothers, as many said after the game...would play on a broken leg (strev for example) for each other, and not wuss out (Banks for an example) And this was one of may most examples aren't privy to...the sum of all the parts of the season...Injuries...suspensions...A coache's abscence due to a death in family..and this team had a damn successful season, and the sad part is with all that were to be back, I have no doubt in my mind that we would have repeated...no doubt...We would have also added a Sayles and a Kongbo back to fold for final push too, making us even stronger than what we would have been at start

basically hit the floor
-
SMS hasn't been reduced, but most teams will just spend to the SMS floor....
-
100 percent agree...the teams then wee top notch, and best players available...its just the evolution of the athlete...
-
yup....the thing with it too...teams if they want will still operate under the same cap this year, may not spend it all, but have to at the least pay up to the floor

I don't see us having any issues re-signing guys we want, and it appears all want back anyway, so sadly depending on the financial aspect of the league, we may not be able to bring everyone back that would have been here in 2020...but time will tell and hopefully I am wrong, but from little birds I hear from most (in league) know that in 2021, and possibly 2022 they will have to play for a bit less than what has been used to for the betterment of the league, to allow years past that being more fruitful...and all are on board...because its this...or nothing if the NFL isn't an option

Medlock is done with the NFL bs and has no desire to go back to it, even though he would probably be in the top tier of kickers..he's happy were he is and its a bonus for us

Especially for that assbag fanbase

Any coach who is a god coach and doesnt want to lose his room is always going to say positive things about his players....starters and the bench guys...Thats why Kingsbury says what he does. Strev tho is in the same boat as many other CFL stars who go down to try their luck, and the politics and optics of the NFL cripple all of them..well 98 percent of them, They will always play behind the higher draft picks (even if they are better) the established players, and for the most part most free agents...thats how the NFL works and is the meat grinder it is, and it will never change. Ask any player who has played in both leagues, and they will tell u the level of play is equal, the talent just as good...it's just what it is..NFL is a money making machine, and if a high draft pick with big cash in him is a useless turd...he gonna play before a CFL free agent, and in most cases unheralded un-drafted free agents Murray has in games looked brutal, but has stayed in..there is a reason for that, and guys like Strev will suffer for it...he will be bounced around on a PR or as a backup for 2..3..4 years if he wants to, but from what I know of the guy, and what i have heard he will say screw it...especially if he gets 2 years of active roster money and will be heading back here where he will be able to compete, and build on his legend...guys a player and a workhorse and wont be wanting to erode away with 3-5 reps a season...he like a bull chomping at the bit and this new life will tire him quickly....count on it Bank his close to 2 million he will make over next 2 years and come have a 6-7 year career in Canada at 400..500k..and be the darling of a city...thats a no brainer Especially too, if the Cards sign a vet journey man this winter, or another high draft pick...he's out, and at best if another team sniffs he will be PR material, or a back up who never gets in...he wont go for that

Teams from the 80's and early 90's would have a very hard time competing, let alone beating teams in this era...just the way it is...I see it first hand with training recruits the difference in size..speed...stength and skill, not to mention knowledge of game from back when I played...and that wasn't even that long ago...There are guys from the past who could still play and compete if they could time travel here now, but they were the freaks' and anomalies....rosters now are littered with dozens of freaks and anomalies...not to mention they are game ready pretty much all yr long I remember camps when camps were 3 times as long where thats where guys came in to "get" in shape....and then take 2-3 games to "get" into game shape....that doesn't happen now
-
it's my understanding that those players would revert back, or had some kind of handshake/gentleman's agreement to previous team...similar to that window to test the NFL previous to this....I'm not worried about any of our guys we let loose bolting, as they all wan to be back. Also if we have camp in the summer, don't be shocked to see Sayles and Kongbo here as well...

you should be smacked around for uttering that, and banned forever..hahaha

what a dump that old stadium was...
-
They aren't guaranteed or necessarily going south...it's just if they are still under contract they cant get approached and or look/ask for any tryouts, so being released just gives them the ability to get a look if a team is interested.
-
really tho much ado about nothing..some may get a sniff and maybe a workout, but majority are just grasping at straws and hoping to get some kind of income for playing this year..I'd bet 99 percent are back in CFL next year
-
nobody on that list has any hope in hell of sticking anywhere, let alone getting a shot this fall with all that is going on...maybe castillo but thats about it
-
these are different times now with training..lifestyles..new techniques...this time off may actually in a lot of cases extend a guys career, and allow some to become truly healthy...a player now in his early to mid 30's isn't the same player that was in his early to mid 30's a decade or 2 ago Some guys could be coming back in 2021 in the best shapes of their careers
