  1. Prior to Eli injury he was one of the higher rated center prospects in the NCAA going into what would have been his senior year...also at Hawaii in practice he took a lot of reps at the tackle position so grooming to become that, or have value as a depth guy before he takes over a fulltime spot is quite valuable...so landing him where we did was a complete steal I would think this may be Stan's last year if we go out on top again, and the probable switch could be Yoshi taking over the left side if we don't have an import on PR thats able to step in...If we use a Canadian at tackle eventually most likely will be at Right Tackle
  2. Well as many as he can, when he is in, it's our best version of the o-line..
  3. I would think Exume for Sure will be back..team loves him and he liked it here..lower priority, but a priority none the less..it will get done
  4. so basically we are starting the season with Bryant, Desjarlais, Couture, Neufeld and Hardrick as starters, and have Gray, Eli, Kolankowski and possibly Speller (all who have starter experience) battling for the back up spots...how can you not be pleased with that?
  5. well duhhh....doesn't take an "insider" to see that A quarterback who has 1 yr of starter experience, averaged 239 yards a game with 1 TD pass and almost .5 INT's a game and never won a playoff game, is not worth 500k a year...christ thats barely a 300k a year salary overnight sensation..aka one year wonder or flash in the pan...by week 5 Franklin will be the starter, and build on their losing record...especially with one of the worst o-lines in the league, if not the worst
  6. highly doubt we pick an o-lineman with our first...we go best player available who isn't NFL camp fodder...I almost think we may not even pick one this year until late, if at all When you have Neuf..Desjarlais..Couture..Gray..Eli and possibly Speller all in house and only at most 4 of them rostered there's no need, especially when other than Neufeld they are all 26 or under and we also have Kolankowski in the mix, who has CFL game experience and is only 28 I see us targeting a DT then DB/linebacker types and receivers
  7. with what we have done so far now with the Neufeld signing I would be fine with us not even really looking at anyone really in free agency as I believe we already made some nice pick-ups (Antighua..Awe..Otha Peters) and focus on getting Richardson, Lucky, Exume and Grant. The other pending foot soldiers are just a bonus but several on the list won't be missed I like what O'leary Orange can bring us in place of Peterman..no room for him now and as a tenured guy will cost more and will want a chance to start I think we will be very pleased with scouted guys at receiver with McKay and Stewart and possibly Ross (One I really intrigued with) and having McCallister back is gonna give us 3 edge guys who can cause havoc and curious to see what Boynton will do...no real room in this backfield when we have Alexander, Taylor, Jones, Johnson, Maston all back as proven starters And no need to have to fill any o-line holes with bigger ticket free agency guys which will cost us....When you have a group of Neufeld, Couture, Desjarlais, Eli, Gray and possibly a Speller all sandwiched between a Bryant and a Hardrick...well you have what our green neighbors out west "claimed" to have..an utter embarrassment of riches
  8. can easily carry both...Augustine was very good on teams last year, and is a more than adequate back-up in a pinch, Oliveira as well was rostered on ST's to start the season where he got hurt, and would be adequate to back-up
  9. Pretty sure Richardson, Exume and Lucky are all back in fold this year, just a matter of the higher priced guys needing to restructure first to see what we have to play with. I'd like to think Meddy is gonna chill for a while, but is only a phone call away if needed...I know he's been training like he normally would tho, so could be wrong there. With Gray, Desjarlais, Couture, Eli all in the fold with the 2 tackles it's gonna be one of Speller or Nuefeld, tho seeing what Biggie did to stay here. I could easily see Neufeld doing the exact same, as thats the type of guy he is, and he loves it here. Peterman will be back east..too bad, but can't keep them all and he is a luxury more than a need..and no room for him and he isn't displacing Woli or Demski and signing the U of M kid kinda leads to him being the cheaper backup
  10. well if Meddy hangs em up Neuf is a lock...and we can replace the roster spot with a cheap DI as well that will benefit the team
  11. yup...Grant isnt signed either...and Lucky was grossly mis-used by Lapo...I'd be shocked if he wasn't brought back
  12. yeah I guess so...but injuries in my opinion don't make a guy a back-up....when he is in he's a bonafide top level guard, and every time he was on IR his salary didn't count anyway so it's a moot point...not sure what he made last year but it wasn't 200k that much I am pretty sure...maybe 160k...and that being said..he like other starters with big paycheques will be taking a shave to stick around...and he wants to, so if we want him I am sure the numbers will work
  13. played as a starter in all games in 2018...2017 dressed as all, and partway through season was year I believe Bond got hurt, and couldnt get his spot back from Neuf...
  14. well from the same site..shows his games played...and regardless I go off what I know...from ,mouths of people who know more than mouths of fans...u free to your own opinions but he is the furthest thing from a backup in regards to offence...you are a sum of the parts in the games played...take in point the 2 games Harris was suspended we rushed for 341 yards total...hardly an indication that we would suffer in the run game if he was to be missing for some reason or another
  15. I guess u can say that about any player coming off of off season surgery...actually 9 games...and was a solidifying force once in...I guess you didn't cherry pick the 18 games in each of last 2 seasons plus playoffs eh?...if he was a backup/part timer THE COACHING staff wouldn't have put him in ahead of someone else Also of note he kept getting injured the first few year due to being rushed back before 100 percent because we had jack squat in terms of lineman...commendable of him to even suit up and a sign of a guy playing for his boys...exactly what this team is all about
  16. i think it would be foolish of us to use Harris like that again at his age, Or expect it....I think thats more the Lapo influence on the offence too..but u never know...maybe he could still do it, but those days of use are numbered and I would lake to see the transition to a slot type hybrid receiver for Harris this year...a role he could take well into his mid late 30's and be just as, if not more effective than Fatboi Nik Lewis A Olieveira/Augie combo would easily get us a combined 1100 to 1300 on the ground behind our line easily, as well as I bet 800 through air...Even tho he wasn't tasked with it in College much Oliviera has really good hands, and swing passes to him out in the flats some crossers would bring a world of hurt to a lot of db's..him getting the ball in open field in full gallop he would be a significant terror
  17. I would think a rotation of Oliveira and Augustine would do ok....maybe even shockingly well....Oliviera is similar to Harris, and Augustine we know what he can do...we'd be okay...Not Harris like, but still very effective and doesnt hurt the ratio....you could also have both in the backfield, or on the field at same time and cause issues with a defence in who is getting the rock...all that being said...Harris will be here
  18. I wouldn't go as far to say that....Maybe initially in his first 2 years he was injured more than healthy....thus a part timer and back-up...Last 3 years he has been one of the better if not best National Guards in the league, as well as a coaching type presence to boot...he'd be a huge loss If you discount fansite assessments, and go with opinion of players, and coaches around the league, and our own coaches who know him best....many if not all will say same thing I also know for a fact that each lineman is graded...every game...for every play, and what their responsibility was/what they did/how it turned out and he is consistently graded in the top 1 to 3, and more times than not in the top 2.....thats not a back-up part timer, or a insignificant piece to the puzzle....luckily we have a Speller..Eli..Desjarlais and Couture (all Canadians) in the mix all 4 of which would be snapped up in a heartbeat by any team and most likely starting as well...christ a line of Eli flanked by Desjarlais and Couture with Speller at right Tackle and an Import Left Tackle could get you through some games in a pinch....prob better than Sask current line hahahaha
  19. hope to god not...they have a trash line as it is...and will be a major weakness for them so would hate to see Neuf help solidify that group..cause he would
  20. Harris will be back...Meddie I not so sure....growing family....age...out on top, and as a kicker if he eventually decides he wants to come back and play, its a lot easier for a kicker to do so. He being gone would open up that key DI spot for us to use on an extra DB...Returner...Receiver..DE...so really it hurts to loose him, but it also benefits us in a big way too The only real casualty I see possibly happening is one of Couture being traded, or Neuf being let go....but honestly I see neither happening and we make it work...both have stated they wanna be here...both I can see re-structuring if asked as they are cut from cloth of most guys on this team with the team first attitude and desire to repeat.
  21. not sure if anything was announced but almost certain I heard he will be here
  22. We have enough returning DB's from the team that won the Cup, plus some new ones coming in who will fill the void (vets/rookies) and I will not be surprised this year if one of the Hallett boys or Exume don't take over the safety spot now that Alexander is re-upped...He was never the long-term fix, just the solution for last year. So Sayles and most likely one of the higher DB salaries he would command wasn't really needed. or worth it...good player for sure but wasn't the piece that put us over the top, nor would be the loss to prevent us from repeating..There is a good chance Kongbo will be here this summer, so use that money for the ratio flex guy With Taylor, Maston, M.Jones, Alexander and Josh Johnson all coming back that right there is a more than capable back end. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Chris Lyles will bring, tho most likely a solution for the boundary corner, and Malyk Boynton is coming back too to compete for a HB spot...was kinda shocked he was cut loose last year, tho perhaps it was due to injury??...not sure, but he comes back with CFL experience, and a whole season to study...so he will hit ground running.
  23. he also has a Grey Cup ring on his finger..and over 5 years of solid starter experience...not a average one yr wonder pedigree
  24. also helps when the organization is a desired destination
  25. Davis signing was a good signing...experienced vet back up and with proper coaching (actual co-ordinator this year) will win you some games if he is pressed into action...Way better back-up depth than probably 7 teams in league right now
