  1. Remember when everyone was all "hurfdurf Chris Randle is a terrible SAM put him back at the corner." I think an adjustment that gets both Randle and Adams on the field is a good idea... I was more a "derp de derp put Randle back at corner" and Im happy to be wrong on that that one. As soon as the d line starts getting consistent pressure and hurrying some throws, these guys are going to see their INT numbers skyrocket
  2. I went to jr high in the late 90s and we still had sock hops. I did go to school in a pretty small town though
  3. Completely agree...that's a depressingly low bar though Well Khari I would say is a high bar to set he was awesome. I'd say Willy will definitely surpass Buck in his prime and may be better them Glenn. I was commenting on the "since Khari" part of the post. If Willy can stay healthy he'll be better than Buck and Glenn for sure. Kevin Glenn is the QB equivalent to potatoes. They'll get the job done, but I'm never going to get excited about them
  4. Completely agree...that's a depressingly low bar though
  5. I think we should stop starting 2 Canadian receivers and start 4 International Moore, Denmark, Adams and Veltung plus 2 big backs with Marshall and Scott will make Willy's job a lot easier. 1 big back is plenty. I don't know why you have taken a dislike to Paris Cotton but he's still a good runningback. Very explosive and very dangerous. When paired with a guy like Marshall you have the potential for a pretty dynamic running game. Since his good game on the first week, he's been regressing. I am a fan of Cotton, but if it doesn't work (now) a change has to be made. Look at the Pat Neufeld change it made a difference to the game last night. I think there's a place for both of these guys on the field. That said, I'd like to see Marshall given a start with about 15-18 carries to grind the D down and then bring in Cotton when they're tired to break some long runs. We've got the personnel for a pretty decent running game and I'd like to see MB show a little dedication to it.
  6. Not everyone was laughing at the Bombers, but definitely some were for sure. The worm has turned and its your turn to enjoy our misfortunes. I'm fine with it, bring it on. We won't be down forever, but this year is going to be a long year for us now, as if it wasn't already. Don't change anything for me, I'll be there at every game just like I always am. Green is the Color. Your loyalty is admirable, but man I hate that song. What a shameless ripoff
  7. I loaded up on Eskimos in the TSN Fanstasy league so I feel bad for the Riders tomorrow night. Ha! I got a few Lions and a few Esks. As someone previously mentioned, I have a bad feeling about Harris running all over if Hurl has to cover him tonight...I don't feel any better about Hurl in a qb spy situation either. If I'm honest, the only place I actually like the guy is on special teams
  8. Hope Normond is ready soon. Cronk looked lost. Watching replays and he is totally missing his assignments. Pontbriand looks better then ever! I was really happy to see Pontbriand involved a little more in the offense. Did pretty well blocking and made something out of the few touches he got
  9. So you're telling me that Rod Black spends more than three days prepping for a game?
  10. I sat there for about a minute trying to think of a Titans player... The only one to come to mind was Cortland Finnegan... who hasn't played there in 4 or 5 years... clearly I'm not in mid-season form...Pacman Jones is still there, right? Don't know if you're joking but he's a Bengal.Little slow on thursdays joking, though I am a little surprised to learn he's still in the league. I don't pay much attention to the NFL
  11. Such stupid logic. The cubs havent won the WS in over 100 years, so no one cheer for them. Aaannd theyd be gone. Basically every pro sports team would have folded by some point in time if people followed that kind of logic. As for what an american thinks? I dont give half a crap. I follow the cfl because i love the game and i love the blue. Not because it might get bigger or other may come to love it. As much as i want the league to succeed and make money and get better talent, i dont want to see a 15 or 20 team league, or american expansion again. If it stays the way its been the last few years ill be very happy. I agree. There are dozens, if not hundreds of other reasons not to cheer for the Riders
  12. Who, Chase De Leo? He's a skilled player who will be seasoning with the Moose for a couple of years. One thing Ive noticed is, we have several small forwards coming up. The Jets mantra seemed to be size and speed. Ehlers, Petan, De Leo...others? Interesting, there was a recent article about size not being as big a concern in the NHL now. I'm ok with the Jets going with higher end skill guys at the expense of size. Smaller guys do alright in the NHL as long as they have good leg/hip strength to say on the puck. You can usually find bigger players in the mid rounds of the draft. Skill+size will always be number one, but I'll go with skill-size over size-skill every day of the week. The Jets do have some bigger guys in the pipeline (albeit with less high end skill). Copp, Armia, Blomqvist and Lemieux come to mind.

  14. The Zips is now one of my favorite nicknames in sports. Nice that their colours are blue and gold, should help with his transition
  15. Good for a laugh. I never really thought about how many CFL teams have mascots that don't really match up with the team name
  16. Yeh, I wasn't sure about including moon, but I kinda used the same comparison of Burris. I suppose I'm using not just rushing yards, but the ability to keep a play alive with their legs in my definition of scrambling. What qualifies a QB as a 'running qb' is pretty subjective
  17. I agree about Allen, decent QB who's greatest strength was his legs and longevity. I wrote his name, because he is on the all time passing list, his records and some believe he's a top ten CFL QB. Although McManus' name comes up in that discussion as well and IMO McManus is the epitome of a mediocre QB who played a long time. As for Flutie, he was rarely in the pocket, yes he could throw from the pocket, but that doesn't make him a pocket QB. Collaros showed last season that he could throw in the pocket if need be, but is more comfortable and looks better on the run. Reilly and Crompton also seem like they're more comfortable moving around than staying in the pocket, doesn't mean that they can't. Not sure why people seem to think that unless yo're a pocket QB it means you're no good. Have we all been watching the same CFL ? Garcia is another name that should be added to the scrambling QB list. Match-up the three best scramblers vs. the top 3 pocket passers that have ever played in the CFL.................. honestly which guys would you rather have ? At the risk of opening up a whole can of worms; Doug Flutie, Warren Moon, and Garcia/Dunigan/Ham vs Calvillo, Ray, and Lancaster/McManus? I'd go with the scramblers.....and yeh, I know I've missed a few on this list.
  18. Yeah but Petan has more skill than all those guys combined. I mean really.. Thorburn? Peluso? Slater even, how long will he be healthy for, Tangradi, These are guys that, well quite frankly they are what they are. Petan has more skill than all of them combined. He's been the best player on the ice this pre-season. Well it's not a surprise to me but after the coach's comment last night about guys who should not be here,Tangradi has been put on waivers. And the first thought to my mind when he said that was Tangradi. good to hear, don't need scrubs or guys like that on the team. Comes a time where some guys gotta crap or get off the pot, happy to hear tangradi has been put on waivers. Honestly, after last nights debacle, i'm surprised more guys haven't been but it really was just one game but... Honestly, Tangradi, Ellerby,Clitsome even (maybe ill give him the benefit of the doubt a bit with his injury he had but..) have all looked pretty awful. I was at the game last night and Tangredi, Clitsome, and Thorburn looked absolutely awful. They were getting beat every which way imaginable. I suppose Clitsome is around for depth, but Peluso does everything Thorburn does better and at a cheaper price. I fits pumped in the middle of a meeting today when I saw that Tangredi was on waivers though.
  19. A lot of people hopped on the Canucks bandwagon in the years leading up to that Stanley Cup run. It's rare that I've enjoyed seeing a team lose as much as I enjoyed seeing Vancouver fall apart in game 7. Watching guys like Kesler and Burrows get a ring would be insufferable.
  20. Wright signed with the KHL Thank god.
  21. It's time for Chevy to start implementing his "build from the draft" plan. We have enough deadwood at the bottom to create the opportunities for prospects to step up. Have only seen lodge in the tournament, he looked good. Nice hands.I'm guessing that we'll see a lot more prospects in the Jets lineup in 2015-16. Pardy, Halischuk, Slater, and Galiardi are all UFAs at the end of this season and it'd be shocking/incredibly disappointing to see all of them resigned
  22. Ehlers could be a Patrick Kane kinda guy. There is nothing left for him to learn in Halifax. He's going to be a superstar in the NHL, better sooner than later ;-). I hope they all get a very good look. Because he looked good in a rookie tournament? Come on now. I don't disagree that Ehlers has a lot of potential, but to suggest there's nothing left to learn in the CHL is just crazy. Staying in juniors has never ruined a prospect. Especially one who is on the smaller side. Nothing wrong with letting him bulk up and work on some things against his peers. Eberle isn't the best comparable since I think Ehlers is a better skater, but Eberle was certainly not hurt by finishing his junior career even if he probably could have played in the NHL right away. No because of his body of work last year in Halifax And staying juniors too long can hamper development, that's a fact. I'd like to see him here if he can make the cut. Like I said every player is different. Size never hurt Kane, Giroux or St Louis and they haven't exactly bulked up have they? Ehlers is listed anywhere from 163-175, he could stand to put on about 10 pounds and then learn to play with that extra weight. I'd like to see what he does with a full season without Drouin. I'm not saying that Drouin inflated his totals, but a full season where Ehlers is the undisputed number one guy on that team would be good for him. Also, I don't think there are any spots available in the top six and he'd get a lot more ice time in Halifax.
  23. Ehlers could benefit from another year in junior, but I don't think he's going to look out of place during preseason and the 8 (9?) game period before he has to stay up for good or be sent down. I agree that Morissey should stay with the Jets, he's past the WHL now after looking so comfortable during the IceCaps' playoff run. I'd like to see O'Dell, Lowry, Klingberg, and Lipon get some time with the Jets during the coming season. We know what we get from Thorburn, Wright, and Tangredi, I don't think those younger guys would be any worse.
  24. While I really want the Jets to get rid of the dead weight on their roster, I don't know how much I like the idea of throwing some of these kids right into the NHL and letting them develop in the bigs. Seems like that's the exact mentality that Atlanta used to stunt the growth of many of their picks
