He doesn’t have Dunigan’s arm, McManus’ arm.

    Those are exceptional arm strengths.

    We weren’t talking accuracy.

Quite frankly he has a long wind up as well.

Heavy balls Cornelius probably had better arm strength.

His NFL scouting reports, Bengals TC reports, and pretty much every article written about him all suggest otherwise. The guy has a very good arm. Just doesn't know how to use it.

If Simoni hadn't cheapshoted ZC in game 1 of 2019, we may never have had ZC and might still be in a cup drought. I for one would like to thank Lawrence for his contribution to Winnipeg Blue Bomber football.

He also completely derailed the Rider franchise by taking ZC out. ZC was finally healthy and who knows what he might have done in Regina that year. However, at the end of the day good riddance to a guy the league should have gotten rid of a long time ago.

We  had Bailey on a pretty cheap deal so anyone who replaces him would be the same or more expensive. Then why get rid of him? I'm really trying to figure out what is going on with the Bombers & free agancy. In the recent history of free agency going back ten years, I don't think I've ever seen a team sign no one.

I think that signing Schoen, and BO are two pretty big fish. Yes, they played here last year but both had hit the open market at the time we re-signed them. I mean it's not too hard to figure out why we didn't go on any kind of a spending spree, look at our roster. Compare it to other teams and you will see a great deal of the high end talent was already here. The top 2-3 teams in the league rarely get better in FA, they are fending off the jackals and hyenas from picking their roster apart. Take a look at TO, and BC who have hemmoraged top end talent in comparison, and only started adding back because they were picked over. We retained the majority of our talent and thus had little need to go splashing around in the overpriced market of FA. That being said Streveler, and Ford are two very big additions as well.

Reaching beyond Greg Peach, not a clue who the last one was.

Greg Peach? You must be thinking of someone else? He is not an OT, nor did we develop him.

Loling a lot at the Bomber fan Facebook group...

Saying strev wasn't a meaningful signing and could have spent the money else where. Unreal. Strev adds a massive dynamic to this offense and the price we were paying prukop..

Our offense looks like an Allstar team, but our defence, I'll be honest. Concerning. Let's hope our scouts find some gamers

Besides being Chris Streveler, where does this group think we are finding any kind of semi decent backup QB for less than 120k?

One injury on the OL with the lack of depth we have & we're in deep doo doo. The DL & linebackers don't look much better. I'm worried.

We will almost definitely be drafting an OL with a high pick

It's not good, how many holes do they have to fill? Team depth is walking out the door.

Team depth is a crap load easier to find then team high end talent.

Neuf has been solid and one of leagues best guards 3...4 yrs running now....people here didn't truly appreciate what we have...One of the 2 main constants from the o-line turn around and yr in and yr out dominance...Him and Bryant

Yea..we don't talk enuff about him for sure. He just quietly TCB.

I am far from the biggest Neufeld fan, but IMO he should have been the teams most outstanding lineman nominee.

I think so too. Had a really solid season I thought. Can't remember what game it was but Yoshis guy was putting it on him in the first Q. Neufeld stepped up and helped Yosh and Kolo to his credit took up some of Neufs so that he could help and that DE did nothing after that.

so hypothetically right now with guys signed/brought back excluding draft picks and any possible FA pickup.. would it be safe to say a tentative starting 24, sans TC competition which would give us our best line-up be:

Willie...Lawson...Fox...Haba up front (I have Haba there as he started games but truly don't think he's our best option...which isn't a bad thing by any means)

    Wilson...Biggie...Cole as the LB's

    Holm...Parker...BA....Nichols...Ford

    on offense

Big Stan...Dobson...Eli...Neuf...and lets say Vanterpool and Kolo as 6th

Lawler...Woli...Demski...Schoen...and lets say big Bodied Keytaon Thompson out wide with Cruickshank for now as the Returner/gadget guy

    ZC...and BO in backfield

Can't see that line-up by itself not being at least a 10 win squad at worst....But we have some guys....especially on defense now that I have looked at the roster that could really push for a role/starter spot...as well as a couple sleeper guys in offensive skilled positions too.

We get a solid draft...maybe 1 more under the radar key value signing as a free agent on defense...and things really look pretty good....younger...hungrier....and still have hat key depth with leadership and culture police

Especially if we can un-earth the Biggie heir apparent this yr, and have him be guided along by Biggie in a more rotational role to keep him fresh...

    .thoughts?

I got 11 wins out of that lineup easily, probably a couple more coin flip games besides those so 11-13 wins as it stands providing our STs are the same level as last year.

It was needed. Keeping basically the same group together for 5 years (missed covid year included) is unheard of. Good year to reset some positions and at very least build towards 2025.

For sure. I am actually quite impressed that we were able to turn over some positions but keep most of the talent that really matters intact. Best of all the only team that had any realistic chance of leap frogging us this year hemmorhaged talent this offseason.

    I can think of worse.

Well it was inevitable really. We ran it back for 4 straight years pretty much. Not many teams can do that without a rebuild at the end of it. I think Walters did well to put a team on the field this year that should still be the favorite in the West while starting a bit of a youth movement.

I think Ti Cats got a good one, sorry to see him go

Yea...we just couldn't give him the money and opportunity he deserves here. Hopefully he gets rewarded in Hamilton.

Then our debate is basically a coin flip.

    1a) They get paid

1 b) They might keep their NFL dream alive

Yes, both of those require drive and dedication.

Ok...that's the point I was trying to make. If you are going to have the drive and dedication, I think it stands to reason you will also try hard to win and that it is an absolutely ridiculous assertion that players feel like the playoffs are unpaid OT and don't care about them.

    Good point.

So... does Yosh morph back into a pylon this year?

Yoshi was a monster in run blocking last year, but his pass pro was pretty suspect in a few games last year. Neufeld did a yeoman's job of helping him out tho. Not sure that he has that same luxury anymore playing next to Ferland.

Imo gray is just not cut out to be a guard. It’s odd, but it does happen. Yoshi was the same way. He was much worse at guard before he became entrenched at rt here.

I was hoping Gray would get a shot at OT, but I'm guessing that our coaches didn't see it happening. We will need to draft an OL for sure with one of our top picks this year and probably need to sign a veteran insurance policy for the OL as well.

  14. 1 hour ago, rebusrankin said:

Suspected this would be what happened with SHEED AND Rose but Gray is a surprise.

It's mildly surprising because of what it does to our overall depth, but Gray was adequate nothing more, as a starter and we got a couple blue chippers that we just can't hold back anymore.

    Put Streveler at Tackle

I know you are joking, but I could see it. Guys a beast,

Gray with all his hype has never lived up to it IMO. He was one of the most overrated players on our team. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him back on a heart beat. But I'm not convinced he's some MOOL in waiting or that he would have succeeded as a T. He has all the talent in the world, or so we're told ...but he can't seem to put it all together.

Gray was OK. Nothing special but he didn't hurt us. I feel like we pretty much had to open a spot for Dobson or Eli and Gray was the logical odd man out based on his probable salary expectations. Hate to say it but where Gray will hurt us the most is in the depth department, I feel our starting 5 got better with Dobson/Eli in place of him.
