Nothing is going to improve this season. Firing coaches and GMs mid season with no heir apparent already on staff would be even worse than what we are seeing now. Can't possibly bring in enough talent to bring us to contender status. This is where we are at. That being said, maybe Zac returns after the bye and it creates a spark. About all we can hope for.

Lack of talent on this team. Plain and simple. Our coordinators are trying to be too cute with all the scrubs they have been handed. Lack of talent on the field, bad coaching, and even worse GMing and scouting. This is not a good situation. Miller can't realistically fire 70 ppl mid season but that is exactly how many deserve it. When a team runs for almost 400 yards against you, that's bad coaching but even worse personnel on the field. I'm sorry but right now our defence has maybe 5 starters worth keeping on the field in that role. On offence we suck as well. Then we have coordinators who are both trying to re-invent the wheel and a HC who doesn't trust his team, seemingly for good reason based on what I watched last night. This team is D level talent wise. Someone better explain that to the coaching staff, and more importantly to our GM. We need to stop the Condell/Younger experiments that have been rolling out, strip it down, and allow our lack of talent to at least be minimized by keeping it simple enough for them to execute.

Very good chance they release him outright now. Non-disclosure of injury allows them to do so without a medical settlement.

From CFLdb: The minimum player salary as dictated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement is $70,000 starting in 2023 for all players (American, National and Global players). See Section 9.01 of the CBA for full details. The 2019 CBA introduced a rookie salary structure for Nationals first contract consisting of 2 years plus a team option. Starting in 2023, a Max. Min salary (interpret as you will) is defined as $70,000 for the first two years of the contract, with a maximum housing allowance or signing/roster bonus of $7,500 per season and maximum 50% + 1 bonus based on snaps of $7,500 per season for a maximum earnings of $85,000 for first and second round picks in their first two seasons, with the third season base salary not exceeding the second year base salary by more that 10%. Third and fourth round picks have similar restrictions, except the housing allowance or signing/roster bonus is capped at $5,000 per season for a maximum earnings of $82,500. Fifth round picks and higher along with undrafted Nationals have the same restrictions except the optional housing allowance or signing/roster bonus for the first two years of the contract are capped at $2,500 limiting earnings to a maximum of $80,000 per season. There are no restrictions on the amount of contracts or bonuses for American players signing their first CFL contract. See Section 9.02 of the CBA for more details.

Or it could just be we lack talent and it is on Walters and the scouts. We won't know until we try something, I can concede that point, but based on player replacements over the last 3 years if I was a betting man I would go talent deficient. That's not to say that coaching can't be improved, because Younger absolutely needs to go, just pointing out that it's a mix of both.

No one said don't try anything, apparently both sides of the debate live in a non binary world. You are just inventing narrative if if you think that anyone wants the status quo. What I am arguing against is change that doesn't improve things, which is at this point, with our roster certainly very possible. I get that you and others have your pitchforks out but that never solved anything. There are a couple roster moves that may make sense to us, but for the most part our depth sucks. Deal with it, or at the very least point your pitch fork towards Kyle and demand that an airlift begin because that's the only way some of this **** is getting solved. We don't have enough talent. Until that is addressed we can play ring around the rosie with the roster all we want and results will remain roughly the same.

I agree, but that doesn't mean you stop doing film work. It is for sure, but film work is still essential.

This is the minimum salary, not the maximum you can pay a player. I'm sorry, but you are wrong about this. If the Bombers want to pay him 150k they can From CFLdb .Player salaries by position, age, years of experience or team are not known to the public. The CFL does not have a pay scale by position or experience, though it has introduced a scale for draft picks.

Let's phone MOS and tell him to avoid film work and just start sitting players because they don't get it. They weren't abject failure either. The team didn't reach it's ultimate goal over the past 4 years but we played in the championship in 3 of them. That may not be ultimate success but hardly failure either. Last year wasn't great by our high standards but the three previous years 7 other teams would have gladly traded places with us.

You are really being over the top if you see no success in the last 4 years. C'mon man...last year even we were a 10 win club. You are really trying to sell the drama here. Exactly right. What a lot of people don't realize is that one person's mistake can make another look bad and so you review the tape. You need to know what players don't get it and what the mistakes were. The ONLY way to correct the mistakes is with film work because you need to know what the mistakes were.

We could sign him for whatever we want. There is no rookie cap. There is only a NAT first contract cap but no SMS restrictions on IMPs.

I think Willie probably had a pretty good look in the mirror this offseason as well and wasn't happy with the way the year went.

Vantetpool absolutely sucked at LT in 2024 when he came in for Stan. Hope he is better now

You are really reaching if you think that we picked the wrong guys in TC. Not a single one of our TC cuts has resurfaced anywhere and done anything in this league and if you don't think that other GMs aren't scouring cut days you are highly mistaken. Fox is playing PT rotation in Hammy, Garbutt has largely sucked there, and Adams managed to find a spot in the worst DL in the league currently. Hardly a ringing endorsement of any of them. What has he allowed to happen. Who are these players he is supposed to magically pull out of his ass. The cupboards are bare and have been for a while. During our Grey Cup years our depth was raided and never replaced. The fact that we are discussing scrubs like Fox, Garbutt, and Adams as "the players who got away" is laughable. Yes we are and that speaks to the overall talent level of our roster. The airlift should be in full force and it isn't.

Employment does not equate to anything. They are not starting calibre players in this league. No one has employed them as such. Just because we couldn't replace them with anything better doesn't mean they shouldn't have been replaced. It just further illustrates my point that we are not good at finding replacements when we very clearly need them.

Not a single guy on my list started out of the gate. I restricted my list to players who started as a result of injury or the player ahead of them playing poorly. So while I cannot definitively say that the players you mentioned will not be an improvement, I have very clearly and undoubtedly illustrated that over the past several years we are batting about 10% success rate at finding improvement. That's not good odds. Once cannot blame a coach for not wanting to replace a player when they have a 10% success rate when they do. That's the problem. We need to do better at finding talent.

Adams, Fox and Garbutt being employed is not a ringing endorsement. All 3 were given opportunities here and were soooo good we had to replace them. You don't have to be an all star to be an improvement, but a fringe starter isn't worth playing either. I don't have an idea that it's boom or bust, I do have the idea that if you are going to replace a starter that they actually be an improvement or else you are making change for the sake of change and any football coach will tell you that just makes things worse.

only one of your guys came in due to injury or non-performance of the guy ahead of them. Wilson won his job out of camp and TJ was brought in specifically for, and was already playing, before the injury to Biggie. One guy over the past 4 years. I can name probably dozens of injury replacements that came in and failed. I'll get back to you once I compile my list. I know who I'm thinking of but names escape me sometimes. Here is a list of guys who started in place of players that were underperforming or injured and flamed out. We have may 2-3 guys on our roster that played there way up the depth chart. Here is a list since 2022 of guys that got the opportunity and sucked. Keion Adams, Carlton Adugosi, Des Lawrence, LB Mack, Greg McRae, Cedric Wilcotts, Ravi Alston, Miles Fox, Tyjuan Garbutt, Celestin Haba, Drew Richmond, Devin Adams, Marquis Bridges, Ali Fayad, Owen Hubert, Jeremy Murphy, Kody Case, Cam Echols, Jonathan Jones So out of maybe 2 guys that worked out there are 20 that won't. That's a 10% success rate. That's not good enough.

Just going off the history of our roster changes when forced into it, it's not encouraging. For every keeper we found 10 flamed out. I do agree on the designated NAT usage. We need to start doing it. Absolutely agree that we need to keep acquiring talent throughout the season, something that hasn't really happened much in a few years now. No one is saying there aren't options, just that the options aren't great and that's the problem.

Yea, I'm not seeing a lot of pride on our team as well. Locker room leadership might be suspect right now.

I agree that we need to really start thinking about parting ways with Moxey. Bryant might be next as well. Just not seeing anything behind them. Dejon Allen is out there, might be worth a look,
